Ch. 30: Peace
It was a wonderful day. Demons are attacking, people are screaming. On days like these, there is a lone man in jail. He misses his family so much...
His wife is dead, his daughter is on Earth, a place where he can't reach, and now he's stuck in a cage where he's unable to do anything. A poor man indeed. If only he knew that his daughter is soon going to be married with a human.
"King."
The King snapped out of his self-pitying thoughts as usual by a man that constantly visits his cell. This man constantly reports on what is happening around Earth. This can make him reassured that his daughter is indeed safe.
"Deane!" Abaddon exclaimed in surprise. He dashed to the bars of the jail. This is as near as he can get.
"King, Sallos told me that Celeste is going to be married soon." Deane obediently bowed.
"Oh? Is that so? Such great youth~~" Abaddon carelessly hummed.
"But Sir, don't you think she's too underaged to be married?" Deane asked in surprise. He's surprised that Abaddon can stay calm even if his one and only daughter were to be taken away from him.
"She's 130 years old in Earth. Besides, time goes differently between these two worlds." He calmly sighed.
"But--"
"If you're worried about me not being able to see her again, what do you think is happening now?"
Deane could only hung his head in silence. He could not think of a good comeback. It was at this time that he just realized how carefree the King really is, with reasons that are hard to argue. No wonder that Zante Lino likes the guy.
Deane silently nodded. "I may take my leave now." He excused himself. He was about to walk away but a ruin in schedule happened.
"Deane!" Abaddon called out. Deane swiftly turned around in accordance to his king calling out for him. "I forgot the reason why you can go from here to Earth and vice versa but not Celeste."
Deane looked at him dead in the eyes. He started to move his lips but only barely audible and visible. "She can't. It's not in her abilities nor knowledge. It's impossible."
"Then how can you? She has all the demon abilities!" Abaddon furrowed his eyebrows in confusion and anger. He denies that someone can do something the Royal Family can't.
"666 members can. It's to further the investigation." With that as a parting speech, he walked away.
Abaddon stared at the man who was not in sight anymore, now staring at an empty space...
"Abaddon!" A guard scolded, trying to pry off the claws that Abaddon buried deep inside the heavy, thick iron bars that are supposed to be containing him. Each cell in Hell Jail is customized to fit in the criminals' inability to escape. But since Abaddon is one of the members of the Royal Family, the family that has all the demon abilities combined, and because it's unexpected for a King to get jailed, there is no cell that can fit him so they have to build one for him and because of his optimistic personality and interference, Abaddon was given a low security jail but has a lot of guards guarding him.
Abaddon, upon hearing the guard's coarse voice, abruptly stopped. He was not harmed but the guard seems to be injured. Abaddon mopes his way back to his unbroken cell, into the shadows deep within.
"Jinn!" Another guard in patrol came running to his co-worker's aid.
"Raum..." Jinn whispered under his breath.
"Did he do something to you? You look injured." Raum flatly asked as he stared at the fallen Jinn, sitting below him with no concern whatsoever. Just plain curious.
"He just went berserk as usual." Jinn stands up while calmly wiping off the fluid that flowed out from his injuries. It resembles the "blood" of humans but is not necessarily blood.
"You should do something with his tantrums." Raum commented, crossing his arms and legs, leaning on the wall behind him.
"I can't. No one can." Jinn speaks the truth.
"Did you try kidnapping his daughter and keeping her near him?" Raum did something that's like raising an eyebrow.
Jinn stands in silence. Why didn't I think of that? He thought to himself. Because of this idea, he snapped his fingers at Raum and said, "guard the King." And with that, he departed.
He stopped his tracks as he reaches the outside of the abandoned castle. There was no one there but it still looks clean and maintained. The outsiders think it was the lone daughter that cleans and maintains the abandoned castle all by herself. For all we know, this was not the case.
Inside the abandoned castle, there is a person who maintains it-- a person from a secret organization that until now, no one knows about. They have a particular schedule on whose turn to stay at the castle to care for it. For today, we have Deane, the person who's usually on duty.
Jinn stepped in carelessly. Upon hearing the creaking sound of the door, Deane quickly jolted up and stopped cleaning the living room's wall and disguised as Celeste and hid somewhere nearby. Jinn does not notice and continues on silently examining the castle, looking for someone who is not there anymore.
As the footsteps heard are echoed in the whole castle, Jinn still doesn't notice Deane disguising as Celeste nor a hiding place. In the end, he went off empty-handed. It was a lucky day for Deane. If he knew that someone else without permission were to step in the castle, even though it's abandoned, he would get a serious beating-- more serious and violent than Sallos can ever give him! Indeed, it is not a rule therefore, there wouldn't be any sessions in the courtroom nor putting demons in jail, only serious beatings.
Deane heaved a sigh of relief and proceeded to do the finishing touches before going back to Earth.

"I did not see her." Jinn said as soon as he came back.
"Maybe she went out to consume souls again. You know her, such a glutton for souls." Raum tries to cheer him up.
Jinn merely nodded in reply. He agrees that maybe she's just away and she will come back soon. Hopefully, it would solve Abaddon's usual berserk problems.

"It has been a while, Grim Reaper~~" Deane hummed as he stepped in as carefree as he can be.
"Ryan." He said in a slightly happy tone than usual. "You're the one on duty today? Who sent you here and how?" Grim is not happy about seeing Deane but instead the reason how he was able to come to Hell without his aid. Every demon's words have some ulterior motives or twisted meanings behind them.
"It's none of your business. Hurry up and return me to where I was." Deane sassed. He got tougher than before. Probably because he has been with Sallos this whole time.
Grim smirked, proud that Sallos's weak but tolerable punching bag that has a very carefree manner and head that usually wanders away is now a strong man who keeps himself focused and devoted to his work. Being a 666 member is not easy as it looks. It is not like any other human religions that they worship something or someone and ends up doing stupid things as they believe. Demons often think rationally and humans don't. Humans base their lifestyle in what they believe than what is the truth. Mostly, the truth is not what they believe so they end up being wrong. But it's alright, isn't it? They are only humans, they are allowed to make mistakes... A lot for that matter. That's why demons exist-- to punish the people who commit too many mistakes while the others are sent to heaven where angels are there to congratulate them and give them blessings. It's stupid, isn't it? Being a demon...
Grim pulled the lever for the portal and so, Deane successfully returned to Earth with no problem. It was all thanks to Grim, the demon that keeps helping him even though he was pulled along with Sallos, who violated a rule and is now not a member anymore. Although Sallos is officially not a member anymore, he still keeps an eye on Celeste to ensure her safety and well-being. He is such a kind and considerate demon, isn't he?

Raining. Today's raining. It has been quite a day for Deane. Sallos stands in front of a place, holding an umbrella, obviously waiting for Deane's return. He holds the umbrella towards Deane to cover him from the pouring rain.
"You look homeless right now." He commented in a joking manner but he shows it so subtly. Only Deane knows if he jokes or not.
Deane smirked. "How long have I been gone?"
Sallos looked at his wristwatch and then back at Deane. "2 days." He replied.
Deane slowly stands up and disguised himself as his default human disguise-- a glasses-wearing businessman. He fixed his tie and glasses, took out an umbrella from nowhere and walked away from a dumpster area. Sallos followed.
"So what did the King say?" Sallos asks while his hands are buried in his pockets.
"He's happy for her." Deane answered, smiling at him.
"Are you happy for her too?" Sallos asks, not facing him.
Deane's smile gradually fades away. He does not know what to think. "Not really." He honestly answered.
Sallos widened his eyes in surprise. He did not expect Deane to answer like that. He expected that he will be happy for her. He did not think for a second that he will answer the opposite one.
"Hm? That's an unexpected answer." Sallos commented, facing him, still surprised.
"Why is that?" Deane raised a brow in confusion.
"No... It's just unusual for me to hear you say that."
"Then, are you happy?" Deane stepped closer to Sallos while smiling brightly, excitedly waiting for his answer.
"Of course not. But my answer depended on the Auden family situation. Yours is much different." Sallos rationally answered. It was true though.
"You're really loyal to that family, huh." Deane snickered, facing the path in front of him.
"It's Princess's family. She can't live on her own. Even that Zante guy can't try and take care of her as a real family." Sallos puffed his chest out. "Even I myself can't do that." He continued, whispering.
"I don't want to lose her." Deane whispered too. They both know that they can hear each other.
They continued walking side by side as the rain continues to pour down...

Zante Lino stands at his doorway at night while his dear brother is sleeping soundly in his bedroom. He watches the dark but relaxing sky as he thinks about his promise-- to take care of the daughter of his best friend. He doesn't know what to do now that Kanae told him about the plan to ruin her own wedding. He doesn't even know if he completely agrees with him or not. Is Celeste happy about this? Does she really want to ruin her own wedding? The only thing he knows is that he doesn't want her to marry so early, that's why he agreed to ruin her wedding. Will that make her happy? Is that an action that a substitute father do? Is it? Doubts cloud on his mind, that's why he stares at the sky in hopes that somehow it can relax him.

Joanna Himbocole sits up on her bed, looking at the picture that Celeste sent through Messenger. The picture is the picture frame that Kanae has in his bedroom. Joan thought it might be useful for Kanae's birthday/christmas gift even though Celeste already thought of the best gift. There's something in the picture that Joan wants. Celeste blindly followed her command though.
Joan, in her knowledge, knows that marriage is a human's best day ever but not for Celeste. She knows that Celeste isn't ready yet. She doesn't even know what marriage is or what she does in a marriage. Stopping someone else's best day ever just because his partner does not approve isn't some excuse to ruin it. That's why she does not approve of ruining a wedding that someone looks forward to...
What kind of plan is Celeste thinking about right now? I hope she doesn't do anything stupid.

The alarm rings loudly in the morning in a bedroom.
"December 25..."
