34. New plans

Thirteen days had passed since the encounter with Ines and her team. My wound from the silver bolt had finally healed, and it felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. The pain and the constant reminder of our close call had been a burden on my mind.

During these days, Iu, Iris, and I had been laying low in the slums, planning our next move. We knew Ines and her team were still out there, waiting for the right moment to strike again. We had to be ready, but at the same time, we couldn't let our guard down.

I was grateful for Iu's help in patching me up, even though her words had been sharp as ever. She seemed to be slowly warming up to me, and even Iris, despite her initial hostility.

As for Iris, she continued to be a source of light and warmth in our lives. Her innocence and child-like wonder were a stark contrast to the darkness and danger that surrounded us. Her presence reminded me that there was still good in this world, worth fighting for.

We couldn't stay in the slums forever, though. We had a mission to complete, a cult to take down, a demon leader to confront and desires to chase. The three of us had to be prepared for what was to come, and the challenges that lay ahead.

I gathered Iu and Iris around our makeshift table in our hideout. "I have a proposal," I began, my voice firm and resolute. "We're all fighting against the same enemy - the aspect of wrath. I think it's time we form an alliance with the demon hunters."

Iu's eyebrows shot up, and she looked at me like I'd lost my mind. "Are you serious, psycho? They tried to kill us!"

I nodded, understanding her skepticism. "I know, Iu. But we have a common goal, and we could be stronger together. The enemy of our enemy is our friend, right?"

Iu crossed her arms and glared at me, but didn't argue further.

Iris, with her child-like innocence, tilted her head curiously. "Friends?" she asked.

"Yes, Iris. We might be able to become friends with them and work together," I said, hoping she could understand the gravity of the situation.

Iu sighed, finally giving in. "Fine. But if this backfires, it's on you, psycho."

I nodded, accepting the responsibility. "Alright, then. Our next step is to find Ines and her team, and convince them that we're on the same side. This won't be easy, but it's our best shot at taking down the aspect of wrath."

As we prepared to leave the slums and seek out the demon hunters, I couldn't shake the feeling that we were walking a fine line between success and disaster. But if we could manage to join forces, the chances of defeating our common enemy would be greatly improved. It was a risk I was willing to take for the sake of our mission and our survival.
