Nico emerged from the Slytherin common room looking quite happy, which was a change for him. He had just gotten an Iris message from Will Solace back at Camp. He now had a boyfriend.

He quietly walked to the dining hall for lunch and scanned the room for Piper. They had actually become good friends despite their differences.

He sat down and saw Piper at the Gryffindor table chatting with Jason, Persassy, and a girl with blonde hair.

His smile faded as he realized he would be eating lunch alone.

He grabbed a sandwich and quickly ate it, then looked around the room, waiting to be dismissed. At the table he could see his roommate, Charlie, and a girl reading a book. He decided to go to the owl tower to check up on Night.

As he got up, the girl and Charlie saw him and followed.

"Hey man" Charlie said. "This is Alex by the way. You headed to the owl tower?"

Nico nodded his head.

"We're coming with you, then" the girl - Alex - said.

Nico reached the owl tower and went to Night. He saw Charlie go to a small red owl, and saw Alex go to a small grey owl.

"This is Paprika" Charlie said suddenly. "He was my girlfriend's before she got sent to Azkaban."

"Uh... this is Night." Nico said, not really sure why he was communicating with this person. "A family friend gave her to me"

They both looked at Alex. She sighed. "This is Aspen."

They all awkwardly stared at eachother before Nico spoke up. "Why did you follow me here?"

"All the other houses hate us at the moment, so it's best not to go anywhere alone" Charlie said.

I nodded. It seemed like a reasonable thing.

"Oh... okay. I kinda figured they all hated us when I got nothing but rude comments in my first week here."

Alex snorted. "If rude comments are all you're getting then consider yourself lucky."

She stormed out of the owl tower. Charlie turned to me.

"Sorry about her, she's a little... salty. She'll mostly stick to her books and mechanics and not talk to anyone unless absolutely necessary. Me, on the other hand, I can be your best friend. Let's start over. Hi! I'm Charlie West, your roommate."

He extended his hand, and for once, I shook it and smiled.
