Chapter 5
******Kiyamura Household******
The entire dining room was deafeningly silent. Nothing could be heard but the occasional clanking of cutlery as it meets the porcelain plate. The people seated at the dining table vaguely assessed one another hoping to grasp the mood of the one who was emitting the coldest aura.
Tanaka being the oldest, finally made a move and eyed his unfortunate little brother who was seated across from him, giving him a meaningful look. Gino understanding what his older brother meant, can't help but curse his bad luck. Why does it always have to be him cotdammit!?
Gino cleared his throat with an awkward laugh, "So uh imouto, how's school?" he started casually.
The subject of everyone's watchful gaze visibly tensed.
Akane eyed his older brother, chanting a silent prayer for him in his head. What an unlucky b*stard this one. Glad I'm not you he thought with a smile.
"Igai." (Unexpected) the young woman muttered through gritted teeth. The brothers waited with bated breaths but it didn't look like she was willing to say more than that. That is however, until a certain four eyes felt the need to dig his older brother's grave deeper.
"Oho Hana-chan, how so~" Akane grinned." "Do tell us, your dear brothers are just dying to know!"
Tanaka forcefully slammed his hand on the table, a bit of food flying up with the motion. "Akane." he said. Akane smiled teasingly at Gino before resuming eating.
"Dono gurai no ma...." (How long) a chilling voice said, breaking the silence. Hana struggled to keep her gaze steady, her hands paling as it gripped the cutlery tight. Choose your words carefully Hana, she chanted repeatedly in her head. Scratch that, with the way things are, any words she say will just end in blood. The brothers evidently watched as their little sister's grip almost caused the cutlery she was holding to bend.
With a tch sound the young woman stood up and excused herself, leaving the dining room without another word. No knives were thrown. No plates were broken. No faces were bruised.
She must be really angry Akane thought.
While Gino visibly sighed with relief, Tanaka couldn't help but display a frown on his face. He couldn't help but wonder if what they did was the right thing to do or not. Regardless though, that was how they were brought up and he doubted they were going to change anytime soon. They pride themselves with the Yakuza name, and it's going to take more than a delinquent to change that.
Giving another one of his signals to his brothers, Hanoi stood up and nodded before excusing himself and following after his twin.
"Sakihodo mo iimashita. (I told you)" Akane's teasing smile finally dropped as he addressed the remaining people at the table. Tanaka remained quiet, while Gino glared at him venomously. Where's a Takoyaki stick when you need one?!
******Meanwhile******
On the way home, a certain violet-head was carrying a bag of groceries on his hands. He opted to take the longer route to not only breath some much needed fresh air but also somehow give himself ample time to think about certain matters.
Regarding his friend's condition, he really didn't know where to start. Firstly, the ape had enemies everywhere. If anyone questioned who wanted him dead, the list would surely be endless. He also couldn't help but be bitter about how their so-called leader addressed the incident. He could still remember the feel of his cold fingers as his eyes stared straight to his soul. Yuri touched his neck subconsciously with a shudder. He also couldn't help but think that somewhere along the line, they were missing something.
Perhaps he was too preoccupied with his own thoughts that he didn't notice his surroundings had suddenly turned somewhat unfamiliar. Yuri only seemed to noticed when he turned towards the only alleyway leading to his supposed street.
This wasn't right. After this turn should be his neighborhood already wasn't it? Why the hell is this alleyway here?
"Hey what do we have here?" a grimy looking man said with a drunken drawl, emerging from the dark.
"Pretty little thing, aren't you?" it sneered maliciously while he licked his lips. Yuri caught a whiff of alcohol on the man's breath and he scrunched his face in disgust. Upon closer look, the man was evidently huge, rising to about at least six feet, and coupled with its round body, it was more or less intimidating compared to Yuri's small stature.
Yuri gripped the bag in his hands tighter. It was best to just avoid the drunk he thought, as he continued to walk the darkened alley, intending to bypass the stranger on his way. What he didn't expect was for the man to suddenly grip his forearm when he was inches away from it.
"Hey b*tch, I was talking to you!" the man bellowed angrily.
Yuri visibly tensed and gritted his teeth glaring at the man who towered over him.
"F*ck off I'm a guy assh*le!!!" Yuri screamed as he struggled to free himself from the steel grip around his arm. He would've opted to just knock the man out cold with a quick hit in an acupuncture point but the man was obviously too fat for it to work.
He could always just kick the man in the groin and run, but in order to do that he must first get out of its iron grip. Running out of options, Yuri cursed his lack of strength to even fight off such a measly looking guy.
"What the-" the drunk man said as if finally seeing that Yuri was indeed a guy. Before the man could continue however, Yuri saw a glint from the corner of his eye as the man before him suddenly dropped onto the pavement, a resounding clank sounding somewhere in the process.
Yuri "...."
Feeling a strange chill from somewhere, Yuri looked up to see two dark figures eyeing him from above. He squinted but didn't manage to see their features at all. It was as if those two figures blended perfectly with the darkness of the night. Maybe it was from fatigue or adrenaline, but Yuri felt as if those watchful eyes were glowing as it observed him from the darkness.
Yuri couldn't help but shiver when a similar memory surfaced in his mind.
******Meanwhile******
Hanoi observed his twin in silence. Ever since they were young, he felt a connection to his sister that the other siblings just don't seem to have. He knew instantly when she was angry, happy, or sad with a simple look in her eye.
This was one of those rare moments when he looked at her and felt lost at what his twin was feeling. At first glance, one could see the coldness surrounding the youngest Kiyamura, but upon looking closer, Hanoi could see another emotion looming deep within his twin's eyes. Indignance? Blood-lust? Doubt? He wasn't sure what.
Looking down at the scene below her, Hana's face remained impassive as an emotion flickered pass her before disappearing the next second. She observed the violet-head from below whom appears to be challenging her with its gaze. Hana tsked as she turned from the scene and left without another word.
"Anata wa gara o tsukaubekide wa nakatta" (You shouldn't have used the hilt). Hanoi trailed behind his twin muttering a faint "yasashi sugiru."(Too soft-hearted.) before resuming his usual silence.
Hana glanced at her twin impassively before gazing straight once again, heading home.
