"Hey Y/n." My brother Nico said. "Hey." I said not taking my eyes off of someone. "What are you staring at?" Nico asked me. "Huh.....n-nothing." I said hoping my face wasn't red. Nico always seemed to catch me staring at someone. "Y/n, why not just ask for advice?" he said kneeling down infront of me. I looked down "Why? Its not like that's going to get her to like me. No one does." I felt tears in my eyes. Last time I confessed my love it didn't go so well.

"Hey, um Annabeth do you have a moment?" I asked her. She turned her head and smiled warmly "Sure, I'll catch up later." she said to her cabin and Percy. I had gathered the courage to confess to her and I didn't want to lose it so I pulled her away as fast as possible. "I um...Annabeth I've been meaning to tell you that I like you." I said. "Aww me too, you are the best friend anyone could ask for." she said hugging me. "Annabeth, I like you too but, in a crush type of way..." Annabeth put her hands back at her side. "That is disgusting." she said. "Wait!" I said trying to hold her back. "Let go of me!" she said running away. I collapsed and cried the rest of the day. Then I woke up only to find out that Percy and Annabeth liked each other. Worst. Day. Ever.

Nico wrapped his hands around me. I held him and cried into his shoulder. "I'm sure Piper isn't like that." He said still holding me. I let go of him and stood up. "Whatever," I said walking to my cabin. "Anyways I'm not going to talk to her, she can't hurt me if she doesn't know." I walked into a shadow and left Nico behind.
        I stripped my clothes off and put on my pajamas and fell asleep. When I woke up it was dark outside. I like the night especially since there's no one and there's plenty of shadows.
       I put on some jeans and a long sleeved shirt, I grabbed my black converse and shadow traveled outside since the door is so loud and I didn't want to take chances. I went into the forest with just my backpack, sword, and my watch which turned into a shield if I tapped it. I know that its probably really dangerous and since I'm new I don't 'know anything' but I'm really good with my sword and plus I can shadow travel away. I started climbing a tree until I reached a high place then I set myself down in a sitting position with my legs dangling on each side of the branch. I opened my backpack and pulled out my sketchbook and my pencil. I looked around hoping to find a monster that I could draw. I kept on looking then I found a fire ant. Not just any ant but the big ones. I heard that a camper, named Beckendorf, once got dragged in there and survived, but he died before I could discover this camp. I started drawing the shape of the ant and then I grabbed my night vision goggles. I started drawing the details and in no time it was complete. I wrote down the name and today's date then I wrote down the colors it was so that I could color it tomorrow. I drew a couple of more monsters when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned my head and found myself staring at a dryad. I sat there staring at her beautiful, elf-like, features before snapping back to reality. "I-I'm so sorry to disturb you," I stuttered as I began to put my things away "I was just leaving." Before she could reply I began to climb down. I gasped as I lost my grip and tumbled down the tree.
"Owww" I groaned as I sat up. Regret flooded me as I began to feel disoriented and saw spots. Crunch. My heart sunk as I realized I was now on the same level as the fire ants. My breath caught as I began to panic, I needed to leave, now! I pushed myself onto my knees, wincing as I did so because my body aches all over. The closest ant was now 15 feet away from me. I wanted to lay down so badly, but I don't have a death wish. I painfully crawled towards the tree trunk, as it had the largest shadow, tears began to well up in my eyes because of the pain and the fear of getting captured and dying here all alone. I extended my hand and saw the ant directly behind me. As I went in I felt a sharp pain on my foot, the ants claws dug into my foot but I pulled it away before it's grip got too strong.
I woke up in my bed with a bandage wrapped around my right foot and one around my back.
       "Finally, you're awake," Nico whispered as he walked over to me. He sat down on my bed and put his hand on my knee. "What happened to you last night?"

-two weeks later-

        I looked down at my foot, it has a big, nasty scar from the bite and occasionally it throbs. I sighed and layed down as I teared my eyes away from it. I closed my eyes and listened to the calming, repetitive sound of the waves. The cold wind blowing against me also felt nice.
       "Hey y/n!" I glared up at the person who woke me. Then realizing it was Piper, my face relaxed. I quickly sat up.
       "Oh uh hey?" I said awkwardly. Piper smiled down at me and sat down next to me.
       "It's nice to finally get some time to see my best friend again," she said facing the lake, then turning to look at me. Her beautiful blue-green eyes made me melt, her comment made me smile and slightly blush, she always made me feel special. "It's been so long since we've gotten time together."
       "Yeah, I'm sorry about that," I looked down at my hands and fidgeted with my silver infinity ring. "So how have you been?" I asked after like 4 seconds of silence.
"I've been okay, just a little worried about you, Nico told me you got hurt. I wanted to stop by and check on you, but I was so busy." She said.
"Oh haha it's fine. I'm totally okay, I just fell." I shrugged, smiling down at the ground. Then I looked up at her and her expression changed. She was staring at me intensely and I couldn't hold it. I blushed and looked away. "What?" I said with an awkward laugh.
"Nothing." She sighed. "I'm just wondering when you're gonna finally ask me out." My heart stopped. Did I hear her correctly?
"W-what?" I stuttered. Mentally facepalming at how flustered I was. My face felt really hot and I prayed my face wasn't as red as it felt.
Piper turned her body to face me and placed her hand on my knee. "Y/n, I see how you look at me, did you forget I'm a daughter of Aphrodite?" My breaths shortened, I'm going to die. She knows. My hands started to shake, and my lip trembled. She's gonna reject me before I even confess.
"I-I'm sorry. I di-didn't mean to- I get if you don't want to be friends anymore." I cried out. How was I so stupid? I have a crush on my best friend and now I'm going to lose her. I stood up and turned away from her about to run back to my cabin.
She held me back. "Wait. Don't be sorry. I like you too. . ." I looked down at our hands and back up at her with confused eyes. This is a dream. I know she did not just say that. I mean Pipes is straight, right? She dated Jason and when we started out as friends she told me about this guy in the Athena cabin who she was interested in so. . .
"Oh." Was all I could say. I know she confessed her feelings, but this all felt like a sick joke. She wasn't like that though. I was so confused. I took a breath and said I did in fact like her, even though she already knew that. She pulled me into a hug and I instantly felt relieved.
