Serve Four
"We're so late!" Satoru shouts as he runs towards the gym.
"I'm not late. School doesn't start for another forty minutes." You reply calmly as you jog next to your brother.
"But Super Secret Practice started twenty minutes ago!" Satoru retorts.
"You do realize that the practice is for Hinata and Kageyama-san?" You squint at him.
"Don't care! Don't care! Don't care!" Satoru chants as he turns the corner and runs to the gym. You let out a bitter sigh before walking into the gym just in time to see Hinata emptying his stomach.
"Hinata!" You panic, running over to him as your Senpai's start shouting. You fall to your knees beside him and rub his back. "Are you alright?" You drop your bag, looking for a packet of tissues. You holding it out, before cringing at the muck dripping off his chin. You fold the tissue in half and swipe upwards for him. "You should wash out your mouth and I'll give you some gum." You help him up as his legs shake. "Tanaka-kun, hurry up with that mop! Satoru, get me a water bottle!" You order them as you bring Hinata over to the side bench. Tanaka and Satoru run around in a panic as Kageyama and Sugawara watch them. Satoru hands you a water bottle to which you give to Hinata. He chugs down the bottle. Once he's finished, you hand him some gum. Hinata takes it groggily and chews it. You watch everyone; Tanaka was grumbling as he wipes the floor, Sugawara was speaking to Kageyama and Satoru was fussing over Hinata beside you.
"'Hank oo (S/n)-'han." Hinata slurs as he chews the gum loudly. You cringe at him slightly.
"No problem. I'm not really bothered by sick." You admit sheepishly, placing your hand on the middle of his back. "Do you feel any better now?"
"Ham 'ine." He replies. You rub his back soothingly and give him a small smile. He looks really sluggish. Satoru panics over him. You shake your head. Satoru is never able to keep a level head, ever.
"if you didn't feel well, you shouldn't have pushed yourself and come into school." You scold softly, rubbing circles into his back.
"I'm not ill!" He pipes up.
"The vomit on the floor begs to differ." You give him a leveled look.
"No, no! I've just been playing nonstop for a while." You suck in your lips.
"It's true." Kageyama says softly. you look up at him from your spot beside Hinata. You hadn't even looked at Kageyama when you yelled at him. He seems withdrawn now, not entirely facing you and rubbing his neck. he's frowning too. You sigh and get up, Satoru immediately nicking your spot and yammer away to Hinata. You approach Kageyama, and he turns to face you properly. He looks kinda worried, but that may just be you projecting.
"I..." you open your mouth, then snap it shut again. You fronw, looking down. "Sorry for yelling at you. I feel bad, but I-um-I don't regret what I said." You purse your lips, looking at him with wide eyes, determined. He raises his eyebrows, looking startled.
"Right." He nods, unsure. You nod firmly, staring straight at him. You begin to turn away, not knowing what else to say. You just put yourself into a weird situation. "... you weren't wrong."

You watched as the freckled boy, Yamaguchi, gets called out of class. The teacher started talking about maths but you couldn't help your gaze falling back on the door.
I wonder what he did? Or perhaps it's about classwork?
"So I'll put you in pairs to finish the worksheet." The teacher explains. Your head snaps forward and your eyes read over the board. Then the teacher calls out names and you turn to look at Yuri, who returns your hopeful smile.
If I get paired with Yuri we can do the work then chat! Or gossip!... Maybe see which classmate looks like which anime character, or the pairs game!
Your eyes sparkle as you grin stupidly. But your stomach drops when Yuri gets paired with a boy and you glance around the room.
Oh god, the teachers pairing it boy-girl. I'm gonna be stuck with a stranger!'
You look at the remaining boys as everyone slowly gets picked off one by one, and it was left with boys who didn't go to your middle school. You start fiddling with your hands nervously.
"(S/n) (F/n)-" your head snaps up as you watch the teacher closely as she scans over the class. You watch your Sensei's gaze as her eyes look behind you and she clasps her hands with a smile "-and Tsukishima Kei." You turn around to see the blond looking at you expectantly. You turn your chair slowly, placing your pencil on his table as you look him over. This is the same boy that uses your chair as a leg prop. It didn't bother you that much, but he seems quite entitled. The teacher places two worksheets on his table and you take one, looking it over. You can hear the class chatting away, some even laughing, so you take a peak at Tsukishima. He's quietly doing the sheet. You let out a breath and look to Yuri, who smirks at you. You tilt your head in confusion.
What's with that look?'
Yuri laughs, sends you a quick thumbs-up, and turns back to her partner. You look awkwardly at Tsukishima to see him sending you an indifferent look before going back to the sheet.
Aren't you the talkative type Tsukishima.
You roll your eyes and start from the bottom and work upwards. Ten minutes later and you'd answered 12 questions and you look up to Tsukishima to see he was on 12 out of 24. You panic slightly and start to speak.
"Tsukishima, I've done the bottom half." You tell him and he looks up at you blankly. He looks at your sheet and furrows his brows to see you'd done all the bottom half. You expected you both to share answers. Did you think he needed to cheat to finish the work?
"Are they right?" He asks, quirking a brow at you. You stare at him for a moment.
"Yes, they are." You state as you push your sheet towards him. "Just copy my half and I'll copy your half once you're done." You tell him. He clicks his tongue and reads over the sheet.
"I can't read your writing." He stares at you. "Try not writing like a five-year-old." Your brow twitches as you read it over. Your writing was (scruffy/fancy) but it was legible to you, and to everyone else for that matter when you handed out notes to various classmates. You look over to his sheet and go back to yours.
"Which ones can't you read?" You ask calmly, turning it so he could read it once again. He scowls at you and points at numerous numbers. You nod and start changing them.
"What are you doing?" He asks as he twirls his pencil around in his hand.
"Changing them." You inform as you brush away pieces of used rubber and rewrite it. Tsukishima clicks his tongue.
"You really are an idiot." He smirks.
"Yeah, yeah. Idiot central." You mutter to yourself and nod, proceeding to change them. Once you finished changing, you hand it back to him.
He really thinks I'll be affected by his insults? I live with a five-year-old and Satoru. If I can deal with them, then I can deal with this blond.
You stare out the window that showed the landscape of the school's football field. You hear the door open so you peer through the corner of your eye to see Yamaguchi had entered the class, approaching the teacher.
"We have an odd amount of students today so you can join any pair." The teacher tells him and Yamaguchi instantly brightens up and walks over to Tsukishima. He notices you sitting opposite his best friend. You were in the volleyball club yesterday, talking to another first-year. Yamaguchi pulls his chair over and places down his own blank sheet. He can't help but blush slightly when remembering his friends remarks about the both of you on the very first day of school.
"I-I'm Yamaguchi Tadashi, it's nice to meet you." He smiles awkwardly. You give him a small smile and nod.
"I'm (S/n) (F/n), nice to meet you too." And you went straight back to looking around the class. Yamaguchi looks at you for a moment and looks to see Tsukishima filling in the answers.
"You're done already Tsukki! You're so clever." Yamaguchi praises. You watch the two in curiosity.
"Shut up, Tadashi." Tsukishima grumbles as he hands you back your sheet. "I know your handwriting is terrible, but you don't have to copy mine." He remarks, a cocky grin on his face.
"Okay." You nod boredly and take back your sheet. Tsukishima feels his eye twitch at your nonchalant attitude. You look at Yamaguchi who was having trouble. "Do you need help Yamaguchi-san?" You ask.
"I-I'm fine, and you call me Yamaguchi." He smiles shyly.
"Okay. If you need help, just ask." You give him a closed eye smile as Yamaguchi bursts into flames.
"Your flirting is making me feel sick." Tsukishima complains.
"T-Tsukki!" Yamaguchi panics.
"Don't be mean to your friend, Tsukishima-San." You reply boredly.
"What are you? A stalker? How do you know my name?" He asks, scrunching up his nose in disgust.
"You do realize that half the girls in our year have a crush on you? Your name is basically mentioned in every group. So it's hard not to come across the name 'Tsukishima Kei'." You explain frankly, placing your hand on your cheek as you doodle on your worksheet.
And quite frankly it's annoying. Why can't girls ship him with boys? Not another girl.
Your eyes fall upon Yamaguchi who was working through the sheet.
He's the only person I've actually seen talk to Tsukishima. Could it be that Tsukishima is so sour because the other boys don't like him? But that doesn't seem to be it, he doesn't seem to be the type bothered by what others say about him. He seems to like teasing people a lot. Why? There's got to be a reason for it? Or I could just be overthinking everything... He seems like a selfish cocky only child.
You tune back into reality to see Yamaguchi looking at you expectantly and Tsukishima looking amused. You tilt your head and blink owlishly at Yamaguchi.
"Pardon?"
"I asked if you could help me." Yamaguchi repeats himself shyly. You blink owlishly in surprise, but smile and start explaining the question to him. Tsukishima watches you converse with Yamaguchi. For some reason you didn't seem bothered by his teasing and didn't care what he had to say, plus Yamaguchi got along with you. But then again Yamaguchi got along with everyone. He sighs and looks around the class. You were just an annoying girl and nothing else. A weird stalker-ish girl.
"-anything else?" You ask as you finish explaining.
"N-no! That was very helpful! Th-thank you, (S/n)." Yamaguchi picks up his pen and gets to work.
"No need to thank me, I'll help you anytime you want." You smile, squinting your eyes. If you loved to do anything, it was helping others. Though you'd prefer it if they didn't know. It was just embarrassing when everyone sees them thanking you. The bell soon rings and Yuri runs over to you, an innocent smile on her face.
"Oh! (F/n)-chan, I see you've made friends." She sings. You lift a brow at her, humming. "Introduce me." She whispers. You nod slowly, looking back at the boys.
"This is Yamaguchi Tadashi and Tsukishima Kei. Yamaguchi, Tsukishima-San, this is Sakira Yuri." You introduce them.
"Nice to meet you." Yamaguchi waves slightly.
"Pleasure to meet you too." Yuri giggles. Tsukishima clicks his tongue at her, and Yuri responds with a twitching brow.
"Seems like you're a serious stalker." Tsukishima remarks. "And your friend is just creepy."
"Oi! What's your problem, Clicker?!" Yuri shouts, pointing her finger at him. You notice people's stares so you grab her hand, moving it down.
"People are looking!" You say in a hushed tone.
"He insulted you! You can't stand for that!" Yuri announces, now pointing a finger at you. You flinch back at her wild movements as her eyes turn into flames. "(F/n)-chan is an innocent soul who is kind to all she meets! She doesn't judge others by what people say and likes to get to know them before making her own judgement, which is more for you to ever say!" Yuri shouts at Tsukishima as your classmates watch in interest.
"Huh?" Tsukishima quirks his brow, turning his nose up at her. "You're as dumb as you look."
"Huh?!"
"Calm down Yuri, he's just joking around." You put your hand on her shoulder. She looks at you with teary eyes and you start to panic.
"You're such a kind soul!" She engulfs you in a hug as people watch her and laugh. Your face turns red at her affection.
"Yuri! Stop it!" You shout/whisper. Then Yuri faces Tsukishima with a grin, pointing her finger at him.
"And (F/n)-chan is far cooler than you! She has a secret power!" Yuri shouts. Your eye twitches.
"Alright! You can stop it now." You cover her mouth with your palm, having enough of her outburst. "And it's not a power, it's totally normal. Don't make me out to be some sort of super hero." You scold.
"B-but you are..." She pouts dejectedly.
"Let's just get some food." You squint at her, watching her with judging eyes as you walk out the room, her mopping behind. Yuri suddenly drags you down the hall, shouting about food.
She's so embarrassing! I've made a fool of myself twice in one day, but this time it's in front of my whole class and everyone's going to think I'm some sort of weirdo! I'm never going to live this down!' I'm going to be called freak!
○ Time Skip ○
"-and then she dragged me down the hallway." You poke your food as you tell Satoru about what happened at break. His laughs boisterously.
"Yuri has always been a laugh!"
"She embarrassed me, the class thinks I'm some sort of weirdo." You huff.
"No one could ever think that (S/n)-san." Sugawara sends you a smile. Your face lights up in embarrassment.
He was listening?!
"I can seem pretty weird to some people, Suga-Senpai. I mean, have you seen my brother." You distract him to your brother who is currently shovelling food into his mouth. Sugawara sweat drops at him, only to notice Hinata doing the same next to him. "You two are going to choke."
"S'fine." Satoru gobbles down his food. You roll your eyes and look back to Sugawara who is eating like a civilized person.
"Who do you normally hang out with at lunch?" You ask, popping in a piece of chicken.
"I spend lunch with Daichi and Asahi, but I thought I could help Hinata with his receives." Sugawara explains, but you perk up at something else.
"Where is Asahi-Senpai anyway?" You ask. Sugawara widens his eyes slightly, looking panicked. You wave your hands around quickly at his shocked expression. "You don't have to tell me!" Sugawara laughs sheepishly.
"It's not really my place to tell..."
"It's alright. The time will come when I need to know, but that just not now." You smile it off. "And I think you should go back to helping Hinata, he looks like he's gonna burst." You laugh, looking over to the ginger who is standing impatiently, looking as if he was going to pop in front of both of you. Sugawara jumps slightly in surprise and dusts off his trousers before helping Hinata with a smile.
"You like him, I'll leave the club. Then you've got no reason to be near him." Satoru mutters. You scowl at him, stuffing your mouth with rice.
"There's a big flaw in that. I can hang out with any of the boys in the club because they all like me, and also-" you swipe a prawn from his lunch box, stuffing it in your mouth. "-I. Don't. Like. Him." Satoru grumbles to himself.
"How about Hinata? He's my friend and I don't want him leaving me for you." Satoru pouts. You scoff.
"I don't like Hinata like that. I don't understand you sometimes. Why would any boy pick me over you, let alone date me?" You roll your eyes, watching the boys practice bitterly. "You're my brother so it's your job to say I'm pretty, but there's no point in using it every time a boy's involved."
"So... Saying Noya would cross the line?" Satoru shrugs. You swat his arm playfully.
"Not even if he grew." You deadpan.
"He's not that short." Satoru retorts. There's a long silence as he contemplates what he just said.
"Okay, maybe a little." Satoru smirks. You snort.
"Yeah, just like his height."
