Chapter 30

DOUBLE UPDATE BITCHES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Picture of William

-----------

William's P.O.V

"You keep hold of her."

"I am."

"A tight hold on her." Damon clarifies crisply.

"I said I am," I reply with as much patience my body could muster.

"I'm serious Will, I don't need that monster tearing him apart." Damon voices from the other side of the door.

"Okay, first of all, Sassy is not a monster. She is your Moon Goddess reincarnated and more." I snap as I glare at the door which stood between me and the person who deserved my narrowed gaze.

"Don't disrespect her like that." Damon shoots back, rambling on before I could respond. "This is me warning you, I will kill the bitch if she touches Blaze."

Deep breaths Will, just take deep breathes...

"Damon." I start with a sharp intake. "Did we not agree that there would be no more animal murders by your hand or any deaths, for that matter."

Silence lings in the air for a single moment.

"Yes," Damon mumbles as if the admission pained him.

"So why are you threatening to kill my dog?" I reply with a calmer tone than I expected.

"Because all of that goes out the window with Blaze," Damon admits with a protectiveness to his tone that made my skin tingle. "I promise you, I will make a special exception for your Sassy if she touches Blaze."

If this wasn't so messed up, it could be cute.

"You're the one who wanted them to meet." I protest angrily, glancing down at Sassy who sat between my legs looking equally as fed up with this situation as I felt.

"Because it has to happen at some point, can't put it off forever." Damon replies with an audible sigh, "We can't go to the pack with them never meeting."

We could just not go at all...

"She won't hurt him if you use your so-called animal whisper skills," I grumble instead, not vocalizing the fruitless thought.

"Sarcasm looks better on me." He replies quickly, the smirk practically vocal in his words. "And your dog is the only exception."

"The only exception to your gift that shouldn't have any exceptions?" I question which a helplessly chuckle as Sassy sticks her tongue out. "Yeah, makes sense."

"Will I swear to Goddes-"

"Open the door before I lock it," I say cutting him off before he could start yet another rant, one which had to be backed with his crazy, moon lady.

I watch impatiently as the doorknob slowly twists, turning at a snail's pace while Sassy and I wait with decreasing patience.
I shift my weight to my other leg as I stare at the door, the wooden thing only opening a few millimeters at the hands of the overcautious wolf who stood on the other side.

Taking a deep breath, I force myself not to just pull the door open as I wait for Damon to try and locate his balls.
All attempts so far seemed to be unsuccessful.

I catch his deep, blue eyes first peeking at me through the space of the door as it slowly opens, a clear warning within them as they narrowed in accusation.

"He's shy," Damon mumbles in a feigned attempt at an excuse.

Rolling my eyes, I watch as the door eventually parts completely, revealing my overdramatic Damon standing before me with his beloved, oversized bunny hanging limply from between his hands.

Sassy's bored expression slipped from her face as she lifted her head some to look up at Damon. Her face contorting into obvious disinterest once her eyes met his.

Then they drifted down to Blaze, the black, bundle of fur seeming to peak hed interest as she tilted her head to the side.

I keep my grip tight on Sassy's leash as she pushes off her legs to close the distance between her and Blaze. She sniffs gently at the bottom of Blaze's thick legs, wet nose dampening his fur as she examined him, the action making Damon tense immediately.

"I will kill you." He growls in warning to Sassy who continues to sniff around the bottom of Blaze's feet.

Blaze didn't seem to appreciate the attention on his chunky feet because he began kicking his legs out in protest, one connecting with Sassy's nose making her pull back with a light bark.

"This isn't going to work," Damon says as he pulls Blaze to his chest, cuddling him like a teddybear.

"It's been a minute." I deadpan as I look at him.

"And she managed to fuck it up within sixty seconds." Damon continues, though his words were hard to take seriously while he coddled Blaze who seemed to be moving the attention. "You have to get rid of her."

Dear Moon Lady help me...

"Damon, put Blaze down so they can interact. Holding him in the air like that isn't going to lead to anything," I explain gently. "You can even hold Sassy yourself to make sure she doesn't do anything."

Damon visibly tosses the suggestion around in his head for a few moments before finally nodding his approval.
I hand over the leash and step back as I watch Damon slowly lower Blaze to the floor like some beloved king that he lived to serve.

Sassy appeared to have lost all interest in Blaze as she wiggled her nose indignantly at him, raising her paw to scratch at the upset body part.

Blaze apparently cared much less about his life than his owner as he hopped straight into Sassy's space, driven by either interest or a blatant will to die.

Damon's grip on the leash tightened as his per stared up at Sassy with curiosity.

As if now acknowledging his presence, Sassy drops her head to once again attempt sniffing him. Well, she tried to sniff him, doing her best with the little leeway Damon would award her.

Their noses continue to shift as they prod one another, both apparently baffled by this new animal before them.

"See it's fine," I say gesturing to the two, my words sticking on my tongue as Sassy suddenly opened her mouth.

A small squeal scrambles my mins for a moment as Sassy swipes her tongue over Blaze's head. I glance up to a reddening Damon, smirk refusing to fade as his squeal replays itself in my mind.

"Alpha who?" I tease making his jaw clench as he flips me off.

I return my attention to our pets, Sassy tongue still worked at coating Blaze who didn't seem to mind one bit.

He seemed to actually enjoy it.

In fact, as Sassy laid down, he slipped into the space between her front legs and curled into her chest as she set her head around him.

The squeal that left my lips wasn't optional, it really wasn't.

"So they like each other," Damon says as he slips behind me, eyes wide with surprise as he tucks his head into my neck. "but they hate us."

"Dickheads," I mutter as I sink into his hold, warmth spreading through my bones at having him close.

As if sensing that they were the subject of our conversation, both Sassy and Blaze look up at us. Sassy huffing with disdain at Damon with a wicked side-eye while Blaze narrowed his beady eyes on me like I was his prey. Then, as if they didn't just curse us both with their eyes, they curl back into one another.

"I've never been so confused in my entire life," Damon mumbles as he looks at the two black, balls of fur.

"Me neither but it leaves one less problem for us," I reply as I turn within his arms to wrap my arms around his waist.

Pressing my chin to his chest, I smile as Damon pulls me closer to him, his attention falling to me as an easy smile slipped onto his lips.

"Then things continue as planned." He says almost hesitantly, the fear transparent within his words. "We leave this week."

"If you're sure," I reply, searching his heavy, blue eyes that spoke of both excitement and sadness.

"I am," Damon says with a nod. "I want to go home."

Home being an expanse of lands in the woods which housed a pack of werewolves. A place we were set to go to by the end of the week, our things were packed and there were only a few loose ends to tie up, then we'd be one our way.

On our way to the place which represented Damon's entire life before me, his real home.

The place that isolated him with people who apparently hated him as well as the place where his family waited for him. The people who I knew he loved the most in this world even though they hurt him the most.

It wasn't that I wasn't excited to see Damon's world and learn more about him, it was that I couldn't help the grudge my heart formed against the place that broke him.

"I want to go, with you..." Damon continues, smiling after his own words. "I want you to meet see the pack lands and meet my family. They'll love you and I know you'll love them too."

"Unless they don't," I say, offering up one of my thousands of worries. "I'm the person who kept you away from them all this time, it'd be weird if they didn't hate me for that."

"You didn't keep me away." He says immediately shutting me down, a deep frown contorting his face and pulling away from that smile of his I'd grown an attachment to. "I left on my own and that was a decision I made for me, not because I met you. I'm not going back because I have you, I'm going back because my family needs me and I know that I need them."

"Okay," I reply, knowing his tunnel vision wouldn't let him see it any other way. Just as mine made it harder for me to do the same.

"If anything it's the opposite," Damon comments thoughtfully, "I don't think I would've been ready to go back on my own, even with Theo's help, I wouldn't have been ready to even think about going back."

"Theo?" I question with a small frown.

I'd memorized every name and detail awarded to me by Damon about his family members, determined to be prepared when I met them all. But I'd never once heard of a Theo, or at least I didn't think I had.

"My wolf." He says in a 'duh' tone that was misplaced. My frown slips to him when my look of confusion doesn't falter. "Theo also goes by Theodore, my inner wolf."

"Damon, I don't know what that means," I say slowly as I stare up at him, both of us stuck in a swirl of confusion. "Who's Theo?"

---meanwhile in Damon's head----

Damon how could you forget the part about another living being inside of you?! - Theo snaps angrily.

How could I forget? - Damon snaps back. You're inside of me! How could you forget?!!

I am allowed to take breaks

-------

"Hello," I say poking Damon's chest lightly. "Damon, who's Theo."

"Uhhhh." Damon drags as his eyes dart between by own, fingers tightening around me. "I may have fucked up just a little bit."

"Explain." I say with a deepening frown.

"Theo's my wolf, he's like inside of me and we balance control together." Damon scrambles to explain, his words making my head spin instead. "He's to wolf component in werewolf and I'm the human component."

"Inside of you?" I repeat with a deepening frown. "Balance control?"

"Okay, um like... I'm the human he's the wolf, he's why I can shift cause it's him and I'm why he can like be comprehensible, cause I'm like me." Damon says before smiling proudly as if his words made perfect sense.

"Damon, you are making zero sense right now," I say as I wipe a hand over my eyes, trying to approach this with a clear mind. "None of your words are making sense."

"There's a wolf in-"

"You're just rewording the same words that still don't make sense." I cut him off, making him shut his mouth tightly.

Then Damon zones out.

Like actually zones out, eyes focused on me despite being on a completely different wavelength. His face creasing for a moment before relaxing, the process repeating itself several times until he brought his mind back to me.

"Theo thinks he should be the one to explain it to you," Damon says as he rubs my shoulders gently. "He says he'll do a better job of explaining it."

"Theo the wolf who is inside of you," I say not understanding my own words for a single second. But Damon didn't seem to notice that bit as he nodded vigorously.

"Wait," Damon says as he steps away from me, putting an annoying distance between us as he scratches his head. "He doesn't want to make you uncomfortable, so space until you're ready."

Even in math, I was never this lost.

"Seriously, Theo..." Damon sighs heavily to himself as he wipes a hand over his face before glancing my way between his fingers. "He wants to hear you say that you're okay with him coming out."

"Coming out of where?" I exclaim, mind bursting while images I hoped weren't real formed in my head.

"I'm giving him control, so he'll come forth to talk to you like I am now," Damon explains with a smile.

"You're possessed," I say with a shrug. "What you're describing is being possessed and therefore, I rebuke you in the name of Jesus."

"I'm not possessed," Damon argues looking truly offended.

"Our father, who art in heaven ha-"

"Will!" He groans with clear frustration as he drops his head back. His expression somehow making him look like a child on the verge of a meltdown, the scene making me giggle helplessly.

"Okay, I'll leave the possess case alone until I have a bible." I surrender, still laughing despite how I willed myself to stop. "I am okay with your wolf coming forward even though I don't know what that means or what it will look like."

Damon nods before closing his eyes, only to open them a second later as if nothing changed.

But something had.

The entire atmosphere around him shifted as he stood a little taller, posturing straightening as he ran a slightly, shaking hand through his hair. His chin rises as he brings his eyes to mine, the warmth in them differing from the one I'd come to know as mine.

"Hello William," Damon says, voice coming deeper than before.

"Hi," I reply with a raised brow, not sure as to why we were doing greetings. "Damon, is Theo out now or something?" I ask unsurely after an uncomfortable moment of silence passes on.

"I am Theo," Da- Theo says with a nervous smile. "Damon's wolf."

My mind spins as I try to adjust my mind's way of thinking, finding it difficult to place a second person in the frame of my boyfriend.

I almost couldn't believe it, sure that this was Damon's failed attempt at pranking me. But Damon really wasn't one for joking around, and even if he was, the difference in attitude was significant enough to put that thought to bed.

"I understand how this may be difficult for you to understand," Damo- Theo starts as he rubs his hands together, the only form of movement between the two of us. "So, I'll try my best to explain things to you and move at a pace suitable for you."

"Okay," I say automatically.

Theo looked scared, well more nervous than scared but there were definitely some clear fears in his eyes. The discomfort spreading my wave making it essential that I soothed it.

"Should we sit?" I ask gesturing to the couch.

Theo nods with an easy smile that makes my heart flutter, I rub at my chest a little as we make our way to the awaiting furniture. Sinking down on opposite sides with the most uncomfortable gap between us.

"So, you're Damon's wolf?" I start, turning a bit to face him. "What does that even mean?"

"Well in the simplest of terms, a werewolf is half-man and half-wolf. Goddess pairs together a man and a wolf whose spirits would blend to make the perfect being, a perfect match of sorts." Theo explains, brows pulling in gently as he thought. "We contribute something both to the pairing that keeps a werewolf balanced. As a wolf, I give Damon the ability to shift. To take my form and experience that state of us, as well as the ability to connect to a pack as a wolf would."

"You put the were in werewolf." I tease before realizing there was no human part to the word. "Actually, you put the wolf in there too... I'm stupid."

Theo laughs, the sound taking me by surprise as I glance up to see his lips parted in a wide smile while a gentle laugh tumbled from his lips. I stare dumbfounded at the man who wasn't the one I knew, different down to his laugh that was heavier than Damon's but just as sweet to my ears.

"You tried and that's what's important," Theo replies once he recovers making me chuckle lightly. "So that's my contribution to this body, Damon gives me the ability to live life with words and communication beyond a wolf's capacity. He extends my understanding and allows me a different chance at life."

"I think I get it," I say as I studying him for a bit. "So, you share a body?" Theo nods. "Isn't that weird and why does Damon have more control than you?"

"That's just the way things are," He says with a shrug. "Our role is to guide and help our human component, it's not something we dislike."

"But this is the first time I've met you," I argue as I study him. "And I've known Damon for months now."

Theo chuckles lightly, the sound washing over me like a warm blanket as he offers me a reassuring grin.

"I've been in control a couple of times, just when you haven't been present." He informs making my eyes widen a bit. "When we're in the pack, wolves tend to come out more often to be with other wolves... it's a balance that works."

"I just," I start with a small sigh. "I feel bad for you, having to share a life with someone else when you could be living every moment... doesn't that bother you?"

"Not in the slightest," Theo answers immediately. "I find my greatest pleasure from helping Damon, happiest when I can ensure that he is happy as well. Yes, I do have wishes which extend Damon but those are all achievable to me, it's not like I'm locked up with only a few glimpses of the sun."

I laugh a little at Theo's attempt to soften the atmosphere a bit. He studies me, eyes darting all over my face the way Damon sometimes did as if he were taking in all of me.

"If it makes you feel any better, there's been times in history when the roles were reversed," Theo reveals making my eyes widen, my interests peaked as I drawn in a little closer. "When the world werewolves lived in required more the wolf than the human to survive and adapt. At that time, the wolves were in control more times than the human components."

"That's cool," I admit as I think it over. "Do you wish you were living at that time?"

"No William," Theo assures me with a gentle smile. "Please believe me when I say that I am quite happy with the life I live and my role in it."

"And what is that exactly?" I ask hesitantly, not sure if I truly wanted to hear the answer.

"To devote myself to Damon, spend whatever time I can with my family," He pauses for a moment as his eyes dart up to me, "and to drown my mate with never-ending adoration."

My heart lurches in my chest at his words, blood surging beneath my heating skin as I stay completely still under Theo's heavy gaze. It was like if he expected me to run, expected me to recoil at the words that did nothing but warm my soul.

For the first time since speaking to Theo, he resembled Damon. His eyes held the same fear I was growing all too familiar with, the one that seemed to tie Damon down at every turn no matter what I did. The fear that I'd run from him, like all before seemed to have.

"I'm your mate as well?" I ask, needing confirmation.

Theo nods slowly. I open my mouth to respond but he jumps to fill the silence before I could.

"I understand that this is strange for you as a human." He says taking a deep breath. "I know it must be weird to have to deal with two partners instead of one, but I assure you William that is not the case with me. I don't wish to partake in any sort of sexual activities with you, I don't intend to pursue a relationship like the one you have with Damon."

"Theo I- "

"I want, o-or hope for rather, hope for a relationship that reflects more of a friendship. A deep friendship that is, one with love between us that I know can grow with time if you chose to give me that time. I see us getting along, I really do. From what I've witnessed with your time with Damon, I know we can have something that'd fit us both."

Theo's chest rises and falls rapidly as he breathes sporadically, his eyes wide and desperate as his mouth continued to pour out a plea for something, I knew I couldn't deny him. Not when even thing in me demanded that I eased his pain, soothed his worried and gave him exactly what he wanted.

"I've always been afraid of having a mate," He admits with a heavy sigh as if the admission was one, which he kept close to him. "For werewolf mates, the wolf usually pairs with the other wolf in that scenario... but I've never been fond of that idea. Wolves are very affectionate, sensory creatures and I've never really blended well with that aspect of my life... even before Damon.

I believe that love doesn't always need to be shown in ways of lust, there are other ways to love someone. I lean more towards a lifestyle like that, which is why I always feared having a mate that would hope for more than I wanted to give. I think that's one of the reasons we have you as a mate William."

"Because I'm human." I fill in and he nods.

"With you, I don't think you expect a relationship like that from me and I think... you'd be happy with the one I've always wanted. It suits us both, as well as Damon, he doesn't say it but he is disturbingly possessive and I think sharing you in that manner would never sit well with him."

I scoff gently at that, mind producing a memory of Damon sucking my neck why his hands roamed my body in the most tortuous fashion all because I stayed on the phone for too long with Francis. Not stopping even when I hung up as he whispered demands for me to focus on him, as if we didn't spend every waking moment together.

"So, you want us to be friends?" I ask, dipping my head a little to meet his eyes that had now dropped. "Friends with a little something more to it." I clarify, smiling a little at the prospect.

"If you don't mind trying," Theo says quickly.

I could admit that my head was still a little fucked trying to understand how there was literally another person living inside of Damon. He was his wolf, yes, but he had feelings and thoughts, emotions and wants that I knew couldn't truly always be achieved in the confines of the shared vessel.

It was strange and sad to me.

But Theo didn't seem to see it that way if anything he seemed grateful for his connection with Damon. Something that made me smile without me even trying, I hadn't spoken to Theo for long but I could tell his maturity exceeded both Damon and I's, somehow appearing wise in a way that I was sure supported Damon immensely.

For that, I was thankful to him.

And he was nice, sweet in fact with his juxtaposition personality which wavered between confident and shy. A weird mix I was starting to enjoy. Not to mention the fact that he didn't want a sexual relationship with me, something I knew I couldn't give. It was wrong in my mind as if I were cheating on Damon in some way.

"You said earlier that you'd witnessed times between Damon and me." I state after a few minutes of letting my mind run. "Does that mean you're present even when Damon is in 'control'?"

"Yeah, I see what happens unless I don't want to or Damon wants privacy." He explains with a smile. "I take my leave when you two start your 'activities'."

Heat rose up my neck at the thought of someone possibly watching all the times when Damon's and I's hands wandered around one another. Embarrassment mixing strangely with a shot of arousal at the thought.

You disgust me, William Evans...

"And Damon's listening now?" I ask after clearing my throat a little.

"He is, attempting in his own way to offer support," Theo says before laughing lightly as he rolls his eyes. "He says to tell you that he says hi."

I find myself laughing with Theo, the gesture such a 'Damon' thing to do. As our laughter dies down some, Theo's eyes lighten as he watches me for a moment longer.

"If you need time to think this over, please just say so. It's nothing to feel pressured over, it's entirely up to you William." Theo says with so much sincerity that I couldn't hold out any longer.

"Come give me a hug," I demand with a wide grin as I push up onto my knees.

Theo's eyes widen in surprise, lips parting as his tongue seems to stick in his mouth. I outstretch my arms and wiggle them a bit, gesturing for him to come but he seemed a little stuck.

"Y-You don't have to do this, especially if you aren't ready to f-"

"Theo," I say cutting him off. "Please give me a hug before I force one onto you."

Theo stares at me for a few, long moments, clear disbelief still apparent in his gaze. Then as if pushed forward, he shifted a little closer and slowly came into my awaiting arms.

Once he was in my grasp, I wrapped my arms around him in a gentle hold. Not squeezing or pulling his closer, I tucked my chin into his neck and let him slowly sink into the hug.

I smile when two slightly, trembling arms wrapped around my waist. The touch so soft at first before he seemed to accept that I wouldn't run from him, that's when he let the tension slip from him as he hugged me.

"I think we are going to get along just fine," I promise with a happy heart. "Just fine and more."

Theo releases a sigh of contentment as he leans into me, breath brushing my skin just a bit.

"Thank you," He whispers almost so softly that I didn't hear it.

We'd be just fine.
