11. Talking darkness

"I know."

A deep voice echoed inside me head, as my entire world tunneled into darkness.

How long had passed?

A split second or eternity?

I could not tell...

"Who is this?" my voice echoed off into the darkness.

"What does it matter? You will be dead, soon."

"Then why are you talking to me." I breathed weakly. Sooner or later the demon would regain its full strength and it would be the last thing I'll ever see.

"I offer you a choice."

"Tell me then."

"You will die."

"No, absolutely not."

"But you will revive as a demon."

"What do you mean?"

"Very simple, you don't do as I say, you simply die."

"I am the sole master of my fate." I said hesitantly.

"Really? You have no control over your life, yet you still call yourself the master of your own fate? Hue...hue...hue."

"Who are you?...doesn't matter, because I am not buying your shit."

"Who said you were buying? You were right about everything, except for one thing... Yourself."

"I don't see what you mean."

"Denying me would be denying yourself."

"You make absolutely no sense."

"That right! Because you make absolutely no sense."

"You...you are mocking me?"

"No, you are mocking yourself."

"You are..."

"Yes, I am your greatest adversary, yourself. And I am your greatest ally, yourself."

"Then why am I..."

"Betraying yourself? You will have all the time to think about that when you are dead..."

"No...I won't allow that to happen."

"You have no any other option. Come join me...you won't be bored...I promise..." the voice chucked, as its echo drifted endlessly into the darkness.

"Bored...you got me. But that not enough of a reason for me to sell you my soul."

"HUE, HUE. I never said anything about that." Though I knew the voice meant it.

"Then what do you want?"

"Simply coming to my side. Even I need a company..."

"I..."

"Still can't decide what's better for yourself?"

"No...it's just..."

"It's wrong?"

"That too, but something much more quintessential."

"Quintessential, I will tell you something quintessential then. What do you think the entire meaning of your existence is?"

"I don't know."

"That right. You don't. He may have given meaning, but we give purpose."

"What do you mean?"

"He crafted the bowl, but we give it something to hold."

"Sin?"

"I never said what the bowl holds..." I swore I heard it chuckling again.

"Are all demons this vague?"

"Did I ever say I was a demon?"

"...No."

"I can understand why you got confused. But one should never confuse the master and its servants."

"You...YOU ARE..." for the whole entire time I have talking to a much more primal being, so old it was almost as old as creation its self.

"No need to say the name, and I have too many names. I don't bother to recognize them all..."

"I...I still can't..."

"I am already making you a very good deal and very exclusive too."

"Do you say that to every single one of your customers?"

"You are very good at this."

"...I thought I already made my point clear enough."

"So perhaps a little talk is not enough to get you interested. I knew it would have to come to this..."

"Come to what?"

"Let's take a walk shall we?"

The scene shifted.
