Backstory: Makaira was the unwanted child, because she was born before her parents married. Although, she finds out later that her parents broke up. Anyway, Makaira was left a doorstep of young married couple, and they were confused by the fact that finding a baby on their step. But they decided that they were going to raise her as their own. Rai, her father was the lord of martial arts clan, so of course, she was taught martial arts. Restu, her mother was a schoolteacher. So, Makira got a great education. When she had learned everything from her mother, her father hires a tutor for her. She had a happy life until one day it came crashing down. That day she was 12 years old, she was out with her mother, and they were getting supplies for her father's birthday. Restu saw an old friend at the restaurant that they were having a small snack at. They talk to each other until it got dark out. When they walk out of the restaurant, her mother's old friend attacks her. Makaira watched in horror until her mother said 'run.'  She took off running with tears running down her face. Soon, she hears the evil laughter and something chasing after her. She cried out for help, because she had a feeling in her gut that she couldn't defeat it.  

        A huge male appeared and seemed to be a monk or something. He pushes her behind him gently and said "don't worry child, I will take care of this."  She watches in awe as the man took out the monster. That man was Gyomeni Himejima. He soon started train to be a demon slayer at her clan's dojo as it turns out her father was demon slayer years ago although he wasn't high rank demon slayer. But he couldn't continue being a demon slayer, because he lost his hand. Gyomeni trained when he could, and when he couldn't her father would take over the training. Many years later, she became a one of the highest ranking demon slayer under hashira. During, that time, she found out that she had a younger half sister, Mitsuri. They started to hang out more to get to know each other.

~Her father and her beat the crap out of the person who originally make her demon slayer uniform 

~She started to hang out with Giyuu because he looked lonely when she first met him. Now, they are good friends 

~Makaira and Muichiro just clicked, when they first met each other on a mission. Muichiro ended up sending her letter first that how they started to talk to each other. 

~Mak melted with a happiness, when Muichiro called her sis for the first time 

~Mitsuri thought it was funny that Mak would hide behind her and was a blushing mess. When she brought her to Rengoku for the first few times 

~Sanemi and her got into the fight. Because he said something bad about Mitsuri. In the end, they both earned respect from each other. Although, they still don't really get along 

~Mak claimed Kyojuro's little brother as her little brother too after she meet him. She takes him out of the house, when she has free time
