Chapter 5
Seto POV~
When me and Ty emerged from the dungeon, the townspeople had already started heading home. I strode purposefully towards the big house, but then it burst into flames. A few townsmen came out through the door, grinning happily.
"What have you done?" I asked them, horrified.
"We've doomed the necromancer to death by fire, that's what." One man replied.
Screams emitted from the room where I had left Narloff. I started towards it, but was stopped when I felt a hand on my arm. Turning around, I saw it was Ty.
"Don't. He doesn't deserve your mercy." Ty whispered. He pulled me into a hug. At first I resisted, but I gave up when he showed no sign of releasing me. I rested my head on his shoulder and sighed. The screams had stopped by now.
"What's wrong?" Ty whispered in my ear. I shivered at how close he was, and his voice was so velvety and smooth that I couldn't help but tell him.
"I came out here to save lives, but I couldn't save everyone. What's the point if people still die?" I said, frustrated. Ty pulled away and held my shoulders, forcing me to look straight into his crimson eyes.
"Don't you dare talk about yourself like that. No one can save every single soul, and look at how many you DID save. Only one person died, and the world will be better off without him. So you, Seto Sorcerer, had better not stop doing what you're doing, because you are definitely making a difference." Ty said sincerely. My eyes were wide with shock. He actually cared? A demon cared? Although, Ty isn't your average demon. He's more like a fallen angle. Wait, what?
"Have you ever flown?" Ty asked, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"N-no. Why?" I asked, curious. Sure, I could if I wanted to, but it had never appealed to me. Annie was more trustworthy than the air.
"Well then, you're in for the time of your life." Ty grinned at me, and I felt slightly uneasy. Suddenly, he morphed and grabbed me. We shot up into the air, and I was screaming the entire time.
"P-put me down!" I managed to get out.
"No way!" Ty laughed. Suddenly, we passed through the clouds. There were mountains and other shapes, all made entirely out of clouds! And they were all illuminated in pinks and golds by the sun.
"Wow..." I breathed. Ty just grinned at me again.
Too soon for my liking, we were heading back down through the clouds and into the village.
Annie! I called to her.
Seto! You're back! What took you so long? She answered with her usual humor, but I could tell that she had been worried.
Don't worry, I'm fine. But we do have a new friend. I told her as we landed.
I wasn't worried! Anyways, who is this friend? Annie huffed back. I could tell that she was annoyed at being found out.
Hold your horses, you'll meet him in a second. Also, no pun intended.
Humph.
Ty turned back to his human form, and we walked into the inn. Billy Bob was there, hugging his daughter Rose and shedding tears of joy. He looked up, and saw us standing in the doorway.
"Come in, come in, Seto! No need to loiter around gathering cobwebs! You're always welcome here, after saving my daughter!" Billy Bob was brimming with joy, and he would have swept me into a hug if he hadn't seen Ty. "And who's this?" Billy Bob asked.
"He's a friend. He helped me rescue everyone." I said quickly. Billy Bob nodded brightly.
"Any friend of yours is a friend of mine. Welcome to my inn!" He said, and nearly shook Ty's arm off. Ty retreated behind me after he finally extracted his arm from Billy Bob's grip. "Now then, d'you want to book a room or will you guys be heading out?" Billy Bob asked.
"I guess we'll take a couple of rooms." I answered, suddenly realizing how tired I was.
"Err... I'm afraid you two will have to share. All of the other rooms are in disrepair because we haven't had enough money to fix them."
"That's ok." Ty said quickly, a mischievous glint in his eye. "We don't mind."
I certainly did mind, but I didn't say anything. I didn't want to be rude.
"Well then, Rose, please show them to their room." Billy Bob said, handing Ty a key. "And be careful, boys. Some of the stairs are weak."
A few minutes later, we were in our room, with the door closed.
Great. I'm locked in a room, alone, with a demon, that I may possibly like. Please don't let anything bad happen!
