Glitching
It was a Thursday.
Just an ordinary, boring Thursday. I was contemplating gouging my own ears out during my english class just so I wouldn't have to listen to the teacher drone on.
Will was sat beside me, an arm around my waist.
He refused to talk though; he said something about education being important.
Eventually, the bell cut through whatever the teacher was saying, and I got ready to leave.
As I walked through the classroom door, Will suddenly disappeared.
I panicked, but he reappeared a moment later, smiling, and I assumed I'd imagined it.
On the way home he made little shapes in the sunlight for me, inserting them in random places for me to find.
I was aware of him thinning slightly, almost translucent, as if he were a sheet of paper.
I tried to push my worry aside, but it nagged persistently at my brain.
"Will, is something wrong?" I asked him, the words slipping out of my mouth before I could drag them back in.
He didn't say anything, just kept his eyes cast on the ground and entwining his fingers with mine.
"Will?" I pushed, attemtping to get a reaction.
He sighed.
"I don't know, Nico.
I really don't know."
We spent the rest of the way in silence.
I just wanted to help him; he was always here for me, and for once I could return the favour.
But he was pushing me away.
I wasn't sure what to make of that.
