Serve Twenty

"Take a five minute break!" Daichi shouts to the team. Satoru comes stomping over, panting as he reaches out for his water bottle. You giggle as you hand it to him, and he plops himself beside you.

"I'm so exhausted." He groans before tilting his head back and downing his drink.

"I bet you are. All that running around made me tired, and I was only watching." You smile. He hums, refusing his lips to leave his bottle. After the incident with Kageyama, Satoru had become more aware of you than normal. You couldn't get one word with any of the team members without feeling Satoru looking over, watching, listening. Nothing was private now. You'd explained that you had allowed Kageyama to drop the 'San' from your name, but hadn't realized he'd do it with your first name. It was too embarrassing to put into words, but you got used to it. Hinata also then decided to use it and Yamaguchi offers for you to call him Tadashi. May was getting more and more draining. And to think the matches were on the 2nd of June, and the team was sweating so much with two weeks and a half to go.

"Are you making Hajime Tofu again, then?"

"What?"

"For the 10th..?" Satoru raises a brow. He then grins at you, chuckling. "You forgot." Then it dawned on you.

"I have lots of time." You brush him off. "Just need to think about it and then I'll figure it out."

"As long as you add my name on the card, I don't really care what you get him."

"Is that really how you treat a friend?"

"It's what boys are like." He shrugs and gets up, holding his bottle loosely. You watch Satoru, his (h/c) hair matted together with sweat, his (e/c) eyes watching everything perceptively. He was becoming more mature by the week, and there you were still looking like you belong in middle school. That's when you spot it.

"Wait, Satoru." You grab his arm. "Your shirt."

"Huh?" He grabs the hem. "It's threading..."

"I'll get my pouch." You search through your bag for a moment. Moments later you pull out a small bag, the size of a wallet, and remove black thread, a needle and a pair of tiny scissors. "Stay still."

"Why don't I just take it off?" He questions, but stands still. You furrow your brow as you put the thread through the hoop and begin sewing up the small hole.

"You're not standing in the gym with just shorts on." You reply. You flip up the bottom of the shirt and sew it up from the inside, pinching the fabric together. It was a minute before you finished and flattened it out and looked at your handy work. Taking the small scissors, only one finger fitting in each hole, you cut off the extra string. "Done." You say firmly as you stuff the small cutting in the pouch and put it back in your bag.

"Thanks." He nods and runs back to Noya. You sigh and turn back to your phone.  All this extra time here was boring,  you'd even completed all your homework too. You wanted to be useful. You'd do anything at this point to keep yourself occupied. The only highlight at the moment was playing online with Kenma and texting Hajime and Tooru. You sigh, looking down to your shoes.

"(F/n)-chan." A soft voice spoke. You look up to see Kiyoko.

"Yes?" You get up, sensing she wanted something.

"Can you come with me?" She asks. You nod, watching her curiously. She leads you to the sports closet and from the back she tries pulling out something. You watch her, the item covered in dust. Without a word, you join her in removing the larger black fabric from behind the poles. With a yank, dust flies up into the air. Using one hand to cover your mouth and the other to hold the sheet, you raise a brow to Kiyoko.

"Kiyoko-chan, what is this?" You ask.

"It's our old banner." You perk up at this. "It's old and dirty, but I thought we could have a project to do whilst the boys practice." You smile brightly.

"That's amazing!" You grin, nodding. You open it out, trying to look at it. It was covered in dust and little bits of dirt were on it. "Seems like we should wash it first, then see what else to do." You nod, thinking.

"And since you seem good at sewing, I thought you could help make it look better."

"Yes! That'd be awesome!" You practically shout. "I will make it look better than everyone else's! That's a promise!" Kiyoko laughs at your excitement, smiling.

"I'm going to take it home to wash. You can come up with ideas to put on it, and then we can sew together." She plans.

"Sure, just tell me when you've washed it. Wait, are you washing it at home or getting it done at a dry cleaners. I'll help you carry it either way. It's very heavy looking." You rant.

"Of course, Coach." You stop at that, eyes bugging out. You then grin stupidly, chuckling.

"Right-o, Manager." You salute with one hand before almost dropping the banner. "I'll look up things during the weekend, but I'm pretty sure I've got a basic idea of what I want to add." You then face Kiyoko properly and bow. "Thank you for involving me in this, Kiyoko-chan."

"No need, I'm glad we get to spend more time together." With a smile, you both fold it up and place it on top of one of the horses.

"How come you've only mentioned this now?" You ask her, walking towards Ukai.

"I was thinking of how us third years will be leaving soon." She said, looking down sadly. You frown, eyebrows furrowed in thought. You then smile warmly, giving her a thumbs up.

"Don't worry, this year will be unforgettable, I bet my wages on it."

"I'm a genius!" You coo, walking next to Yuri.

"You sure about that?" She grins as she walks beside you.

"Positive! I've got a great surprise worked out, and today's Friday which means Kiyoko-chan is going to wash our banner this weekend." You grin excitedly. "I don't know how we'll present it, but it's gonna be awe-some." You sing.

"Everything is going great recently." Yuri folds her arm behind her head, looking up. "My Photography Senpai asked to hang out with me this weekend and the club is going great!" You hum happily in reply, then smirk evilly.

"Be careful. He might take you to an abandoned construction site and eat you." You wiggle your fingers spookily.

"And one of your Senpai's might die a tragic death because they messed with black magic." She copies you. You both break out into laughter, grinning broadly.

"I never knew our first year would work out so well." You smile, looking forwards. "And our reputations have changed. No one remembers the mean things I did and the people you beat up. Our lives are on a real turning point." Your smile turns more sad, then as you pace slows. "I hope... nothing happens."

"Don't jinx us! I don't want my date going to ruins because you messed with the anime gods!" Yuri panics, grabbing her hair. Then her eyes bug out as a creepy grin appears on her face. "What about your man?"

"Huh? What man?" You furrow your brow.

"That third year you gave a love note to." You blank for a moment, wondering what she was on about.

"I have no idea what you're on about." You tell her plainly.

"Don't be coy with me. I bet he's a real hunk!" She hugs herself, shivering. "We both can go on double dates and then they can bring us back to a hotel and-"

"That's enough sugar for you!" You slam a hand over her mouth, straining your lips. Then you feel a wet muscle on your palm and flinch back. "You're vile, disgusting!"

"And so cute and fluffy!" She yells, swinging her arms up.

"Why am I friends with you?" You shake your head in dismay. She cackles weirdly, grinning.

"(S/n)-san!" A voice calls. You stop in that hall and look over your shoulder to spot an angel running towards you. Your eyes widen in surprise at Suga. He slows down once he got closer and stops in front of you as Yuri stood behind you, peeking out to give Suga looks.

"Oh, Suga-Senpai." You say in surprise. "What are you doing doing down here?"

"I wanted to give you this." At first glance upon seeing the paper thrust out to you, your heartbeat quickens and face reddens.

"Th-thank you, Senpai." You stutter, feeling your chest swell. You open it and read it over.

"It's the signals for my serves." He explains. You look at them, eyes wider than before, but you cover it by bringing the sheet up.

"Ah, yes, because I'm the Assistant Coach." You murmur, reading it over. "Has, erm, anyone else got these?" You point at the paper.

"No, I wanted to give it to you first." He rubs his neck, laughing. You were too focused on trying to remember them at that moment and reading them to really absorb what he said.
Sugawara watched as you look at the sheet, your eyebrows furrowed, leaving a mark between them, the way your stuck out your lips slightly, and the calm breaths you took. He smiles, knowing you hadn't realized his meaning. But that was the least of his problems when he noticed the brown haired girl behind you. She peeks out from your neck, glaring at him. He laughs nervously, unsure of how to react. That's when the girl smirks.

"Yuri, stop." You said boredly, not even having to look to know she was giving Sugawara evil stares. "Thank you again, Suga-Senpai. I'll shoot these to Ukai and help Hinata once he gets his sheet. You know what he's like with remembering things." You chuckle, looking up at him now.

"Suga-Senpai..." Yuri whispers before she stood up straight and rudely points at Sugawara. "DaiSuga!" She yells. You freeze, your heart stopping and grip tightening on the sheet as you stare at Suga like a deer in head lights.

"Oh gosh, I'm so sorry about her." You turn to Yuri and give her an evil glare before turning to Suga with an innocent smile. "She's just so rude sometimes. It was nice seeing you Suga, but I have class soon so, y'know, gotta get to it!" You said all this quickly as you spun on your heel and talked to him over your shoulder, pushing Yuri towards the class. "Nice seeing you!" You push her through the door. You then turn to Sugawara and bow.

"Bye (S/n)..." he waves slightly, shocked by your sudden outburst. Once you disappeared, closing the door behind yourself, Suga thought over that little incident and mumbles to himself. "DaiSuga?"
