10. Tango my jango

Luckily, even though it was staring at my general direction. I wasn't its first target. The first victim was a woman on the ground peeing herself. She was so scared that she had forgotten how to scream. Then it was upon her. I watched in complete horror as I saw a fellow human being ripped apart, it didn't eat anything except for...the heart. The way how it ripped out the heart reminded me of the Mayan sacrificial rituals. Except, after digging her heart out, it just...swallowed it whole. Next thing I knew, it was onto its next target. People ran in all directions, some tried to climb over the arena wall, but it was a fruitless attempt, as the crowd shoved them down.

No... no... no... no... no...NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

You gotta calm down Sol...

Calm...my ass.

With clenched teeth, I began to slowly transfer the control of my mind over to my survival instincts. And once it was in effect, I began to frantically look over the place for anything that might work to my advantage.

The other people...They could possibly buy some time for me, especially those running around...

A pang of regret hit me:

If only I hadn't gone to that hotel... screw me I was just hungry, staying that way for a few days wouldn't kill either, right? No, nononononono! No I need to focus on survival right now, not regrets. Now thinking about it, I am really starting to regret. Why did I even go with that demon?...I guess desire takes all the credit for that one...I should not have escaped Calypso island...I guess the boredom will kill me eventually, or I go completely mental like the ones in the black box...

Ignoring the screams and blood in the background, I continued to rant inside my head.

Well, I guess it's all my fault in the first place... no...it's their fault. They made my life this way, and this is what I have become, a monster. Screw their education; it's a waste of time. Screw their laws; justice was only in the name. Screw their system; it lies and more. In that world, they wore beautiful masks to hide their hideous appearance; no it's even worse. There are no masks, because their faces are already molded into lies. LIES, LIES AND MORE LIES! I no longer want to live in a world full of lies, I know there are ones like myself who seek the truth, yet we are somehow the most socially persecuted group...however...through such a filter known as logic...but guess what? Screw logic! Somethings just can't be explained through logic. Just like what I am about to do.

I looked to it.

To defeat your enemy you must know its weakness, and one can only know your opponent by studying your opponent.

And from my observations at the time, it looked nothing more some feral beast...

Wait that's it! And what could possibly tame a feral beast...by force of course! Why didn't I think of that before? Hell no. Looking at its size just made me want to crawl into covers. But there are no covers. Darn. Well screw it, because there are no covers. Well I just have to make some then...out of corpse? No that won't work...wait corpse...I could fake my death! That might fool it, but it wouldn't fool the crowd... well I just got to deal with what is in front of me right now! Today! Worries would be for today, tomorrow worries would be for tomorrow...

I looked to it again, as it tore another person into half.

So what if I somehow manage to kill it then escape? Crap, I am thinking the impossible, one step closer to insanity then...

My thoughts continued to battle one another, but none of it being useful. Then it looked right at me, I look at it. And when I looked around, I realized I was the only one left.

I thought they would last longer. People let me down once again...

All around me the cultists cheered, as it and I just held their stares. Eventually one thought over came all over thoughts. Not today, not today.

Then it lunged all me literally this time, and that was the moment my instinct took full dictatorship of my body. I ducked. I side stepped. I was still alive.

Under the new dictatorship, my vision became more narrowed, but focused. My hearing becomes quiet, but it hears what need to be heard. My mind was totally blank. Blank except for the fact it was putting together a plan; a plan that did not require thinking. The plan was known as "From nothing to something." though the original idea wasn't from me. Basically it involves me running and dodging till something good pops up into my head.

Really good plan, really good plan...

Then my eyes landed on something useful, the decorative sword one of the statues held in its hands. There is just one slight problem; there is no chance. It stood in my way, and it will be impossible to get by it.

Unless I can get by it, no I am not thinking straight, I need to think outside the box! I...wait, I don't literally need to go pass it, I just have to get by it, now that's a completely different matter.

I grinned.

"Hey ugly!" I taunted. It might just be playing piano to a cow, but at least it's worth a try.

"Hmph." It snorted, but it remained in an attack position. It probably sensed what I was going to do, so now it's purposely blocking my way...or perhaps it was taking a break from the cat and mouse game we had back there.

"There is some shit on your face," I taunted further and it just stood its ground.

"Oh wait, that is your face," this time I received a deafening roar, which made the whole place go quiet.

"I guess your mom is even ugli..." before I could finish the sentence it charged at me like a rabid bull. It reminded me of those Spanish bull fighters. I simply side stepped as it crashed straight into the wall behind me. The plan is based one of sun tzu strategy, translated it into English it means get baited. It appeared to be dazed from the impact, but I spared no time as I ran for the statue. The crowd was furious, as boos flew all over the place, which means my plan was working. And by the time I reached the statue, it had seemed to recover from the impact and began charging towards me at amazing speed. I tried to yank the sword of the statue; but it was no use. It was even faster than I expected, and under instinct I dodged sideways. One moment I was next to the statue; next moment the statue was smashed into a million bits. And seizing the moment I grabbed the sword, as the demon jumped onto me. Everything went dark for a moment...

Slowly, I opened my eyes. It was dark, and for a moment, I thought I was dead.

But why am I still feeling pain? Pain, the best evidence that I am still alive...

Breathing was difficult and I felt like a crushing weight was upon me, I tried to push it away, but it wouldn't budge. Then I tried harder to push it away, with great adversity and effort I managed to move it off me. I saw light, I was able to breathe.

I... I am alive...I'm alive...

I looked ahead and found a large black mass lying on top of my lower part of the body as a pool of black blood spread beneath it. I began to wiggle myself out from under its weight, and soon I was completely free from its weight. Well that was too close, way too close. I stood up and turned and looked at the crowd. There was not a single sound, even the cult leader seemed pretty shocked.

So what will they do with me now? Suppose he's going to give me the thumbs up or thumbs down...to hell with that. I am not doing what he tells me. I alone am the master of my own fate. And things such as fate don't exist anyways.

Then I gave the black robbed leader the 'You're next grin'. But he gave me quite a unexpected response, he gave me one of those 'You're already dead grin' I guess I am just too good at reading expressions or...

A shadow towered above me.

No it can't be...I hit its lethal spot...well it's a demon so its lethal spot must be different from humans...Fk...

I slowly turned around and found my face to face with the demon. And we both seized each other up again, and I realized the mortal wound I gave it previously had already healed. I let out a maniac laugh as it gave me a 'Nice try bud' look.

"I guess you are not much of a talker?" I stepped back a little.

"RAHHHHHHHHH!!!" its drool flew all over me.

"Say it don't spray it." as I tried wiping the drool off me.

"RAHHHHHHHH!!!" by the time it was done roaring, I looked as if I swam in a lake.

"Wel...ll..Fk-it." I was so much of a mad man that time, I would probably make another madman standing beside me look sane. Everything was red, things were moving, sounds here hazed. It didn't matter that I was done for. I slashed once, slashed twice, I slashed, I slashed a dozen times, a hundred times, a thousand times...the demon just stood there and laughed, not quite a human laugh but rather a laugh you will get from the bully who steals your lunch and throws it into the trashcan...the laughter of arrogance...the perfect fuel for rage... Then out of pure exhaustion I stepped back and watched it laugh more. I watched as all the cuts I apply to it mend in matter of seconds. Outraged at the fact all my strength has been for nothing, I swung my sword with all my fury one last time. The demon caught the blade with its hands and then snapped it. Even though my sword is broken, I continue to hack at the demon with it. All around me the crowd laughed. But I couldn't give less than two shits that moment.

I'd hacked at it about a dozen times, until it decided that it's had its fun. It then caught my arm and twisted it. Words failed to describe my pain, as my broken bone shards stabbed my muscles. And it was just stuck there now. Yet, somehow the pain only made me angrier, though it seemed all resistance was useless at that point. It then grabbed my neck and began to squeeze the life out of me, and out of pure survival instincts, I bit down on its hand and ripped a piece of flesh off and ate it by accident. Before its bad taste could kill me, a great headache hit me. And for some reason, I felt its grip around my arm loosen ever so slightly. By then I wasn't able to see clearly, neither was I able to hear properly, and my sense of touch was fading. But it was enough. Feeling the broken remains of the sword in my hand, I swung it down with all my strength. And immediately I felt the grip around my throat disappear. As I fell back onto the ground I heard the dying cry of something horrid. I wasn't quite able to open my eyes due to the blood, so I did my best to wipe it away. When they were clear I saw the demon lying on the ground before me. But no...not this time; being cautious is not enough. I need to literally kill it, which means I need to find a permanent way to stop its regeneration...

"I know."
