Chapter 55: Night and Sky (New Version)
Every creature around them was sheltering, afraid of the silent war that was happening between the blessed child of Pan and the blessed child of Artemis. The wind died, the bushes ceased to rustle. In those frozen seconds, the only thing they could hear was the crunch of the winter floor under their foot.
In the midst of the darkness, a raging storm has begun; the wind blew at its strongest whisper, blowing and winding every corner. The calm water began to rage, the current becomes wild, wanting to escape. And it was a storm happening inside Riley.
Riley's eyes wandered and it landed to Aicelyn's eyes. The crystal blue eyes. He heaved a sigh, he knows that he was traitor for both kinds— He pledges his loyalty to the Titans from the very beginning yet it was broken by the Olympians' Juliet.
He needed to defeat her yet his body won't move. His whole doesn't want to hurt such a precious woman.
And then, Riley avoided her eyes, he looks up on the moon, watching at it changes its color just like eyes of the woman in front.
He was defeated. "The beginning of the end..." he whispered. "Do you see how beautiful the night and the sky when they are together?" Riley asked as she glanced at Aicelyn.
She was caught in surprise, Aicelyn wasn't expecting that question. It was trivial. "You're a man with a double meaning," Aicelyn stated.
Riley amusedly smiled. He knows the story behind the hatred of the night towards the sky. It was the tale of two demigods who have each other back yet one of them turned his back and never returned.
"A simple jealousy slowly turned into chaos."
It was Riley's last words before he disappeared into thin air. Aicelyn looked up to the sky and shut her eyes, she knows that no one can fix the scar, but it can be tended if the ones involved in it were willing to cure it.
"I don't get you," Skyler whispered.
Night scowled and grimaced, "The Great Skyler wouldn't get me, you won't feel the pain I've felt... especially that you were a child of Poseidon." his voice was calm yet the anger and hatred can be felt. His charcoal eyes were burning in anger as he looks at Skyler. "I don't like being your shadow, I don't like being an option when you're not available."
"You were my friend," Skyler stated.
Skyler's mind was already clear that he wouldn't feel any empathy towards Night once he saw him but, looking at him now made a huge difference. Night was his best friend, he was present in every milestone he gets.
"I feel envious of you." Night bitterly laughed, "I was pitiful, I was loathed by the Olympians in the Demigods Academy..."
Skyler's mind went blank. He unconsciously unsummoned his sword, he was longing for his best friend, and for him, a simple sorry could change everything. "Why did you let the darkness swallow me, Sky?" Night asked.
Skyler was caught off guard when Night suddenly charged at him. He was holding his sword tightly, ready to pierce right through Skyler.
Night halted when an arrow hit sword, he roamed his sight and saw a woman smirking in the tree near them. Sky back off a little and looked at the direction were Night was looking. "What are you doing here, Aizelle? I thought you are with Light."
"Well, I was resting here, then I heard a drama." Aizelle meaningfully said. She jumped out of the tree and yawn, she smirked when her eyes landed to Night, "Wow. Hindi mo pa rin ba magawang maging totoo kay Sky kahit magkakapatayan na kayo?"
"Shut up, klutz!" Night shouted.
"Oh, scary," Aizelle teased.
"Aizelle," Skyler warned, "Nasaan si Light?"
Aizelle avoided Skyler's eyes and whistled, "Well, I punched him earlier at hindi ko na alam kung nasaan na siya ngayon."
"And what the hell are you doing in the tree?"
"I was resting,"
"Resting instead of fighting?"
"Dude, bago ako dumating dito pinahirapan muna ako nina Eros at Apollo, I need to replenish my magic energy." Aizelle argued.
And as the moon shone, Aizelle's eyes glimmered as she looked at Night.
"She was the root of his hatred,"
Years ago, seven mighty demigods were ruling the Demigods Academy. They were part of the Primus Section, the highest section in the academy.
"Hey, Nighty." A woman called. Night was resting at the top of a tree, he was yawning as he opens his eyes. "Make talon," the woman added.
Night was containing his laughter as he jumped out of the tree, he suddenly poked her forehead, "What's the fetch?"
"It's wala lang. Why are you natutulog sa tree?"
"It's nothing,"
The woman squinted her eyes, "Did you narinig na naman 'yung mga garapatang demigods? They are not nakakatuwa talaga, I mean your blessing is mabangis. You can make tigil the time—"
"Thank you, Serena." Night whispered as he ruffles her hair, "Serena, I—"
"SKYLER!" Night was interrupted when Serena shouted and ran towards Skyler.
Night smiled sadly and held his chest, he knows that Serena wasn't feeling the same way he does. Because just like the others, Serena's attention poured down to that one guy— to Skyler.
"What are you doing here?" Skyler scowled.
"I'm just dinadalaw kayong two... And well, my other friend." Serena said. Skyler kissed her forehead like it was nothing, Night tried his best not to look at them but he failed.
Night knew Serena for two years, it was Skyler who introduced her to him and he knows that the two of them have something special that he didn't bother to ask. He avoided asking.
And for two years, his feelings were going deeper.
"Skyler, he wants you to attend your—"
"Ayoko,"
"She's your freakin' fian—"
"Ayoko,"
Night felt a pang on his head while the two were arguing in his front. "Dude, are you okay?" Skyler asked.
"Yeah," Night whispered. "I'll just excuse myself,"
Night walked away from them, he didn't bother to wait for their response. Inside his head, someone wants to enter. Venyr watches Night as he went out of the Demigods Academy. Night roamed around the Belster, demigods were watching him not because they admired him.
If Skyler was loved by the demigods, he was hated.
He was Kronos' son. He was the son of the enemies of the Titans.
"What is that demon doing here?"
"Shh! He might hear you,"
"Madam Stone might use him,"
"As a weapon?"
Night can't help but look down. He bit his lower lip as he marched towards the end of the Belster, their secret garden, he searched for the biggest and the most enchanting tree in the garden.
As his tears streamed down, darkness began to surround him. He rested his body to the tree; his lips were trembling as someone knocks at the door in his mind.
"Pitiful, Cooper." The woman said. From the ground, a figure of a woman appeared, her eyes resemble the earth and her presence was giving him an indescribable eeriness. It was suffocating. "My, my, are you scared of me, Son of Kronos?"
"What do you want from me, Gaea?"
"Come to my side and this nightmare of yours will end."
Night scowled. He was cursing Aizelle inside his mind, his memories about that day were thrown in his deepest hole and now his former friend is digging it in the pits of his hell. "Shut the fuck up, Buenatori."
"All you have to do is to ask," Aizelle stated.
Aizelle looked behind and lightly punched Sky's chest, "Bring him back, the Primus Section way." Aizelle mumbled.
Sky ruffled her hair. "I will," and smiled.
Aizelle once again looked at Night. She raised her middle finger, "Huwag ka na po sanang bobo," Sky pulled her near him before Night could do anything bad.
"Aizelle..." Sky whispered.
Aizelle galloped to the trees behind Sky and run away.
"That fucking klutz finally knows how to be a fucking monkey." Night languidly said.
The charcoal eyes and the cerulean eyes finally met. Sky cannot help but mock him because of Aizelle, he finally knows the hatred of his old friend.
"You see me as a threat yet I see you as a friend,"
