3. Working as intended
We both stared at each other in silence for a moment. This particular entourage had short blue hair and glowing amber eyes. Its beauty was enough to worship...
One can be easily deceived by appearance...
"Processing data. Information acquired. Calculating route. Please stand by." It blinked. "Process complete, follow my guidance." It turned and began to walk away.
Without hesitation, I followed it and passed several corridors without any trouble. And by the time we got to Sandy's room, turns out he was strapped to a bed just like me. The medics barely had time to turn their heads, as I dashed and struck one in the stomach and knife hand jabbed the other one in the throat. Both dropped to the ground like dead weight at once.
"Whoa, didn't expect to see you soon, kung fu boy," said Sandy who was still strapped to the bed.
"Call me boy one more time, I will go sadist on you." I wasn't really joking as I began to cut away at his straps.
"Can't have a joke huh?"
"I am afraid time is one luxury we can't afford. Quickly round up the others and we will meet at the dock." The strap came loose as Sandy slid of his bed and got on his feet.
"I will need an I.D bracelet to do so." He asked looking around.
I crouched down beside one of the medics and fished his pockets for a spare I.D card. And there indeed was one.
"This will do for now." I said as I offered Sandy one then fished out another spare I.D card from the other fallen medic.
"How do you know there was one?" Sandy asked as he took my offer.
"He looked like a new medic to me. And new medics don't have a bracelet."
"Sharp as ever, my boy."
"You better get going. Or do you want to spend the rest of your life in solitary confinement?"
"But aren't we in one already?"
"I meant the black box." The ones who are in the black box here will never see sunlight again.
"Hell no. I am GTFO at once. Good luck and see you at the dock."
"Good. So get going." I watched him leave the room. My plan was working. When Sandy and his gang rendezvous for the dock, I would head towards the helicopter platform and borrow one of the helicopters. And by then Sandy would eventually realize I betrayed him, but he will have all the time in the world to curse me once he was inside the black box, happily ever after. Just the thought made me cast a smirk across my face.
"Do you have a name?" I turned and asked the entourage.
"Cassiopeia type B-002." It replied.
"Very well...Cass." I arbitrarily shortened her name. "Take me to the helicopter platform."
"Processing data. Information acquired. Calculating closest route. Please stand by." I waited for it to respond.
"Follow my guidance." it turned again and walked onwards and I had no choice but to follow it. All around us alarm siren begins to stir same with the emergency flashing red light followed by an emergency announcement:
"All residents return to your rooms, or there will be severe consequences, repeating. All..."
Looks like Sandy and his gang is already stirring up trouble...Good. That will buy me some time...
I continued to follow my entourage through the complex and occasionally hiding behind the pillars as the authorities rushed by. None of them paid much attention to me. The elevator was too risky, so we both took the stairs. And by the time we arrived at the helicopter platform, I felt like I had the workout of a life time.
"Can...can you fly one of those?" I pointed to one of the helicopters. Those weren't the kind of helicopter you would rent for a tour; those were the kind of helicopter one would use in military combat.
"Affirmative. Permission acquired." she replied.
"Permission given, give it a shot." I said as I opened the helicopters door with the swipe of my bracelet.
"Ladies first." I motion the entourage to the pilot seat like a gentleman. She got in her seat without further words as I sat right next to her. I fastened my seatbelt, and she did the same. Her finger danced elaborately across the control panel, and a brief moment later, the engine roared to life.
"Too freedom!" I yelled as a sudden spike of adrenaline filled me. I leaned forward and planted my lips against the entourage's cheek then quickly pulled away. For a short moment I was hysterical enough to believe I might get a reaction from her. Sadly there was none.
"Sorry I lost myself there. Please continue with what you are doing." I said apologetically for no apparent reason.
"Affirmative, I see no reason to apologize."
"If you say so." I said. Next thing I know was we were soaring into the night sky.
Q: How would you attempt to escape from Calypso Island? (Or not)
