Mathews POV-
   Today is Veterans Day. We're going to be watching videos about veterans in history class today, which I am currently walking to with my best friend Annabeth Chase.

"Are you okay Annabeth? You seem down in the dumps." I asked, she has been sad lately.

"Ya, I'm fine. It's just...family issues." She said a little glumly.

"Well if you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here." I told her.

"Ya, okay. I just...I just want-never mind, I don't really want to talk about my problems"

"Okay" I said. We then entered the classroom and sat down next to each other.

"Today we will be watching videos about solders coming home" The teacher said. Annabeth let down a single tear when she said that. Did her parents serve?

   The teacher then turned on the projector and started to play videos of soldiers coming home to there families after a war, or on vacation.

   A couple videos through I saw something no one expected. It started normal, there was a guy, though he looked really young to be in the army, coming to someones door. He looked really excited. He then rang the bell and waited.

   When the wait was over and the door opened, it opened to a really sad looking Annabeth. We all gasped when we saw her and Annabeth got tears in her eyes. When the Annabeth in the video saw who it was, she was over joyed.

"Percy!" She yelled

"Annabeth!" They both had tears in there eyes, tears of joy.

"Oh my gods! I missed you so much! I hadn't heard from you and got worried! I love you so much Percy! Never leave me again! Please!" Annabeth-from-the-video yelled. She was freaking out she was so happy.

"Annabeth I left you to fight and I don't ever want to be without you again. I love you so much!" Percy said, before kissing her, full on the lips. When he did this everyone gasped, everyone thought that her boyfriend she used to say she had was fake, eventually whenever someone brought him up she got tears in her eyes.

   The video soon ended and Annabeth was crying. People were staring at her and all I wanted to do was get her to stop crying.

"Are you okay Annabeth?" I asked.

"No I'm not okay" she said through her tears.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"P-Percy go-got drafted a-again" she said sniffling the whole time.

"It's going to be okay" I told her.

"No it's not!" She said.

"I love him and I can't go home to him anymore! I don't even know if he's okay! There so far away I rarely ever get letters! I haven't heard from him in months! I isn't okay!" She yelled, braking down in tears.

   The rest of the class we tried to comfort her, but she just kept on crying.

    We managed to calm her down enough to get her to come to the auditorium, but she said she needed to go to the bathroom first and that she'd ketch up later, the principle was going to give a speech to honer the veterans. I

"Today, I was going to give a speech about the veterans, but what better way to celebrate them, then to have a veteran come in and tell you what real wars are like." The principle said.

    Just then a man about my age came in and introduced himself.

"I am Percy Jackson. I joined the military when I was a freshman, most people can't get in that young but I wanted to fight for my country and some people in the service new me and my background so they let me in, knowing that I would rather die then knowing that I could have saved people but didn't. I was in a war, then the war ended. I went home to my love hoping to start a future with her, but then plans changed. I got drafted. I was just let out a few days ago and I came here, your principal wanted me to give a speech, and sense the person I want to see is at school right now, I accepted.

   You see, wars aren't like what they are in video games, it's not what you think it is. War is pain, you go, meet the people you will spend the war with and become great friends with them. Then you watch them die, die for something they believe in. Or, they live, and you keep in touch and forever have those friends. Everyday, you hear of deaths. War is hard battles that you never want to be in. But, if you are brave, and you believe in something, then fight for it." Percy said.

   Just then The doors opened and in came Annabeth. When she saw Percy her look changed from sad, to happy. She ran as fast as she could to the stage. Percy was staring at her, also running to her. They met in the middle with a hug and then a kiss, then I realized something. This was the Percy from the video.

"I love you so much Annabeth! They said that I'd never have to come back! I'm going to stay, and this time I'll keep that promise." Percy said win tears of joy in his eyes.

"I love you to!" Annabeth said.

    The Percy did the unexpected, he got on his knee and brought out a small box.

"Annabeth, you know I'm not good at speeches, but I'll give it a shot.We have been through so much together, I would have died if it weren't for you. You put up with me disappearing, and then leaving for the army, not knowing were I was. I planed out are future and bought you a work place for your Architecture. I asked your mother and she approved. I guess what I'm trying to say is, will you marry me?" Percy asked. Annabeth stood, speechless.

Then she unfroze and said, "Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes!" Percy then slipped the ring on her finger and they kissed. The whole school sat, with tears in there eyes. I was so happy for Annabeth!
