-Logan Frances-
Logan POV-
I'm Logan Frances, and I'm a senior at California High.
But today, I was going to do a special one time only, Demigod-Shadowing program.
It was in New York, but I didn't care because I wanted to have the experience and find out what demigods were like.
The program took place at different mortal schools that had demigods, and you would be assigned to that demigod and follow them around school for two days to learn what there lives were like.
I was assigned to South High. All I knew about the demigod was this: She's a girl, no one knew she was a demigod, and she's going to meet me in the school office.
So here I was, at South High, waiting for her to show up.
The secretary had told me to sit down in the office, and wait for her here. She didn't know who the demigod was, so I couldn't ask her.
"Are you Logan?"
I looked up, hoping it would be the demigod. I'm going to guess it is.
She had blond curly hair with a grey streak in it, calculating grey eyes (They looked like they were following your every move), and was wearing a sea green top with an Owl on it, jean shorts, and running shoes.
She looked beautiful.
"Are you the demigod?" I asked.
"Unfortunately, yes." She said.
"Unfortunately?" I asked.
"Never mind." She said, obviously annoyed, "Follow me."
"What's you name?" I asked.
"Annabeth, daughter of Athena." She said.
"Do all demigods have grey streaks in there hair?" I asked.
"Only me and my boyfriend." She said.
Of course she has a boyfriend.
"So you both dyed it so you could match?" I asked.
"No. It's more complicated then that." She said.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"I don't really want to talk about my personal life." She said.
"But that's why I'm here." I said, "To find out what it's like to be a demigod."
She sighed, angry, "There was a war. I got captured. I had to hold up the sky, so did my boyfriend. That's how we got them. That enough for you?"
"Um...ya." I said, a little disappointed that she wouldn't tell me more.
"Come on." She said, "I'm not being late to class for one of Chirons stupid experiments."
"Chiron?" I asked.
"The centaur from the myths. The trainer of heroes." Annabeth sighed, "I'll tell you later."
We reached the door of her first class, and we both entered.
All the heads turned to us, because we were late.
"Why are you late Mrs. Chase?" The teacher asked.
"I had to get Logan from the office." She said, pointing to me, "He's shadowing me today. He might join in a couple months."
Why did she lie?
Oh ya, no one knows she's a demigod.
"Very well." The teacher said.
Annabeth led me to two empty seats. Next to the one Annabeth sat in, was a Red head with paint on her clothes, behind her was a bleach blond girl who looked like trouble.
I sat next to Annabeth, and just as I did, the blond started whispering.
"Hey Annie, who would want to follow a loser like you around all day?"
Annabeth rolled her eyes, and continued to listen to the teacher.
The rest of the class continued like this, the blond whispering, and Annabeth ignoring her.
Once the bell rang, Annabeth, the red head and I got up and left together.
"So, this is the one they assigned to you?" The red head asked Annabeth, as if I wasn't there.
"Unfortunately, yes. Why did Chiron have to do this? All I want is some peace and quiet. Not some one way ticket to being discovered." Annabeth said.
"Hey, remember what Chiron said, if you do this he may consider a trip to Camp Jupiter to visit the rest of the 7."
"Your lucky you don't have to do this to." Annabeth said.
"It's not me who wants to go to Camp Jupiter. I could do without that tip, especially after I got kicked out of my old school for beating up Octavian." The girl said.
"You should really refrain from hurting him Rachel." Annabeth said.
Rachel. So that's her name.
"I would if I could." Rachel said, "See you later, I've got science."
"See ya." Annabeth sighed.
Rachel walked off in the other direction, leaving us alone as we walked to the library.
"Is she another demigod?" I asked.
"No. She's the oracle."
"What's that?" I asked.
Annabeth groaned, "Don't you mortals know anything?"
With that said, she explained to me what a oracle is.
"Cool." I said, once she was done explaining.
By this time, we had made it to the library and sat down in the very back were no one could see us.
"Why didn't the gods tell us who the heroes were from the wars?" I asked.
The gods didn't tell us much about the wars, only that they happened, there were prophecies, and heroes.
"Because, we want to live a normal life." Annabeth said.
"So, your one of them?" I asked.
"I didn't say that." Annabeth said.
"So your not one of them." I said, a little disappointed.
"I didn't say that either." Annabeth said.
"Are you?" I asked.
"You'll probably find out soon enough." She said.
"What if I don't?" I asked.
"Then I won't tell you." She said.
Suddenly, mist appeared infront of us, and it had an image of a boy in it. Like face time.
"Annabeth!" The boy said.
"What is it? I'm in school." Annabeth said to the image.
The boy in it had black hair and sea green eyes.
"I got the test grade back!" He said.
Annabeth got really excited, and asked: "Did you do good? Please tell me you did good!"
"I passed! I'm finally caught up! I'll be able to go with you!" He said.
"That's amazing Percy! Can I come over later to celebrate?" She asked.
"Absolutely!" Percy said, "Who's that?"
"The mortal I was assigned. Where's yours?" She asked.
"Across from me." He said.
"I've got to go Perce. I love you!" Annabeth smiled.
"Love you to!" Percy smiled back, before swiping his arm in the mist, making it disappear.
That must be her boyfriend.
"We've got to go." Annabeth said.
"We're to?" I asked.
"Math."
Math passed by fast, and soon it was lunch time.
We got our lunch, and sat down at a table in the corner.
"What happened to Rachel?" I asked.
Just as I said that, Rachel showed up.
She sat down next to Annabeth, across from me.
"I feel like something extremely important is going to happen today." Rachel said, "I don't know if it's good or bad."
"Please tell me it isn't another prophecy!" Annabeth said, fear in her eyes.
I watched the scene in front of me with interest.
"I certainly hope not." Rachel said.
Annabeth was looking really freaked out.
"I can't do this again Rachel! I can't have more nightmares, I already have plenty!"
"I don't think this is a prophecy Annabeth, this feels different. Like somethings being filled."
"You don't think..." Annabeth said, her fear turning into joy.
"I don't know, but I certainly hope so." Rachel said.
I took this as my time to interrupt, "So you are one of the heroes!" I said.
Annabeth groaned, as if she just realized I was here.
"I would prefer it if you didn't mention it." She said.
Wonder swelled inside of me, I was siting in front of one of the world's greatest heroes.
But, before I could ask any questions someone came up behind Annabeth.
"What do you want?" Rachel said, both of them hearing the person come.
"I want to know what your problem is."
I recognized the person from the first class, it was the one with blond hair.
"Leave her alone Sarah." Rachel said.
"Stay out of this loser." Sarah said to Rachel.
"I do what I want." Rachel snapped.
"What do you want Sarah?" Annabeth said, annoyed at the other two.
"I want to know why you didn't do my homework."
"I'm not your servant. Do your own work." Annabeth said.
"I don't think so b*tch. I want that assignment done, and your going to do it."
Annabeth ignored her, and continued eating her sandwich.
"That's what I thought. I want it by the end of lunch."
Annabeth rolled her eyes, and ate her food.
Thats when I opened my big mouth.
"Why don't you stick up to her?! Your a demigod! You saved the world! Can't you at least put her in her place?!" I said, a little to loudly.
Every head turned to us.
Annabeth glared daggers at me, and I think I almost peed my pants.
"What have you done!?" Annabeth yelled. Rachel was glaring at me to now to.
Both of them glaring at me, was about enough to kill a person.
To make matters worse, everyone had heard what I said.
"How could she be a demigod?" Sarah asked.
"I'm n—" Annabeth started, but I just had to interrupt her (note the sarcasm). Curse my big mouth!
"Why do you think I'm here?"
"Of course." Sarah said, with venom in her voice, "The demigod shadowing program. I tried to apply, but they didn't except me."
"That's because I told them how terrible you are." Annabeth said, not holding back any more.
"Who would listen to you?" Sarah asked.
"Everyone." Rachel said, "Everyone listens to there savors."
This time, Annabeth glared at Rachel and then turned to me.
"Do you have any idea what you just did?!"
"Um..." I squeaked.
"You ruined my chance! I'll have to move schools again! This was the first school I was happy with, here, I had Rachel with me. And you ruined that." Annabeth said, her voice dripping with venom. "You have no idea what it's like."
"Look on the bright side Annabeth," Rachel said, "You might get to go to school with Percy."
"Chiron would never allow that. Percy's scent is already extremely strong, with any other demigods it would be a monster magnet."Annabeth said.
"Why can't you stay here?" I asked.
"They know who I am." Annabeth said.
"So...is Rachel a demigod to?" Someone asked.
"No, unfortunately I'm not." Rachel said.
"Don't say that Rachel, you know how terrible our lives are." Annabeth sighed.
Rachel rolled her eyes, "I already live with you guys."
"That's true, but you don't go through our training, monsters don't go after you every chance they get, you won't die at a young age, you didn't have to go there." Annabeth said.
"I'm sorry Annabeth. I didn't mean it like that. I know how tough your life has been." Rachel said, ashamed.
"It's okay Rachel. I just...that place..." Annabeth trailed of, a clouded look in her eyes.
"Annabeth! No!" Rachel rushed to Annabeths side, and slapped her in the face. Hard.
Annabeth seemed to come back to her senses, and sighed.
"Thanks Rachel."
"Your welcome." Rachel looked relived.
"What just happened?" Someone asked.
Annabeth turned to the students, as if just remembering they were there.
"Nothing." She said.
"I can't believe your a demigod!" Sarah said in disbelief.
Annabeth pulled something out from under her shirt, and I couldn't believe I didn't see it before.
A dagger.
"Believe me now?" She asked.
The students all looked incredibly shocked, and didn't seem to be able to make a sound.
"I don't care if you do or don't. Come on Logan. I may hate you, but I'm still getting something out of this, and right now, we have gym class."
Turning to Rachel she said, "See you later, and find me if you have any knows on...that."
Then, she walked straight through the parting student body, with me following close behind.
Once we reached the gym, some people were already there. Including the coach.
"So your a demigod." The coach said in wonder.
"Ya, I am, can we please not talk about it? I don't want to have a flash back."
Flash back?
"...sure." The coach sounded disappointed, like talking about it was all he wanted to do.
"Today, we're, er, having a defense class." He said nervously. "So first—"
That was the start of our lesson, but almost every time the coach said something, Annabeth would correct him.
"Well if you know so much, then you teach!" The coach yelled, after being corrected about the 200th time.
"Fine. I will." Annabeth said.
"What the coach is trying to teach you, will get you no where." Annabeth said, "This is how the real world works."
Annabeths lesson was long and painful, she had us doing so many drills, I thought I was going to die.
"Your all out of shape." Annabeth said.
"How do you stay in shape?" Someone asked.
"How do I stay in shape? Lava walls. Camp Activities. Chariot races. Practice. Wars. Hell." Annabeth said.
"And you expect us to do that?" Someone asked.
"No. But I do expect you to care about your body's. Think of all the terrible things you do to it, and then think about how your life could be like." Annabeth said.
"That's enough Annabeth. Class is over." The coach said.
The class sighed with relief, and Annabeth told me we had to go to our next class.
That was the last class of the day, and it went by pretty fast.
Soon, it was time to leave until tomorrow. I would be staying in a hotel.
But, when class was over, and we went to Annabeths lockers something happened.
A scroll had formed out of the air, and landed on top of the books in Annabeths hands.
She dropped them in shock, and everyone stared at her.
She slowly leaned back down, and picked the scroll back up, muttering things like: "Please don't be what I think you are." And "Why do you hate me fates."
Once she was standing up again, she slowly but surely unrolled the scroll.
I couldn't see what was on it, because she was across from me, but as she read it a look of pure joy crossed her face.
She reread it over, and over, and over. Until finally she did something.
She yelled Rachel's name.
Rachel came running towards us, "What is it?!" She asked, fear in her voice.
"It's happened!" She yelled with joy.
Rachel and Annabeth shared a look, then bolted down the hall. The scroll had fallen from her hands when she yelled for Rachel, and it was forgotten on the floor.
I picked it up, wanting to know what happened, but there was only two words on it.
He's here.
