The day was cold; and dark. People walked on the streets in coats and warm clothing.
They were quick and they didn't want to waste time trying to get where they needed to be.

Beyond the streets was the dark ally. Not many people would pass there; but some do.
Many of the homeless lived and begged for money. The most homeless out of all of them was 20 year old Josh Dun. He's been homeless ever since we escaped from a foster home.

When he was a child, his father was extremely abusive to him because he came out as gay. And he abused his mother because he blamed her for the birthing Josh. As a result, he killed his mother and threw out the children.
Josh and his siblings have been in foster care of a long time. Until Josh abandoned them and escaped. He attempted to steal money but couldn't bring himself to do it.

Josh was now on his own; living on the streets with nothing but his shattered coat on his back. Each day, he would sit by the ally and hold out his bucket. He begged each day for some money. Many have offered him while everyone else walked by.

Not only was Josh homeless, he was extremely harmful to himself. Late at night, he would cut himself with a razor blade and rub his blood over his face. He didn't understand why he would want to do this, but life hasn't approved for him. He hasn't found a solution to being happy.

One day, Josh decided to walk along the streets to see things that he hasn't seen much in his life. The place he lived was beautiful. The town was peaceful and calm. Everyone knew each other equally and exceptionally. Josh; however, isn't really known by anyone except for the roads he walked on. Well, that's pretty much all he knew.

Josh thought about going to a shop to spend a bit of the money he earned; which was only 75 cents. He knew he needed to use the money wisely.

He walked around the shop to find anything that was at least 50 cents or lower. All he could find were a pack of mentos and a small bottle of water.

"This will have to do." He thought.

Josh brought his items to the register. The cashier scanned them and came up with a total.

"75 cents please."

Josh put out his four quarters.

"You can keep the change." He said.

"Are you sure?"

Josh nodded.

The cashier handed Josh the receipt.

"You have a safe night sir." He said.

Josh took his bag and walked outside. He thought about the kind cashier. He was lucky to have a home and a job. While Josh had nothing.

As he was walking out, something caught his eye. He turned around to see a boy. It was almost like a star appeared right in front of him.

That boy, that human figure. Josh couldn't stop looking at him. Then he eye balled his smile. It almost made Josh fall over. Without hesitation; because he was shy, he followed him.
