THIRTY-FOUR. you and i

THE PARTY that Miyagi-Fang (named subject to change... possibly) had been held at the apartment complex that Miguel, Robby, and Johnny had all lived.

There was drinking, dumb party games, and lot of drunk teens making out in every possible corner of each apartment.

Including Robby and Rory.

Everything was going according to plan and nothing, absolutely nothing could ruin the moment.

"Rory," Belle called. "Tory's here."

Well, other than that.

Rory quickly pulled away from Robby and turned to face Belle. She held knit brows as she looked at her sister and down at her red solo cup.

Maybe she was too drunk to process what Belle had said. Maybe Belle was too drunk.

"Huh?" Rory exclaimed.

"She's outside talking to Sam." Belle further explained. "I wanted to let you know in case she got in somehow."

Rory seemed to stiffen.

She hadn't seen been face to face with Tory in a while... not alone at least. And the fight wasn't something that she could easily forget.

Tory attacked her at her weakest and she never stood a chance and now she had a scar on her face to prove (in her mind) that she was weak and that she let her guard down when she thought someone she could trust was confronting her about an issue that could easily be resolved.

But that was never the case. It would never be the case.

Tory could see that Rory had grown weak just by speaking to her, but she let her action speak louder and she attacked.

"Rory?" Belle called.

All Rory did was nodded and Robby began to press his hand against her shoulder, but she quickly jumped at his touch, almost forgetting that he'd been there.

Jack wasn't here and neither were Johnny and Mr. LaRusso. There was no "adult" to stop whatever Tory wanted to do and that's what scared Rory the most.

"Can you get her some water?" Robby asked.

Belle nodded, hesitant to leave Rory's side, but some left to get the girl a bottle of water.

Robby swiveled around to stand in front of Rory who looked up at him.

Her eyes filled with fear. She tried her best to seem calm, but her body language was an easy giveaway.

Robby slowly took her hands and gave them a small squeeze. "I'm right here, okay?" He said, taking a hand and brushing her hair from her face. "She can't hurt you."

"Says who?"

"Says me... and Hawk, Miguel, and everyone else here." Robby said, speaking softly. "We're not going to let her get to you, okay?"

Rory only nodded, but that wasn't enough. She still wasn't positive about anything. If Tory really wanted to, she would, and that's what scared Rory.

Yes, she could hold her own. That's what Jack and Layla taught her, but that didn't mean that fear was out of the equation. She had every right to feel scared and afraid of what could happen to her. And Robby could see it.

"Hey, look at me." Robby said, cupping her cheeks. "Breath."

Rory took a shuddering breath, letting Robby's touch ground her. She hated feeling this way, so unsure and vulnerable. It was a sharp contrast to the fierce independence she had always prided herself on.

But as she looked into Robby's eyes, she felt her fear start to ebb away. There was something about his steady presence that calmed her in a way no one else could.

"You're safe with me," he whispered. "I won't let anything happen to you."

Rory wanted to believe him, but a part of her still clung to her doubts. How could she ever be truly safe with her around.

"Nothing's going to happen to you." He reassured. "Listen to me," he said firmly. "I will do everything in my power to keep you safe. And I mean everything. You are the most important person to me, and I won't let anything happen to you. Not now, not ever."

Rory felt a surge of emotion as Robby spoke, and she leaned in to press a gentle kiss to his lips. It was a small gesture, but it held all the words that they didn't need to say.

"I believe you." She whispered against his mouth, feeling the warmth of his embrace surround her.

She felt Robby smile against her lips, but the moment between them didn't last long when loud commotion began to grow from outside.

The two of them back away from each other slowly and held each other's hands as they made their way outside.

There they found Sam and Tory fight, nothing crazy, but a fight nonetheless.

Rory looked up at Robby and gave him a reassuring nod and he split off to help Miguel break the fight.

"She's been working with Kreese this whole time!" Sam shouted.

Robby turned, looking over at Tory. "What?"

"Why did you only come forward now? Huh?" Sam asked. "Because you're a coward."

"Screw you, LaRusso." Tory sighed. "I knew this was a mistake."

Tory turned to leave, her eyes locking with Rory's as she did so.

Rory took a step back as Belle stepped forward slightly.

Tory didn't press on and left the party along with Sam who turned in the opposite direction.

The party had died right then and there and everyone decided to make their way home.

As for Rory... she stayed in her room for two days straight. She felt safer there than she did outside of Miguel's place.

There was a small knock on her door and Jack stuck his head inside the room to see Rory lying in bed, her back facing him as The Princess Diaries played on her computer.

Jack heavily sighed and stepped into the room and made his way over to Rory's bed. He sat down gently and his hand rubbed Rory's back as softly as he could.

He knew that Rory had been scared for or scared of what Tory could and possibly would do to her. That's why he didn't press her to try and compete when it was Cobra Kai against them. He rather protect her as long as he could then seeing her constantly getting beat down.

But then again, he didn't want to see her like this. This was something that he couldn't control, but he could try his best to give his advice.

Though Jack had never been in this situation before, he'd knew that Rory didn't have to fight this alone.

His worst nightmare was to see her not try and conquer her fears, even if that meant she had to face them head on.

"Seeing you in the hospital and unresponsive is probably the only time I felt like I failed as a parent."

Rory turned her head away from her movie to look over at her father.

"I never thought I could be a parent." Jack chuckled. "I told your mom when we were younger that I never wanted kids and here I am with twins and I never felt like a failure until that day in the hospital with you."

Rory sighed deeply and sat upright, her back pressed against the headboard as she looked over at Jack.

"Whatever pain, fear, regret you ever feel... I want you to give that to me because I can handle it and if I can't, I will always find a way to because you don't deserve any of that Aurora." Jack sighed, his eyes brimming with tears. "You deserve everything in this world and damned if I can't give that to you."

"I don't want to feel like this forever." She muttered. "I don't like... feeling this way."

Rory never liked to cry in front of her father, something about it made her feel weak, like she couldn't be emotional in front of him because she was taught to be strong.

Yet, she'd never seen Jack cry until now and something about seeing her father cry for her broke her in ways she couldn't comprehend.

"I don't want you to think that a feeling like this is going to last forever because it isn't." Jack said. "You have every right to be afraid, that's normal, but I want you to be able to talk to me about it. Rory, I want to help and I- I should've known."

Rory quickly shifted from her position on the bed and brought her father into her, her eyes shut tightly as she rested her chin against his shoulder blade.

And for the first time in her life, Rory saw her dad cry.

It was almost scary.

He'd began crying so quickly as he held Rory close to him, his one hand resting on the back of her head like he'd been holding her as a baby.

They would hold each other a cry, whatever Rory felt, Jack would now do this same, taking her pain in the best way that he could and make it his own.

Because she deserved to grow up happy without the constant worry that someone would destroy her like someone already had.

He wanted to be there for her and all she had to do was let him in.

And so she would.

THERE WAS a small knock on the door and when it opened Tory had been face to face with Rory for the first time, alone, in forever.

"Rory..." Tory paused. "What are you doing here?"

Rory took in a deep breath, but before she spoke, she looked down at Tory's hand. Her knuckles extremely red and bruised.

"What happened?" Rory asked.

Tory looked down... she knew that Rory was being sincere. She always had been. Rory had been nothing but nice to Tory and Tory quickly ruined that friendship in a matter of seconds.

So, she moved her hand out of sight and Rory took that as a sign to move on.

"I uh, I don't want to be here." She said. "It's the last place I want to be, but if you're having problems with Corba Kai like you say you are, I'd be the one who's willing to listen to what you have to say."

Tory simply nodded and allowed Rory to enter her apartment.

It was a mess, food and empty boxes lying everywhere.

Tory sighed as she sat down on the couch with Rory standing in front of her, the bag of ice on her hand as she began to explain what was currently happing over at Cobra Kai.

"I wanted to win the All Valley more than anything." She began. "After my match with Sam, when they handed me that trophy... that was the best moment of my life. But then I saw Silver and that ref, and it just killed me. I felt like a fraud. And I wanted to get back at Silver so bad. That's why I listened to Kreese but then I got caught up in more lies. And now my life is a living hell."

"I understand that you felt like you had no one to talk to." Rory said. "Our situations are very different, but I understand." She sighed. "But maybe we can help each other."

Tory looked up.

"Sam told that she talked to Stingray and he admitted that it was Silver who assaulted him in the old dojo. He's just too afraid to go to the police."

"I knew Silver was involved, but... I had no idea he did it with his own hands."

"The only problem is, is that we can't prove it."

"Well if it happened at the old dojo maybe we can."
