Chapter 3

???? POV~

The man had dispatched me to get another villager. The poor people... at least he didn't kill them, he only had me lock them up in a dungeon underneath his house. This time the target was the inn owners daughter Rose. I remember she gave me bread when I originally passed through the town all those years ago, but then I met that rotten man.

I waited until Rose stepped out of the inn, and then I swooped down and snatched her. She screamed and clung onto me as if I was something very precious, which I was. If I let go she would plummet to her death. I held her gently but securely, and once we were high enough I swung her onto my back. I took my time flying away so that Rose would have time to adjust, and as I did I saw her father and a robed stranger standing outside the stable. I could not see the stranger's face, but Rose's dad was on the ground crying. It made me feel guilty, so I looked away and returned to the wretched old man.

But the entire time, I couldn't get my mind off the cloaked stranger...

Seto POV~

I was almost at the necromancer's house. The path I was following was slightly overgrown, but it was the one the villagers used to visit the necromancer. It had clearly not been used in a while. I almost fell a few times because of the odd branch, rock, or pot hole. Suddenly I was at the edge of a clearing, at the opposite side of which was a huge house. I had arrived. But in the center of the clearing, there was a shelter made out of rock. A huge slab of stone had been placed on top of a circle of boulders, and on top of it, asleep, was a mass of black and purple. The demon.

I crept close, casting a silence spell over myself, and peered at the creature. I could only see it's wings and tail, which were concealing it's body as it lay on the rock. Suddenly, it shifted and turned over towards me, and it's wings moved out of the way. I was startled to see a teenage boy with longish black hair, a white v-neck, and gray jeans. As I looked closely, I saw that he had black claws at the ends of his fingers, the occasional black scale, and fangs poking out of his slightly open mouth. He looked... amazing. Sure, he is a demon and I am supposed to hate him, but for some reason I couldn't bring myself to hate that face.

Suddenly, his eyes shot open, revealing them to be purple with black slits. Suddenly, it made sense. He was an Ender Demon! A strange kind of Ender Demon, but one nonetheless.

I was snapped back to reality when he poked me with one of his claws.

"Are you going to stare at me all day or say something?" He asked, clearly amused.

I removed the silence spell and replied, "No."

"So, whatcha doing all the way up here? We don't get many visitors, what with the whole 'omg demon and necromancer' thing." He asked me, swishing his tail and grinning.

"I'm here to stop you and the necromancer. You've tormented people for long enough." I said stiffly.

To my surprise, he grinned even wider.

"Finally, someone can stop that lunatic."

"Hey, you're the one who-" I was cut off as he put a claw to my lips.

"I don't want to do those things. He forces me. In fact, I'm probably the nicest demon on this planet." He said, an then he removed his claw.

"But how can he force you?" I asked him, confused. I had never heard of this kid of thing before.

"He has my headphones. They help me unlock my full power and look like a human, as well as being able to play any song I want. Sadly in someone else's hands they can be used to control me." The demon explained with a wistful look, and he touched his ear absently. "That guy doesn't even have any magical powers, he's only called a necromancer because he has me."

"Well, I'm going to stop him. Then I'll deal with you." I said, and I moved to go to the house, but he stopped me.

"It would be best to go in under full stealth. I don't want to fight you, and he will order me to if he discovers you before you get the headphones, Mr. Sorcerer." He said with a slight grin.

"How did you know I was a sorcerer?" I asked him, once again confused.

"I may only be 18, but I can still sense magic levels. Yours are off the charts, and you're wearing a wizard's amulet and robes." He nodded to my outfit. "Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going back to sleep. Good luck." Then he rolled onto his back and covered himself with his wings once more.

I cast a silence an invisibility spell on myself and headed through the grass to the house. I pulled up a magic grid that told me where life forms were, and apparently the "necromancer" was upstairs. I slipped in the through the front door and turned off my grid, heading up the stairs. I went down a hallway, and found Narloff reading a book in a sort of study with the door open. He had long, gray, mangy hair that hung around his face. He had an eyepatch and a gray and white beard, and was wearing a gross looking gray shirt that had a couple of holes in it but he didn't seem to care.

There was a pair of black and green head phones in a case next to him, and every few moments he would glance over to check on them. I would have to create an illusion of the case when I took it, so that he didn't suspect anything. I moved over to it and waited for his next glance, then after he looked away I grabbed the case, putting it under my cloak, an I cast an illusion of it next to him on the desk. Just in time, too, because Narloff suddenly closed the book and looked over, muttering to himself.

"It should be about time for Enderlox to collect the money... yes... that's a good idea..." Narloff said, apparently the demon's name was Enderlox. He reached out to grab the case, but his hand went through it and the illusion was broken.

"WHAT THE-" I cut Narloff of by using a spell to throw him against the wall. I removed my stealth spells and he gasped.

"Narloff, you are a dirty, no good scoundrel. You have robbed and mistreated the people of that town for far too long, and now you shall pay." I said, amplifying my voice and darkening the room to scare him.

"W-what d-do you want me to d-do?" He stuttered, obviously scared out of his wits.

"I want you to return the people and money you have taken from the town, and then you shall rot in jail or whatever fate the townsfolk decide for you." Narloff nodded. "Now go get the money and tell me where the people are."

"The people are in my dungeon, here is the key. The money is down there too, in a vault." Narloff squeaked, handing me a rusty key. I muttered a spell, and ropes appeared and bound Narloff from head to toe. I allowed him to drop to the floor, and I looked at him in disgust.

"I'll be back for you later." I said and left.

I walked back downstairs and out the doors, heading to Enderlox. He got up, and flew over to greet me.

"I trust everything went well." He said, grinning again.

"Yup. Do you mind showing me where the dungeon is?" I asked him politely.

"Sure, no problem." Enderlox said, and he grabbed a huge rock that had been concealed by the grass. He pulled it away with no effort, and I found myself looking at a tunnel.

"Come on." He said, and he disappeared into the gaping hole.
