Chapter 16
Sila's POV
I groaned internally as my brain once again wormed its way into consciousness. Great, more torture. I lifted my head ever so slightly, and glanced around the room. Thalia was hanging from the ceiling, suspended over the pit. It hadn't taken us long to figure out where we where, which happened to be Gringotts Wizarding Bank, the "safest place on the planet". Haha, very funny. Bellatrix was sulking in the shadows, and Orion was talking to the wall.
It was my fault that we were here. If I hadn't been so weak when the Boggart showed my bro- no. He's not my brother. Not anymore, at least. If I hadn't been sulking in my room, I would have never gotten captured. If I hadn't gotten captured, Thalia would have never come looking for me. If Thalia hadn't come looking for me, she wouldn't have gotten captured. And if we hadn't gotten captured, we would have never gotten tortured and put our friends in danger.
Yeah, definitely my fault. I silently promised myself that I would be tougher if I made it through this. Which reminds me... No. Stupid ADHD.
"-mply with us, or they die." Orion was saying. All of a sudden, the air shimmered, and an image of him carving letters into my skin, an event that had happened earlier today.
Suddenly, the cavern rumbled, and there was a loud WHOOSH sound, which meant that goblins were passing over us.
"Curse those wretched goblins!" Bellatrix cried, emerging from the shadows.
"Bellatrix!" Orion wailed. The image disappeared, and with the fright that Bellatrix had given him, he threw the knife that he was holding, which happily lodged in my arm. I screamed in pain, signaling that I was awake. Bellatrix smirked knowingly in my direction, but the smirk quickly faltered when Orion turned to her.
"YOU JUST GAVE AWAY OUR LOCATION YOU STUPID GIRL!" He screamed at her. Orion slapped her hard across the face. Seeming to realize that whoever he was talking to was still there, he quickly slapped the wall, and a shimmery glaze that I hadn't realized was there disappeared.
Orion moved to Bellatrix again, but she quickly said,
"Wait! No! She's awake!" Bellatrix gestured to me. Orion turned to me and grinned evilly.
Great. This will be fun.
I screamed as the knife met my arm once again.
Leo's POV
Um... Where am I? Don't get me wrong, this is an awesome bedroom, even Leo-worthy, but how did I get here? My door creaked open, and in walked Calypso.
"Hey, Caly... So do you know where I am?"
She laughed that beautiful laugh of hers.
"You're at Hogwarts, Leo. Remember?"
"Mmmmm.... Nope!" I laughed. "Whatever. It seems awesome. So what'd I miss?"
Calypso's face turned grave. "Well, while you weren't here, Sila and Thalia got captured."
"Wait, what!? By whom?" I asked, startled that two huntresses could be captured that easily.
"Orion." Calypso answered. "But you can't say a word about this to anyone. Especially not the wizards. We're going to talk to to McGonagall-"
"Who?"
"Professor McGonagall, she's the headmistress. Now let me finish. We're going to talk to her after classes today about organizing a rescue mission."
I nodded and placed my head in my hands. If two of our best fighters had gotten captured that easily, our enemy must be pretty difficult.
"Alright."
We sat in silence for a minute.
"So..... where's the food?"
Calypso laughed. "Come on, Repair Boy. Put your robe on and lets go down to breakfast.
"Wait... Robe!? I have to wear a robe?" I complained.
"Yes, Leo, you have to wear a robe."
I sighed, got up, and slid into the robe.
"Ughhhhh... This is soooo uncomfortable!"
"Suck it up!"
"But I'm Supreme Commander of the Argo II! Supreme Commanders, especially ones as hot as the one that your eyes are feasting on, DO NOT wear dresses!"
"Chill, Leo. It's not the end of the world."
I pouted, and then left the room, and walked left. There was a long hallway with doors on either side.
Crap. I thought. Where do I go now?
"Leo!" Calypso shouted from inside my dorm. "You're going the wrong way!"
"Whoops."
I sighed, turned around, and followed Calypso out the door. Breakfast was pretty uneventful. I was introduced to Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Harry Potter, and Ginny Weasley. Hermione was very suspicious of me. Classes were boring, per usual, I mean, what can you expect?
I made Annabeth proud and managed NOT to get detention on the first day of classes! I was proud of myself for that too. We're going to talk to McGonagall after dinner tonight about staging a rescue mission.
I walked into the Great Hall, and everyone stopped and stared at me.
"Ummmm... Hi?" I said questioningly. Then everyone burst out laughing. My face burned red as I made my way over to the Gryffindor table.
"Why are they laughing?" I whispered to Calypso.
"Last night," she whispered back. I suddenly flashed back to memories that I didn't even know that I had.
The train ride to Hogwarts was miserable. 3 ADHD demigods stuck in a cramped train compartment for 8 hours is NOT fun. When we arrived at the point where I was taking the lights out of the ceiling and taking them apart, Jason got so fed up with me that he knocked me out.
Suddenly, someone was slowly pouring a liquid into my mouth and forcing me to swallow. Suddenly, I was soaking wet, but I fell back asleep.
A few hours later, Jason was shaking me awake.
"We're almost there." He said, "Get your robe on."
I just nodded in response, and pulled the dress on. He then shook Piper awake.
"Hey," he said. "We're almost here. You should probably get your robe on."
Piper took into account what Jason and I were wearing, and she burst out laughing.
"You-y-you guys are wearing dresses!" she choked out.
Jason glared at her. "Yes haha very funny." He said obviously annoyed.
"Aw come on, Sparky. I was just joking." she kissed him.
Piper took her robe from his hands, and went to one of the many other empty compartments to change.
When she was done, the train had pulled into the station and we were all piling out. A tall woman was there to greet us.
"Good evening, demigods." She said. "My name is Minerva McGonagall, but you will address me as Professor McGonagall, or Headmistress McGonagall.
We nodded in acknowledgement, except for Leo, who was looking around with a confused expression on his face.
"Um, whats with your friend?" McGonagall asked Piper.
"We, uh, we had to sedate him. If we didn't, he might accidentally burn down your school."
"Ah," McGonagall said. "I see."
I barely registered the words that were coming out of their mouths. Everything was in a daze.
"And, you might want to have water hoses ready, just in case he wakes up. And do you have a mass memory spell that would exclude the demigods?" Piper said.
"That could be arranged." McGonagall said with a nod. "Now, up to the castle!"
We walked for a few minutes before reaching carriages with strange horses pulling them.
"Um, what are those?" Piper asked McGonagall.
"Thestrals." She replied as if that would sum everything up.
Which it didn't.
"Ah," she nodded my head, pretending to know what that meant.
The ride to the castle was short, only about 10 minutes. We sat in silence, except for the occasional falling-out-of-my-seat by me.
When we arrived at the castle, McGonagall lead us to the doors that she claimed lead to the Great Hall, which is where the students eat their meals.
"Wait here," she said, and then entered the hall, leaving us behind the big oak doors.
All of a sudden, the entire hall immediately went quiet.
"Good evening, students of Hogwarts." We heard McGonagall's muffled voice. "We are pleased to welcome the final 3 exchange students to our school! Please welcome Jason Grace, Piper McLean, and Leo Valdez!"
The hall burst into a polite applause. The big doors opened, and Jason and I slowly half dragged half lead a very confused Leo into the hall.
All of the demigods who were already here immediately burst out laughing.
"What?" A girl with bushy hair whisper-yelled to them.
"T..t...they sedated him!" Reyna choked out.
"Why?" the girl asked.
"Because things would be exploding if they didn't." Annabeth said.
Piper gave them a sheepish grin, and then returned her attention to the staff table.
McGonagall silenced them with a pointed glare, and then ushered Jason, Leo and I forward to the old hat that was sitting on a stool. She pulled out a very short scroll of parchment.
"Grace, Jason!"
Jason let go of me, and I almost fell on top of Piper, and walked up to the hat. It was no more than 7 inches from his head when it shouted.
"ENOUGH! HAVEN'T I SAID GRYFFINDOR?!?! THEY'RE ALL IN GRYFFINDOR, NOW DON'T PUT ME NEAR THEM EVER AGAIN!" The hat shouted. Jason just shrugged, and then helped me lead Leo to our table. We were halfway there when a certain metal dragon crashed through the ceiling.
"Hey!" I shouted, finally remembering last night. "Not funny!"
Everyone just laughed even more. Oh well. Dinner was very good, but the tension between the demigods was running high, due to the inevitable conversation after dinner. McGonagall finally dismissed us, and we made our way up to her office.
Annabeth boldly told the giant eagle the password, which was still Dumbledore, and we all stepped inside the escalator like staircase. When we got to the top, Annabeth, once again being the only brave one, took a deep breath and knocked on the door.
"Come in," said a voice inside. Guess who, Annabeth, opened the door and stepped inside, the rest of us following her in.
"Professor," she began, and then explained our situation to her. McGonagall stared at us for a long, long time, and finally, she opened her mouth to respond.
Then the plumbing exploded.
