38. Aspect of wrath

Just as the battle intensified, Iris and Iu joined the fray, determined to put an end to Zain's reign of terror. Iris, with her remarkable strength and durability, lunged at the monstrous beast. Despite her child-like intelligence, she was fearless and relentless, her metallic fists striking Zain with the force of a hundred men.

Iu, her sharp personality and powerful telekinesis at the ready, focused her energy on Zain's cannon-like head and machine gun fingers. She attempted to hold the massive weapons in place, preventing them from unleashing their deadly force upon the rest of us. Her eyes narrowed in concentration, sweat beading on her forehead as she strained against the overwhelming power of the Aspect of Wrath.

Ines and her team continued their assault, using their agility and skill to dodge Zain's attacks. Alaric, with his longsword in hand, charged at Zain's legs, slicing through the obsidian skin with every powerful swing. Selene, her magic at her command, cast an array of spells, sending volleys of fire, ice, and lightning hurtling towards the beast.

As the battle raged on, the combined efforts of our makeshift alliance began to wear down Zain's defenses. Each strike from Iris' fists, every slash from Alaric's longsword, and the constant barrage of magical attacks from Selene and Iu's telekinesis chipped away at his monstrous form.

In a desperate attempt to turn the tide of the battle, Zain aimed his massive cannon head towards us. However, his movements were erratic and uncoordinated, a result of the relentless assault he had sustained from our united forces. With a deafening boom, the cannon fired a massive projectile, whizzing past us and narrowly missing our group.

Instead, the projectile tore through the ranks of Zain's own henchmen, who had been watching the battle from a safe distance. They had no time to react as the powerful blast ripped through their midst, decimating their numbers in an instant. Screams of agony and terror filled the air as the henchmen were caught in the devastating explosion, their bodies sent flying in all directions.

The remaining cultists, now horrified by the destruction their own leader had wrought upon them, began to scatter, fleeing the scene in a frantic bid to save their own lives. It was clear that their faith in Zain had been shattered by his reckless display of power.

As if the earlier friendly-fire incident hadn't been enough, Zain decided to unleash the full power of his machine gun-like fingers. He spun around wildly, spraying bullets in every direction with a maniacal laugh. We quickly sought cover behind the various obstacles and debris scattered around the battlefield, narrowly avoiding the hail of bullets.

Once again, Zain's lack of control and precision proved to be his own undoing. The rapid-fire bullets ripped through the air, striking down the remaining henchmen who had been too slow or too terrified to flee. Their screams and cries for mercy went unheard as Zain continued his relentless assault, completely indifferent to the lives of his own followers.

Blood and gore painted the scene as more and more henchmen fell victim to Zain's unfocused rampage. The few cultists who had managed to escape the initial onslaught now fled in terror, realizing that their leader had become a threat not only to his enemies but also to his own people.

Seeing an opening, Iris leaped into action. As Zain's cannon aimed to fire another devastating shot, Iris charged forward, using her android body as a shield. The cannon roared, releasing a massive projectile directly at her. Despite the sheer force of the impact, Iris managed to remain standing, her incredible strength and resilience holding up against the powerful attack.

Simultaneously, Ines had been carefully observing the situation, looking for a chance to strike. With Iris absorbing the cannon shot, Ines found her opportunity. She swiftly loaded her mini crossbow with a silver bolt, taking precise aim at Zain's now vulnerable cannon.

In a flash, Ines released the bolt. It cut through the air with deadly accuracy, embedding itself deep within the barrel of Zain's cannon. The sudden obstruction caused a violent backfire, as the built-up pressure had nowhere to go. The explosion was catastrophic, ripping apart the cannon and causing Zain to let out an agonized roar.

With Zain's attention focused on the destruction of his cannon, Iu decided to make her move. As Zain's finger guns began to fire another volley of bullets, Iu concentrated all her telekinetic power on stopping the projectiles midair. The bullets hung suspended in place, defying gravity and physics, held firmly by Iu's immense control. Meanwhile, me, having regenerated my limbs, saw an opportunity to strike a fatal blow. I moved quickly, sliding on the ground beneath Zain's hulking form. As I slid, I reached up, my demon-enhanced strength coursing through my body. My fingers dug into Zain's flesh, tearing through muscle and sinew with ease. My hand found its target – Zain's heart. With one decisive motion, I ripped the pulsating organ from Zain's chest, causing the colossal demon to let out a final, anguished scream.

As Zain lay dying on the ground, I stood over him, a wicked grin forming on my face. "You should have finished me when you had the chance," I taunted.

Still holding Zain's still-beating heart in my hand, I brought it to my lips and took a savage bite, blood and tissue dripping down my chin. Zain's eyes widened in horror and disbelief as he watched my actions. I continued to devour Zain's heart, each bite causing Zain's life force to fade further until he finally drew his last breath.  As I consumed the last piece of the heart, a strange energy surged through me. It was the power of the Aspect of Wrath, now passing from Zain to Sol. The energy coursed through my veins, my body absorbing the immense power that once belonged to Zain. A new mark appeared on my hand. I looked to the side and noticed Zain's body slowly disappearing like ashes in the wind.

"Looks like our cooperation ends here," I said, my voice slightly strained as I adjusted to the newfound power.

"Indeed it does," Ines replied, her voice as monotone and emotionless as ever. Despite the apparent indifference in her tone, her eyes betrayed a flicker of concern for my new power.

"Till our fates cross again," Ines said, her voice steady as she turned to leave.

"I'll be looking forward to that," Sol grinned, the newfound power of the aspect of wrath surging within him, giving his words an ominous edge.

Ines hesitated for a moment, her gaze meeting Sol's once more, before she finally turned away, leading her team left the scene.

After her team was out of eye sight, I turned my attention back to Iu and Iris.

"So what now guys?" I asked them.
