Chp 4: Diagon Alley
Hazel's POV:
I liked the Leaky Cauldron, it hardly had any modern aspects, which made me feel right at home. After breakfast, (a slightly greasy hash-brown) we decided to do our shopping.
Tom lead us out to the back. I looked around and noticed that everyone looked as confused as I felt. There was nothing there except weeds, a brick wall and some crash cans. Coach Hedge, however, looked pleased.
"I understand, we have to bash through!" He hefted his bat, a look of determination on his face. "Well, cupcakes, I'll be happy to oblige...!" He started to swing his bat, but was quickly stopped.
"Ah, no, mr Hedge..." Tom said in an old, creaky voice. "You actually enter like this.." He took out a thin stick, no, a wand, and tapped three bricks. Nothing happened. Then there was a collective gasp as the walls started to fold in on themselves, making a massive archway that lead onto probably the weirdest street I had every seen.
Leo's POV:
I gasped as the arch appeared. As we walked through it, I brushed my hand along the walls. There was absolutely zero machinery inside. It must be magic. I then looked at the street in front of us and gave a small double take. It was extremely narrow, busy, and had a lot of weirded stuff going on. A perfect place for an ADHD demigod!
Everyone just kind of stood there for a moment, taking in the sights. A small chuckle came from behind us.
"First time in the Alley, ay? I can tell by your faces. Everyone looks like that their first time. If I where you, I'd go to Gringotts first... The bank." He adds, taking in our lost faces. "At the very end of the road." And with that, he disappeared back into his pub.
We walked as a group down the street, looking left and right in awe. Out of one store, a woman came out carrying a yellow canary the size of a small Labrador. Outside another shop, 3 kids stared at a broomstick in the window display. However, my favourite shop by far was the multi-coloured joke shop name 'Weasley's Wizard Wheezes'. I couldn't wait to get in there!
Suddenly, we rounded a corner and saw Gringotts! A massive, gleaming white building that was by far the tallest one for miles.
"There it is." Breathed Annabeth. "Gods, the architecture..." she trailed of, taking it all in. With a small nod to each other, we entered.
