I had known the boy since my first day at the Demon Slayer Corps. At that time he had only stood three year older than my 15 as the child was only 18. Ever since than day he has trusted me with his life and I trusted him with mine. But there was one thing that always bothered me about the snake pillar. I had never since him without the bandages wrapped around his face; not even once in the three years I had been by his side. Until one day. I had came to visit his estate like I always had to hang out with him and to make sure he had food. I knocked softly at the door before entering. "Iguro?" I called out to the 21-year-old. A hiss answered in place of a voice as I felt something nudge my foot. Looking down I soon discovered that the culprit was Iguro's little friend, Kaburamaru. "Well hello there little buddy." I said as I bend down and placed my hand on the floor for Kaburamaru to wrap weakly around my arm. "Where's your owner?" I asked him softly as I rubbed his head. Kaburamaru hissed again and angled his head towards the bathroom door. "Oh." I said as I could now make out the sound of the shower running. An idea stuck my brain as I turned to the snake. "Hey Kaburamaru, can you go get your master's mask for me?" The snake dipped his head down like he was nodding and uncurled from my arm. I watched as the creature slithered across the floor and under the bathroom door. A few moments later, Kaburamaru returned clutching the white fabric of Iguro's mask in his jaws. "Nice job little buddy." I said as he laid the cloth in my hand. Kaburamaru's hiss sounded proud as he curled back around my arm. Only a few moments later did the sound of the shower turn off. The boy's voice was heard few minutes after that. "Where's my mask?" He asked no one. "Maybe I left it in the living room." I stood up as the bathroom door opened to reveal a, thankfully, fully dressed Iguro with a towel draped over his shoulders. He screamed when he saw me and quickly pulled the towel up to cover his face. But it was far too late for I had already seen the scars that ran across his cheeks. "[Y/N]? What are you doing here?" The boy asked in a scared voice. I walked over to him and gently placed my hand on the towel. "It's okay." I muttered. The snake around my arm hissed softly as Iguro glanced at him. I smiled softly at the creature and pulled Iguro over to the couch. All the while he kept his mouth covered by the towel. I sat down and let Kaburamaru slither off to give us some privacy. The snake pillar sat down beside me and weakly let the towel down; once again revealing his scars. "What happened?" I asked softly. Iguro took a deep breath before launching into his story while I sat there quietly listening. He was crying softly by the end as was I. How could someone do that to their own child? Their own family? "You probably hate me now, don't you?" He said softly. I smiled weakly and slide closer to the boy. Cupping his cheeks gently, I peppered kisses along the scars. Gentle enough not to hurt him but enough for him to feel each one. "I could never hate you Iguro." I said as I pulled away. "Your scars are what make you unique and different. If anything, my love for you has only grown." The boy jolted softly at my words. "You love me?" He questioned. I hummed gently. "I have loved you since the day we met." I told him. Iguro smiled softly as he placed his hands on my waist as mine sat on his shoulders. He leaned forward and I did the same connecting our lips with one another's. We pulled apart slowly and I laid my forehead against his. "I love you just the way god made you." I reminded him as a soft hiss was heard. Pulling away from the boy I smiled and let Kaburamaru curl back onto my arm. The boy smiled softly finally understanding that he has no reason to be ashamed of his scars, no matter what their origin is.
