Ch. 23: Deane Ryan (page 2)

The moon stays in the dark night sky, acting as a light source. The sun is also the natural source of light that God created.

I, too, am something that God created.

"Deane, what are you doing?" Someone who has the same species that I have asked me. He appeared so suddenly that I panicked and immediately closed the portal.

"I- I was just watching some...things..." I stuttered away to hide the fact. Still, I couldn't just stay there, doing what I'm doing. It's prohibited.

Sallos leaned closer and took a look in what I was doing. He hummed then looked at me with a smirk. "You were watching the Earth, aren't you?" He teased. "So it's true that you're still in the side of God?" He leaned back and stared at me with narrow eyes. Sometimes, he scares me but I won't admit that.

He took me by the collar and shook me violently. "Why are you still with Him?!" He screams as he continued to shake me violently.

"Don't--" before I can continue, I puked at him. His clothes, his shoes, his whole body is now covered in my vomit. He dropped me down, still violently, and did nothing to clean his body from the disgusting vomit. "You know that I easily get sick!" I protested, covering my mouth to avoid any more vomit to come out. "What are you so worked out about anyway?!"

"Don't forget that you're a fucking demon! You don't serve God anymore! You already forsaken him!" He argued, about to pick me up again by the collar. I managed to stop him though by merely putting up my palm.

I didn't tell him anything, I didn't do anything. I couldn't...

I tried so hard to speak, only to be cut off by more vomit-- those long yellow things that humans sometimes eat. They're disgusting, I know. But we're all different.

"I know a person-- no, a whole family that is better than God." Sallos continued like my own wellbeing doesn't matter to him anymore. He did not care about me, about what I had to say, about what I had to do. He's always like this...

"I won't listen to you anymore..." I meekly tried to fight back with my remaining strength. I'm in a state where I don't have the strength nor authority to keep on talking until my breath wears out. "I won't--"

"You'll change your mind soon enough if you actually keep up with what's happening in the world where you are." He interrupted. I want to talk back, to keep on fighting even though I'm incredibly weak, but he already exited my house without so much as a goodbye. Sometimes, that's what I hate about him.

Sallos is generally a kind demon. He keeps you company and is always by your side. I can say he's loyal. But when someone, no matter how important he/she is to him, mentions about God, he will brutally beat them up senseless-- like what he just did to me. I can hardly breathe or even have a will to live after the fight. A fight where one person couldn't even fight back.

I pass by the black and dark road that no other demons dare pass. I guess my mind was too far from my body that it just continues to go even if I fully know about the other powerful demons that are kept in this dangerous road. They are not caged, they roam around freely. One wrong step and you get killed by them immediately. You will have no time to react, not even a millisecond!

I continued and continued on, ignoring everything that's in my way. Everything else was black and dark to me, I couldn't recognize the difference from my own world and the forbidden road that I'm crossing right now.

I can feel piercing stares coming from demons. I don't know which demons: the demons inside my head or the real dangerous and powerful demons that lurk in this road. Why can't I even know the difference between fantasy and reality? I'm annoyed at myself just by thinking about that, about the fact that I can't even know the difference between the two worlds. Is it really important for me to know?

Thoughts keep clouding my mind, I can't think straight because of all the bugs and barriers that keep me from doing so. I still couldn't differentiate the two, I don't know if I'm being attacked or helped. I just know that demons are after me and I don't know if they are good or bad demons.

I closed my eyes and hope for the best. Either way, I still want to live afterwards. I still want to experience things that I couldn't. I still want to spend more time with Sallos, I know he's just being misunderstood. I have a lot to do in my lifetime. I don't want to be devoured by the powerful demons. I may not even make it out alive.

I can feel the cold breeze on my skin. What breeze is this? Why can't I recognize this? This is new. This is not the breeze I feel when God passes through me. What is it? What is it? Why am I still alive? The demons that I sensed are actually normal demons? Thank goodness. Did I just pass out in the middle of a road?

"You seem to be awake." I see Sallos beside me, holding a mug of hot chocolate with marshmallows. I weakly smiled and examined myself-- full of injuries and bandages. A lot of blood and a bit of a hole on my stomach.

"What did I do?" I laughed at my own helpless body. "Was I that careless?" I continued on ranting about everything while still being in a state where I shouldn't. I was still laughing and smiling as if everything that happened to me, all these injuries before me, are all nothing.

"Unfortunately, you were." Sallos answered as he sternly looks at me. He then took a sip from his hot chocolate and placed it on top of a small circular table next to the bed that I'm lying down on. He stands up and looked out the window with sorrow and pity in his eyes. "But there's someone who took you in here before you became a goner." He looked through the window as though he is distant. I can't blame him, maybe he really is distant.

"Let me guess." I started, humming like I don't know the answer. "It's that family that you were talking about." I answered with my eyes closed as if I'm thinking about it deeply.

"I'm surprised that you still remember that." The distant demon sighed like he really was surprised. Believe it or not, Sallos sighs when he is surprised about a stupid remark...which I just gave.

"So, is it?" I opened my eyes and asked him with eyes full of excitement.

He looked at me with those scary narrow eyes and took out a cigarette. He studied the cigarette a little closer without lighting it like it's the one that he's talking to and not me. "Yeah." He finally answered. He did not light the cigarette though. He shoved it back inside his pocket and took out a piece of candy instead and puts it in his mouth.

"If they're being that nice to others, they might still be in the side of God." I turned my gaze away, knowing that he'll snap sooner or later.

There was a brief silence before a new noise was heard.

"No, they're not." He simply answered with a slightly muffled voice from the candy. I can hear the candy being hit with his hard sharp teeth that overwhelms his own voice. I can only hear the clanking sounds from it. I was distracted.

"Why do you say that?" Despite being distracted by the candy, I took my time remembering what we were just talking about and was able to think of an appropriate response.

"Do you know about that new case about King Abaddon?" He turned his head to me when he talked for the first time.

I shook my head, still thinking about what made him interested about the King. I hardly even know the king. I don't even suspect us having a king. I wonder why that topic made him turn his head to me as he speak.

"Well, the case is all about the murders of 666 random demons and they thought that it was King Abaddon who killed them." He quickly talked like there's no tomorrow. I feel like the previous Sallos that beat me up until I was out of breath is someone else entirely than the candy-eating Sallos that I'm talking to right now.

"If that's the case, then they should arrest him." I tilted my head to the side. I don't know what the problem is.

"Yeah, but some demons don't think that King Abaddon is the real culprit." He walks towards me, still playing with the candy in his mouth. The clanking sound is as loud as his footsteps that gradually gets louder each second. He stopped as he reached my face and stared at me dead serious in the eyes. "I am one of them." He proclaimed.

Afterwards, he turned away and went back to the seat he was sitting on when he was drinking his hot chocolate. I guess it's not hot anymore since it was cooled off for quite some time while he's eating candy and talking to me.

"Why is that?" I continued the conversation with absolutely no intentions of breaking it. He sharply turned to me like I've said or done something wrong. "Why do you think he's innocent?"

He paused for a while, staring at me like I'm some kind of idiot. Then sighed before finally answering, "there are a lot of evidences and proofs already stored in. It will take years before I finish explaining." I blinked at him twice. "If you want to help us prove the King's innocence, you can join us in a group."

I turned away, my smile and laugh also fading away... "I'll think about it." I finally moved my mouth after a long pause.

Sallos nodded then was about to head out and exit the room. He turned to me for the last time and muttered, "don't forget about me." Then slammed the door as he left. What a rude guy, slamming the door after a subliminal message...

I am now recovered from all the injuries I had. If it wasn't for the King, then I'm already dead by now. Did he hear my wish? Well, he heard it or not, I must give him my thanks. And as thanks, I decided to always be updated in the news.

I had read the news about how the King was arrested for murdering 666 demons. I'm confused. Isn't he the same one who made the one and only law, "do not kill any other demons"?

I was walking around while holding the thrown newspaper. My mind is flying away again as I walk absentmindedly. I then bumped into a wall where it looks like it already has been abandoned and deserted. I looked up to examine it more clearly. I squinted and furrowed my eyebrows as I examine and know a lot more.

Holding the torn newspaper in my hand, hoping to see a map, I threw it and littered. Well that was useless, there wasn't a map. "I'm sorry, wall." I hopelessly apologized to a wall. How stupid that must have been. But I didn't care. I then continued on with my life with the plan to look for Sallos.

I turned around to walk away from the wall I just bumped into. As I did, I saw Sallos in the corner of my eye.

"What are you doing here?" We simultaneously asked.

We stared at each other for a while before Sallos started talking, knowing that whatever I answer is useless. He sighed as he says, "this is my hideout."

I snorted and laughed out loud, doubling over. I laughed so hard that the next thing I know, I'm on the floor while holding my stomach to contain myself and rolling around like some kind of animal. "H-hideout.... hahaha, that's a good one!" I joked.

"I'm not the only one who's in the hideout." Sallos sternly responded. That took a while. I would've known that Sallos can interrupt my laughter anytime. "666 is the organization. Do you want to join?"

"Hey, that rhymed!" I staggered my way to stand up, still not recovered from my over-laughter. "What is that organization about? You're a member there?"

"Yes." He slightly nodded. "The organization, as I told you before, helps the Royal Family, particularly the King. If you want to save the King by proving his innocence, you can join us, and we can exchange proofs and evidences regarding the case." He slightly smiled. No one is able to recognize that that was a smile. Only someone who's close enough to him can recognize it. He really likes the King, doesn't he? Of course if he doesn't, he wouldn't be in the organization right now.

"I'm too lazy, man." I justified. "Besides, the King was already arrested and put in jail." I scratched the back of my head while still looking at him with a lingering smile.

He let out a "hmph." While smiling. That smile isn't the usual scary smile that he always wears, it's a sincere one. Whenever the King is in topic, he'll always get out of character. "That doesn't stop us from still proving his innocence." He looked up and, for the first time, brightly smiled. "That's how determined we are, that's how much we love the King. He saved us, and now we want to return the favor."

"You are enjoying this, aren't you?" I asked with a wide smirk.

"Who knows." He shrugged while still wearing that bright smile.

He continued on, entering the "hideout" that they have. One glimpse of the inside was enough for me to believe in them.

The outside, which looks so old and abandoned, is something they use for camouflage or something to ward off attention. They didn't want anyone knowing that they are helping the King. I wonder why. While the inside is something so opposite. The inside looks so grand and new that it makes you forget about the outside. They really are so determined to prove the King's innocence. He saved them, he said? Does that include me too? I was saved by him, wasn't I? The King also saved me when I was in the verge of death...

I clicked my tongue and advanced my way inside the "hideout."

"What made you decide?" Sallos asked, surprised.

"A person who showed so much determination. He's also someone important so I can't ignore his obvious signs that he wanted to be with his friend as he works." I answered, trying to figure out all the machines with a smile.

He tilted his head to the side, confused. "I don't understand."

"Of course you don't. You're an idiot."

"Hey now..."

I laughed, stopping what I was doing to the machine, whatever it was, and faced him with a wide bright smile.

He did not react. He was silent. This isn't like him at all. I snorted in my mind and thought, "when did he even act like himself whenever the King is mentioned?"

"You're doing it wrong." He suddenly pushed me away and began working on the machine.

I looked at him with my face full of wonder. I tilted my head to the side and stared in awe as he quickly pushed buttons without even looking at them. He just kept his gaze on the monitor, hardly moving.

"Done." He says after such time. I didn't know how long, I was too distracted by his hard work and determination that I lost track of time.

"What did you do?" I asked, quickly getting back at my feet and dashing to the machine to see what he just did.

He did not answer as I look through the machine in every nook and cranny. I saw people walking around the streets in their own businesses. There was this particular person that the monitor is following though. A man with short spiky blonde hair that wears a blue hoodie. I don't know who that is nor why the camera is following him but I know that Sallos has something to do with this.

I dryly looked at Sallos. He, immediately understanding, shrugged. "Grim targeted this particular human and I don't know--"

"Human?!" I immediately interrupted, slamming my hands on the table.

"Yes, Ryan. He is a human. Any complaints?" Grim, the leader of 666, entered in such a plain way. If he wanted to explain things clearly, he'd better not insert himself in a conversation between two other demons.

"Why are you stalking a human?!" I asked, a bit furious about why he decided to stalk on a harmless and innocent human.

"Don't tell me you're still in the side of God." Sallos slightly shook his head and smacked his face in the form of a facepalm.

"I'm not. I'm just curious." I justified.

"He's not an ordinary human. He's already dead--" Grim calmly explained.

"Dead?!" I interrupted with the same tone and volume once again. I looked at Sallos with utter disbelief while he just shrugs and let Grim continue explaining.

"He was sent to Hell shortly after his death and befriended the King. The King, after being imprisoned, gave him some abilities so he could protect himself and the Princess." He calmly continued like nothing happened.

"So he's like the Princess's bodyguard?"

"Yes." He nodded courteously. "He's very powerful now he's in the possession of some demon abilities so he has some flaws here and there. Even if he has demon abilities, his left eye would glow blue, attracting attention. He also doesn't know his own strength and so, sometimes ends up hurting other demons without meaning it. The one and only purpose of him being alive is to protect and care for the Princess, acting as her substitute father."

"So, like us, he was also saved by the King?" I asked, turning back to the monitor of the machine.

"Indirectly."

I hummed as I observe the dead human who's still roaming around safely in Hell. I'm surprised that he's still alive despite all the demons who are hungry for human souls--oh right, he has demon abilities!

"Then maybe he's the true culprit?" I suddenly blurted out without thinking.

The two guys looked at me with utter surprise. It's not their stare when they look at me like I'm some kind of idiot, it's that particular stare that they didn't expect me to say something smart like that. It's different. They're not disappointed that I'm such an idiot, they're surprised that I can be smart. Either way, I feel offended.

"It makes sense...doesn't it?" I tilted my head to the side and awkwardly smiled. "I mean, if he has demonic abilities and is new to Hell, he can kill 666 demons unintentionally with his new abilities. Maybe the King accepted the fate of being guilty to cover him up?"

The two guys then stared at each other. I don't know if they're ignoring me or they're thinking about what I just explained.

"I mean, it's a good theory." Sallos cleared his throat and turned to me.

"Then we should start and continue stalking him until we could prove him guilty!" Grim excitedly exclaimed as he starts pressing buttons again. I have no idea what he's doing so I just let him.

"It's too smart for you." Sallos puts his hand on his chin, thinking deeply.

"Hey now..." I stared at him blankly, a bit offended if I may admit.

"I mean, your head is always off-track and--"

"Stop it." I solidly interrupted him.

"I'm not even done yet. I haven't told you how you're--"

"I said stop it." I interrupted him again with the same expression, tone and voice.

"And that time that proved your utter idiocy--"

"I said 'STOP', damnit Sebastian!!" I slammed my hands against the machine in front of me, breaking it.

Grim stared at the broken machine he was just working on. His head slowly turned to me, emitting a creepy vibe. "What did you do?" He asked in a deep low voice that is beyond anyone's.

He then stood up from his seat and aggressively took me by the collar. "WHAT DID YOU DO?!!!" He couldn't take it anymore and so, he shouted.

"It was my fault, Grim. I took the teases too far." Sallos held Grim's shoulder and turned him around. Grim faced him with such wrath, anger and hate in his eyes.

"Guess you'd just have to replace the whole machine." I slightly shook my head.

"How can you be so calm about this?! YOU DID THIS!" Grim shook me aggressively. His emotions right now are nothing but anger. I did not care. I guess I was used to Sallos doing this usually.

I was a bit impatient with the shaking that I yawned. Unfortunately, this made Grim angrier and then finally slammed my body to the already broken machine. I spurt out blood and see my limbs flying across the whole room. The room now looks like a bloody massacre. I closed my eyes for a second because I was disgusted by the sight in front of me.

I opened my eyes and saw Grim's body, lying down on the ground, unconscious. I see Sallos beside me on a bed with candy in his mouth with a carefree expression. "How are you?" He asks in a carefree manner. Like nothing bothers him, like nothing is happening around him. There are still blood stains everywhere but pieces of me have been regenerated and healed. I don't know where my excess limbs are but I hope that it's in a safe place.

I looked at my body and then around the whole room, taking a chance to examine and analyze what happened again. "Fine." I finally answered after a long silence.

I stood up from the bed and walked towards the now fixed machine like magic. I turned to Sallos while pointing at the machine with my index finger. "Did you do this?"

Sallos shrugged while smiling. "Who knows." He answered albeit a bit muffled from the candy.

"Then about Grim..." I turned my gaze towards Grim, who's still lying down on the ground unconscious.

"I just knocked him unconscious for a while. It would be troublesome if he stayed conscious. He'll soon wake up." He reassured me but the smile suddenly disappeared.

"And if he doesn't?"

"He will." He swore, wearing such a serious face. He looks so sure so I didn't bother to further ask.

I turned away, scared that that serious face will turn into a more serious one. The more serious face is like the Inner Hell-- rather die than encounter it. It hurts me just by thinking about it.

I continued to examine what happened and finally reached a conclusion. "You did all this."

Sallos snorted then laughed. I did not laugh back nor feel embarrassed because of the chances that I may be wrong. I know I'm correct. His laugh doesn't change this fact.

"Haha.... Yeah, you're right." He openly admitted after he laughed.

"You admitted it so soon?"

"I'm a demon, can't help it." He ruffled my hair. "Come on, let's go. Don't wanna be late, right?"

I looked at him suspiciously. I know he's dangerous but why did he do all of this? Why did he go to all that trouble? To knock Grim unconscious, to fix and upgrade the machine, to take care and watch over me... Why? He's usually lazy and laid-back. What did I do to deserve this sudden change in attitude?

The next day--...

Haha there's no "next day." Everything is dark and red and full of fire that you don't even know when the sun or moon rises. There's no "day" or "night." And because of this, there are no "weeks" and "months." There is a year because once in a very long while, all of the demons sleep. It's scheduled. Demons don't sleep but once in a very long while, they do. When we wake, it's already the next "year."

So what's this "next day" that I'm talking about? It's about we returned to the 666 hideout. Sallos and I are roommates, we live in the same house. He's like a brother to me now haha.

"Woah cool, the Monitor Room looks so clean!" I stared in awe and looked around. My gaze turned to the wardrobe. I dashed there and wore the black robe and took the scythe beside it.

"Why did you wear that? We're not--"

"I sense somebody." I bluntly answered.

Sallos focused his abilities, closing his eyes. He opened them in a sudden manner and also dashed to the wardrobe, wore his robe and took out a scythe. He dashed to the Alarm Room and rang the alarm.

"Attention, attention. There is a human going here. Wear all your clothes and take out all your scythes." He announced in such a panic.

Afterwards, he quickly returned to the Monitor Room. He ignored me as he passed and started pressing buttons and levers. After such time, the monitor displayed the guy that has blonde hair and blue hoodie again. The thing that bothers me is that...it looks like he's heading to our hideout.

"Sebastian, what is the meaning of this?" I slightly panicked. "I didn't think it will be the prime suspect that's going to come."

"I know, Ryan. For now, let's just make him think that this is an ordinary hideout with no connections to the King whatsoever."

I nodded in agreement.

As if on cue, the main door to the hideout slammed open and there is a man there, standing threateningly before us. We could not move for he looks so dangerous. Even Grim knows he's too dangerous.

We calmly continued our work like it's no big deal. Of course, the prime suspect also walked without attracting too much attention. He worked his way forward. It seems like he's following me. Could it be?! He knows that I'm suspecting him?!

My thoughts swirled around and because of this, I wasn't able to focus well. When I'm finally knocked back to reality, I see Zan in front of me, glaring. His left eye glows blue in contrast to every red here.

"Where is your main room?" He asks. Even though he's small, I feel like he can look down on me and make me bow down before him.

I gulped, not knowing what to do now. Sallos didn't tell me how to act when he asks me about something.

After a while (he's very patient), I moved my mouth saying, "I do not know, sir." I turned away so that I won't face him as I speak...which is a little hard because I can't bow down like humans do when they want to avoid communication. I bow down, I can still easily face him since he's small and I'm tall. Humans are very different from demons.

He furrowed his eyebrows and narrowed his eyes at me. "You do know." He stated. "Tell me where it is NOW or I'll have to shred you into pieces!" He boldly proclaimed, already posing himself in a killing stance.

I then obediently pointed at the Monitor Room like a scared little dog then there he goes, ignoring me and walked his way to the Monitor Room.

I was left scared and trembling. I was so scared that the Monitor Room might be in trouble because of that guy. Not only the room itself but also the people who are there right now!

What should I do? What should I do?

"He won't do something." A voice reassured me. I turned around bit there was no one there. "He just wants to ask." I turned again and there was no one there. What was that voice I heard just now? Was it someone I know or some kind of stranger but knows the dead human or--?

My thoughts are interrupted by a hand on my shoulder. I sharply turned around and saw Sallos's worried face as soon as he saw mine. "What's wrong?" He asks with a worried and a slightly panicked tone.

"I--... Zan is in the Monitor Room." Sallos looked at me with utter shock. "I d-didn't want to tell him at first but he w-was--" without letting me finish, he dashed to the Monitor Room, still wearing that shocked face.

I followed after him, not further questioning the reason why. I'm quite sure that I know the reason-- because of our knowledge of Zan. He can kill anyone with his abilities that he received from the King.

Once I got there, Zan is having a calm conversation with Grim. The two of them are sitting down on a circular table while having cups of hot chocolate with marshmallows, like the one that Sallos was drinking.

Sallos stands in a corner, shocked and confused. I found myself mimicking his expressions.

"So we have an agreement?" Zan asks, holding his cup up.

"Yes, of course. Just don't do anything reckless. Protect her with all your life, Knight." Grim nodded, reaching his hand out. Zan took and shook it. He leaves the empty cup and proceeded to exit. He passed us like air and then like the air he treats us, he suddenly vanished.

We stare at Grim, who's being so laid-back and carefree, like there wasn't a dangerous man who entered here.

"What was all that?!" I asked, confused and panicking.

Grim, who has already took off his robe and put down his scythe, stands up and approached me. "It's called a meeting." He professionally told me. He walked back to the monitor and started pressing buttons and pulling levers and all that until the monitor displays the dangerous man who was once in the same room.

"The agreement is also part of the meeting?" Sallos asks, taking another piece of candy.

"Of course. Everything he has to say to me is part of the meeting." Grim answers, his eyes glued to the monitor.

"And what's this meeting all about?" I tried being skeptical. I know that Grim hides awfully a lot of information from us. Can't blame the founder and oldest member of this organization for not telling us anything. I crossed my arms and raised a brow, looking sassy.

"I will send the Princess to Earth, as Zan requests and tell her a lie that doesn't sound so convincing: It's because she consumes too much human souls and because she's an orphan and has no one to take care of her-- also told by him." Still, he doesn't look at who he's talking.

"Why does he need to take the Princess? We can surely take care of her." Sallos asks.

"There's no certainty about that, Sebastian. We are far much weaker than him. I'm sure he can take care of the Princess easier than us." Grim turned and looked at Sallos as he speak.

"What's in it for you? You never make a deal if you don't benefit." I remained skeptical.

"Of course I benefit. 1.) I can finally test the portal to Earth. 2.) The Princess can be safe in the hands of a man who the King greatly trusts." He smiled.

"You built a portal?!" Sallos and I simultaneously asks with utter shock.

"Since when?" I continued.

"I don't remember." He bluntly answered.

The two of us stared at him blankly. We know something is up. Grim has a great memory, probably taken from how old he is. He's older than this organization and we're not even sure how old this organization is. We don't even know how old Abaddon is!

"You always remember." Sallos commented. I should've commented instead but he did it before me. That's good news for me.

"Something is wrong, isn't there?" I commented too. I can't let Sallos take the whole spotlight.

Grim paused to turn at us and, with a smile and an index finger on his lips, saying, "it's a secret." As he hummed along.

I sighed, knowing how hopeless it is to further ask him. Why does he need to hide the fact that he built a portal to Earth? It's a great invention.

I turned to Sallos, who has the same idea as me. He sighed and shrugged. I sighed back. It looked like we were talking telepathically, an ability neither of us posses.

"What are you two doing?" Grim asked dryly. We didn't sense him move for some reason...

"We were talking about how your plan is stupid." Sallos boldly stated.

"It's not stupid." He calmly protested.....what? "After all, we can't just look after the Princess all the time. Besides, that's why Zante Lino is still alive-- his main purpose is to act as a substitute father for the Princess so let's help him, the man who the King greatly trusts."

We were left speechless. He already explained to us about that dead guy. This just means he trusts the King's decisions more than his own. So this is the 666, huh. Prioritizing the one they idolize more than their own. I'm not against it though, I mean I'm also a member of this said organization. It just makes me proud that whatever happens, they never forget their true objective for joining the organization.

"But he's also dangerous! What if he also attacks the Princess?" Sallos panicked.

"Do you not remember? It was the King's decision to trust him. If you don't trust the King's decision, you don't trust him. Do you want to be burdened by the fact that you don't trust the person you idolize?" Grim calmly argued.

Sallos clicked his tongue, not able to think of a good comeback. Afterwards, he exited, still a bit angry.

"Do you think I'm the reason why he's mad?" Grim asks.

I turned to him. He's still as calm as always. He doesn't care whether or not he has hurt someone may it be physically or emotionally. "No, not really." I answered.

He nodded and continued, "that goes for him too. He didn't think that I'm wrong, that's why he exited without a comeback because he knows that all his comebacks will backfire."

"Why are you telling me this?" I ask with a brow raised. Something really is odd about Grim lately. Is it because of the King's influence?

"You're his best friend. And his exit is the proof that he agreed to my 'stupid' plan. Don't you agree?"

I nodded and said nothing more.

Grim continued stalking Zan, which may be a means of being cautious. The Princess's life is at stake. He wouldn't afford losing her too. The Royal Family started to become devastated. He doesn't want to see them completely destroyed. None of us wants to.

"Deane... Deane, wake up!" I hear voices waking me up, with a violent shake.

"Nnghh..." I angrily groaned. I slowly open my eyes and see that it was Sallos who the culprit was. "What is it?" I asked him with a heavy sigh .

"Why are you even sleeping?" Sallos raised his brow. "Anyway, get your butt up and let's go to the hideout."

"Why, at this time?" I complained,  turning away from him, cuddling myself as I do.

"There is literally no time in Hell, Deane." He blankly commented. "Do I need to shout at your ear to wake you up?"

"Ugh, you're such a disturbance, Sallos..." I continued to groan and complain.

Sensing his irritation and hand movement, I let him roll me out of the bed that I was lying down on and hit the hard rocky ground below.

"It's important!" He insisted.

"Ok, ok. I'm up, I'm up." I scratch my head as I slowly rise.

"Quick, meet me outside."

I groan and complain as I follow him outside. He didn't say anything as he saw me. He just further walks away. I was too sleepy to make out where he was going exactly and I just blindly follow him.

We stopped at an abandoned and rusty building... Oh wait, it's the hideout.

"What are we doing here? What if somebody's inside?" I panicked.

"Don't worry, there's no one here around the time that you're sleeping." He answered, entering the building. He doesn't face me as he talks.

"You use my sleeping schedule as some sort of time-telling device?" I blindly follow him inside.

"Basically."

I dryly stared at him and heaved a sigh.

We entered the Monitor Room and Sallos dashed to the pedestal looking off. He stepped on it but nothing happened.

"Hmm... Well that's weird..." He stated, jumping on the pedestal. It's a very short pedestal. It makes me wonder how Sallos knew that that was the portal. I'm not even sure there was. The only one who knows about it may be Grim.

"It is, isn't it?" The deep low voice entered. It sent shivers down my spine. We're busted.

"Deane, don't try to impersonate Grim, it's scaring me." Sallos continued to jump, not facing either of us.

"I am Grim, idiot." Grim dryly stared.

Sallos froze. After a moment of realization, he slowly turned his head to us and realized that Grim is standing by the doorway, with a calm expression in his face. The calmness just makes it scarier.

"Hey... Grim, hi, hello." Sallos stuttered.

"Here, if you want to go to Earth via my portal so badly, you have to break one of the rules in the 666 organization. The punishment is simple: retire."

"It is simple, isn't it?" Sallos smirked. "I'd rather stay in Earth than to stay here with you. Who knows, maybe you're really a traitor who wants to target the Royal Family." He glared with a bold swear. "Deane, let's go."

I jolted from the call of my name. "But I..." I turned my eyes to Grim but my head is still glued on Sallos. "I don't want to retire." I meekly excused.

Sallos slightly frowned, hoping nobody sees. But I see, I notice. That's a fact he also knows so well.

Grim readied his hand on a lever. Sallos is still frowning, looking like he isn't even paying attention on either Grim or the lever.

Grim gripped the lever tightly and pulled it. Before I can notice, I'm already on the pedestal with Sallos as Grim pulled the lever at last.

I wasn't too quick to notice. I did not officially retired like Sallos, I'm still a member of 666, just in Earth. And besides, I'm not directly the one who violated one of the 666 rules, he just pulled me along. That doesn't count.

We are on Earth now. We immediately sensed something is wrong in our bodies. We feel...less devilish. Our once very tall bodies shrunk but still taller than Zan. Zan's quite short.

The very long nails shrunk like that of a human's. Our limbs became fatter like there's flesh in us. Our bodies became like that of an average human. I can tell because I've been observing humans for quite a while. I have been observing them before and during my time in 666. Of course by now, I can distinguish different types of human.

What's weird is why our bodies automatically disguised itself as a human's as soon as we step on Earth.

We landed on a dumpster somewhere around Earth. I can't literally point it out exactly where but I know one thing about our situation now: this place stinks!

I changed my form to a mouse and hid behind Sallos. "Well even if our bodies disguised themselves as that of a human's, we still retain our powers even in the human form." I whispered on Sallos's ear.

"Ugh.... Don't state the obvious, Deane." Sallos holds his head and sighed.

I chuckled and laughed. It's a cute sound since I'm still disguising as a mouse. Mouse squeaks and that's what he hears. Squeaking as laughing.

Sallos slowly stands up, quickly adapting the human environment. "Now, where should we start?"

6 months had passed and everything seems alright. The only problem is: I can't seem to have contact with Grim or 666 no matter what I do. "I did not retire." I keep telling myself. I have no right to stop having contact with the organization that I didn't retire to.

Sallos doesn't seem to care. Together, we bought cellphones to keep in touch. He messaged me, saying he has been hired as a chauffeur of the Auden family. I have heard that the Auden family is wealthy and famous. That's not an exaggeration. They own over 500 successful stores around the world and counting. The Auden family is still so young. I wonder how much they will earn by the time their children become adults.

"How's your side?" Sallos asked through the phone.

"Still undercover in the US Government." I rocked my rotating chair back and forth, with my eyes glued to the monitor. Entry #7.

"Don't overdo it." He says.

"I'm not. They think I'm lazy."

"Good. Keep it that way." He hung up.

Well that was rude.

I continued typing Entry #7. I'm so glad that there are some proofs and evidences that the King is innocent in Earth. But that's weird. How does some of the books they have know about that case that's popular in Hell? That's suspicious. Very suspicious...

In the middle of nowhere, disguising as a businessman going to work at night, my phone vibrates. I put it on silent mode but kept the vibration. Looking like a call from my boss, I picked it up hurriedly. "Yes?" I quickly called out.

"You like determination right?" The voice on the other line asked.

"Hm? What makes you say that?"

"Never mind that. There's someone who's very determined to search for you."

A wide smirk appeared on my lips as I looked at the dark sky that reminds me of my home. "I'm looking forward to it." I whispered. I then hung up and continued walking towards nowhere.

With my long sleeves rolled up, feet slowly getting tired, I continued my journey to nowhere disguised as a human businessman.
