BeatBox is a famous idol, who is cheerful and an energetic person that is a close friend to Tadayoshi and others. He loves to make music, dance, and friends, but is very insecure about his face. He is the only person that knows Tadayoshis secrets

Appearance:

He wears a large boombox helmet which can change his voice, tone, and has music coming out of his speakers. He also wears a large orange sweater and gray sweatpants since he likes to wear warm stuff and has orange/white sneakers

Extra Bio:

BeatBox is insecure about his looks so he always wears his helmet except when he is showering or going to sleep. Because of his advanced helmet, it has helped him make multiple kinds of music and with his face being unknown to the public, it made him the #1 famous idol in the world.

Nobody has seen his face except Tadayoshi which leads to him becoming very excited to hang out with Tadayoshi and try to become his best friend. Because he trusted Tadayoshi, he became very defensive and very serious with him when someone looks down on him or insults him. He is also one of the few people who know who Tadayoshi is after an "incident" that leads Tadayoshi to tell him everything and has kept his secret from everyone, as a best friend should!

He's very open to making new friends which leads him to easily break off fights and make them more fun like he does when Kriyu argues with a head chef. He is also skilled in hand-to-hand combat, knowing different kinds of fighting styles that he uses when he sees the people he cares about in trouble

The creation of BeatBox:

BeatBox was another old oc of mine but he was very very different. In the old design, he was based on a mixture of two characters, The Mask and Rick Taylor from Splatterhouse. Originally, he was about a random dude who would put on a pumpkin head that was possessed which leads him to change into a different character and calls himself, The Pumpkin Head. Like the current BeatBox, he had a positive personality but was a lot more chaotic and he was more of a hero that fights crime in a bizarre way (I was in a superhero fan phase back then)

The Pumpkin Head, aka old BeatBox:

When I started writing Splatoon Harem, I decide to change the Pumpkin Head character a lot and make him a person that represents the opposite of Tadayoshi. So I gave him the looks you know such as colors, looks, personality, etc. Even the boombox helmet represents the opposite since Tadayoshi was hated for his look, he didn't care while BeatBox is loved and believed his looks are nice, but he was obscure about it. His new character was based on a mixture of Marshmello and I believe Emmet from the Lego Movie

He was originally going to be a rival to Tadayoshi due to him being the opposite but I decided not to cause I didn't any idea how to explore it so I decide to make him and the guy that annoys the MC cliche. Funny thing is that I never really had an idea for his real name or looks back then so I kept his identity a secret until I figured it out!

In the Splatoon harem, he was once an "ink spirit" that possessed a boombox helmet and whenever Tadayoshi put it on, they would switch bodies so BeatBox would be in Tadayoshi's body and become himself while Tadayoshi is in his boombox. I did this idea to try to make BeatBox a more unique way to be a mysterious character on who he was but after a bit, I decide to make him have a body instead of being a spirit stuck in a boombox because it felt more complicated to me.

I planned to have him be alive throughout the Splatoon Harem story but when I started the Paramount War, I needed someone to die to show how this war/arc was serious. Unfortunately, this is where my motivation for that story fell and why I regretted killing Alex so early. I couldn't figure out who to kill off so that the readers would feel sad about it and feel the emotions, so my Boi, 8tm convinced me to kill BeatBox and after a long debate, I did. This kinda ruined my flow since he had plans in that story so I decide to stop the story for good. So basically BeatBox's death was kinda responsible for why Splatoon Harem came to an end

The current design:

After I dropped Splatoon Harem, I decided to keep his current look because I feel like his character design is at its peak, even after the human change so basically BeatBox is the only character who has changed since Splatoon Harem.
