Ch. 1: The Demon

It's an ordinary day in hell. Demons are attacking, people are screaming. On days like these, kids like me...should be playing around and wreaking havoc too, no?

"Celeste, do you want anything to eat?" Mother asked me with that sweet voice of hers.

I merely smiled in reply. Mother smiled back, as in to say that she would get some food. Normally, I would eat human souls. Those who are suffering are the most delicious ones!

After a few minutes, Mother returned with a plate of human souls.

"Here you go, Celeste."

"Thank you very much mother!" I smiled brightly. Afterwards, I thought of a weird question. "Where do you get the souls, mother?" I asked curiously.

She giggled as if my question truly was a joke, as she answered "you'll know soon enough."

She held me close to her bosom, singing me a gentle lullaby while we watch our neighborhood...

Year 4
I was thought how to count. This is year 4, I believe. I was also well-educated with the terms and words in here! It's very fun!

"Mother, can I visit Father?" I asked my mother, who was getting dressed for also visiting Father.

"No. I'm sorry but you will not." Her strict voice shocked me.

"H-huh? Wh-why? We always visit him for the past 3 years. Why can't I visit him now?!" I feel myself getting indulged by the demon's personalities. I should be happy, right? After all, I am a demon.

"It's too personal. You should understand this, Celeste. Your father and I have some important discussions to make. Stay here or prepare to fight me!" This is the first time...the first time that I heard her coarse voice. All this time, she was being nice to me. That's why I refused to be evil because I was too overpowered by her kindness. Why...? Why now?

"I...understand Mother." I bowed my head in despair. My shoulders slumped. I drag myself in my room.

Mother didn't say anything in reply. She just clicked her tongue, then rushed away. This is the first time I was left alone...

I waited for Mother to come back. For how many hours have I waited. I counted them and I was stuck at 36 and then I lost count.

Maybe Mother's in trouble...

I grabbed my nearest clothes, then rushed off outside. I looked around the neighborhood and she was just...gone.

I went to the city, went into different malls and stores and not one of them has my mother.

I went to the only place where I didn't look yet-- the Hell Jail. It's like a house but you're not allowed to go outside.

I walked past every cell. I stopped when I heard my name being called out by a familiar voice.

"Celeste!"

As I turn to that direction of the voice, a lot of people began crowding in the cell where that familiar voice is. A lot of officials, prisoners and such rushed there.

"Lucy is dead."

Those words were etched in my mind as if it is a grave where Lucy's name is carved. Lucy, my mother, is dead... Why?

"What happened to her?!" An officer panicked. He was very angry with Abaddon.

"I keep telling you, she did this to herself! I did not do anything!" He begged the officer. But he refused to listen...

To be fair, I thought demons are already dead and are sent to hell. So why do they die? Or wait, was that a lie made by Mother?

"Father, do demons die?" I hesitantly asked him, voice cracking a bit.

"Sadly, they can, Celeste. They can..."

"B-but--" I refused to think that Mother died. Even if she treats me like a bag of trash, she's still the mother I always cared about. She was always the mother that I look up to. She's always the mother that I cared for...

"It's true, Celeste. Sometimes, you just need to accept your unexpected fate, even if you don't want to."

"D-don't die too, Father! You're all I have left!"

"Don't worry. Father won't die that easily..." He ruffled my hair. That didn't change my emotions a bit.

Year 13
"Celeste, right? The daughter of Abaddon and Lucy?" A random guy asked me.

"I will murder you if you get any closer!!!" I quickly took the sword and pointed at him. "Take a step. I dare you." I glared.

"Woah woah there. I'm not here to harm you. I'm here to help you." The guy backed away slowly.

"I see..." I lowered the sword and took a dagger unnoticeably. "What's your deal?!"

"Look, I'm a member of this unspoken organization named 666. We, the members, admire your father so much so we decided to help his only daughter. At least we want his legend to stay forever." He explained.

"666? What kind of name is that?" I looked at him in disbelief.

"That's the point. That's why we're hidden. Because the name 666 is completely pointless and stupid. So, what do you say? Do you want to come with us?" He offered his hand out to me while smiling.

I squinted my eyes at him, still suspicious. Then, out of the blue, I sank the dagger in his outstretched hand. He didn't flinch nor move an inch. He was still there...smiling...

I sighed as I pull out the dagger. His hand regenerated immediately.

"Ok. Don't play tricks on me!"

"Don't worry, I won't." He winked.

With that being said and done, I kept the dagger in case of emergency. I still have my abilities as a demon anyway.

"Alright bucko, I'll accept your offer. I'll come with you." I accepted, taking his hand.

"Great choice." He complimented.

After is said and done, we went to the said organization, 666. It looks old and rusted but inside, it looks grand!

"We will send you to earth. This serves as both a punishment and a way to make someone take care of you."

"What do you mean a punishment? What did I do wrong?"

"Oh, I don't know. Maybe because you murdered the people that go in your house."

"It's just self-defense. Besides, human souls are best if they're suffering so I torture them first before actually killing them." I justified my actions.

"But still, you murdered a lot for your age! Save some for us, you big horn trash!" He shouted at me.

I just scratched my ear, pretending to be deaf. "That's a lousy made-up reason why I should be punished."

"Just shut up and climb that ladder over there. You might encounter some rocks and fire in the way, just telling you. Be careful on your way."

"Do you have another way? Like, easier and safer?"

"Yes. We do have a portal here. But your landing won't be in China. It will be in a random place."

"China? What's that?"

"It's a place in earth." As soon as he answered that, he pulled the lever for the portal that I wasn't aware that I'm already standing on.

And with that left in mind, I may be in earth...

Ugh, what is this place? Today is year 13, isn't it? Hm? My body seems a little less...devilish. There's a lot of sudden changes in here. I know I can't keep up.

Huh? A note?

"Don't kill people for fun or 'self-defense.'" It says.

Oh well. I wonder what food they got in here.

I looked around my surroundings, hoping to find something useful. I looked in this...thing. I don't know what it's called. It smells so putrid! What is this?! Why does it even exist?! Ugh!

Huh? What is this?! It's...like...falling water. From where? Up there? Heaven? Water is falling from heaven? God, you better not be disposing water in earth! Geez. Maybe he already knows that I'm here so he's disposing water.

I...don't like water...

So, I'm a human now apparently. But technically, I'm still a demon, right? I still have my abilities so that's great.

So far, I've learned about the disposing thingy and the falling water. Their names are too long. I should have a shortcut for them. But I wonder what it can be...

As I dwell inside my own mind, the darkness looms closer. Oh goody! The darkness is my friend~!

I walked around the neighborhood and stared at the beauty of their own-produced light. Wow. I never thought humans can be this smart!

As I walk around, I bumped into a woman.

"Hey watch it--" before I continue to scold her, she started approaching me with worried eyes.

"I'm very sorry. Did I hurt you?"

That tone...is like Mother's...

"N-no... I'm fine." I replied. Her sweet and gentle voice and tone assured me that this woman is as kind as Mother. I should trust this woman.

"Where's your home?"

"My home? In the...disposal." I answered, unsure if I was correct with my word-guessing.

"Garbage disposal?! You don't have a home? That's horrible! Don't worry, I will take you in my home for the night." She smiled brightly. She has 0 intentions of harming me. This smile, this voice, is definitely like my Mother's! But...also that voice...is from Mother. She...she...left me...

"Are you...gonna leave me afterwards? Are you gonna leave me when the natural light has come up again?!!" I shouted at her, afraid that she will leave me all alone.

She glanced on the side, wearing a sour face. What's wrong woman? Answer already!!

"I-I'll not..." Her voice sounded unsure but I'll take the chance.

I was silenced, not knowing what to say.

And so...my life begins in this woman's house...
