Chapter 2
My eyes slowly started to open as I looked up and saw a black ceiling of some kind. Where was I? My eyes were now completely open as I tried to look up. But I felt a hand hold me down. "Stay down and don't try anything."
I looked over and saw a man dressed I dark black body armor with 2 more other people with there faces obscured with helmets and goggles. I winced in pain as I felt my leg again. I looked down and saw it bandaged up. "Who... who are you people?"
None of them said a word and then the man suddenly spoke.
" That is none of your concern now stay down or I will be forced ro hold you down."
I sighed and listened to him as I slowly noticed that we were in a helicopter. I looked up a little and saw a window looking out over vast forests and mountains. Shit were these the people who took anyone who ventured outside the walls? Oh god... where the hell were these people taking me?
I stayed down as I looked up at the man again. He looked up ahead not looking down at me. There were many wrinkles present on his face, his hair what looked to be brown now starting to turn gray. He looked around in his 50s.
He looked down and saw me staring at him. He groaned. " My name is Logan Fellowes. Now tell us your name. We're gonna need it."
I blinked a few times before I slowly opened up my mouth to speak. "Misty... Misty Panchak." I said with a bit of nervousness in my voice.
He nodded. "Well Misty you will see where we are taking you shortly."
Oh no... what were they gonna do to me? I was feeling a little anxious of what they were gonan do, what were they capable of? I didn't wanna know. The helicopter soon started to fly down lower and the pilot landed it on a helicopter pad.
I quickly looked up and saw we were in some kind of military base. But where was the question. A few minutes passed by and the pilot took off her headset and looked over to Logan. "Take her to the train. Make sure she doesn't try to escape."
He nodded. "She won't." He took out a pair of handcuffs from his pocket and lifted up one of my hands. "Don't try and resist it'll just make things worse."
I felt the cold metal of the handcuffs wrap around my wrists as he put them on me and he pulled me up off the floor of the helicopter. "Start moving."
I sighed and listened to him as the pilot opened up the helicopter door and I stepped out with Logan and the other soldiers or whatever they were following behind me. I slowly glanced around to maybe get a better feeling of where the hell I was.
The entire base was surrounded by very high chain link fences with barbed wire near the top and very tall guard towers around all of the perimeter with search lights. And beyond the fences were tall trees of endless forest. This didn't seem to be New York state anymore... somewhere probably far away... god I wonder how my sister and mother were doing? My mom probably didn't care, but maybe I my sister was distraught and looking for me. I hoped
Logan shoved me forward as I pulled myself out of my thoughts and continued moving, passing by rows of helicopters and trucks towards a few gray buildings where a train sat on the tracking laying. Who knows where this train was gonna go? Probably wasn't taking me to Hogwarts that's for sure.
Logan kept a tight grip on me as we approached the platform next to the train and he walked over to another guard. A young girl. She had brown hair tied back in a gun, she was dressed in a dark uniform and she was pretty shorter than me and big bulging eyes that sent shivers down my spine. She looked close to my age. What was she doing here?
Logan handed me off to her. "Make sure to get her on the train car with no difficulties Gloria, I don't want any mess ups like the last time and if does happen again you know what happens."
She nodded her head. "Yes sir." She grabbed me by my shoulder and started pushing me forward to the train car. "Move faster." She said as we approached the traincar.
As we approached it I quickly turned around and looked at her. "Tell me what the hell this is? Why did you people take me to god knows where?"
She didn't answer and pushed me along. "Get on the train, and piece of advice, don't ask questions, it'll get you killed."
She pushed me onto the traincar and opened the metal door and followed behind me. She closed it behind her and took out a key and unhooked one of my hands and hooked it to a metal pole near a blue bench. "Sit down." She commanded.
I slowly sat down and tried not looking at her. She kept a straight face and walked down towards the front of the traincar towards I guess the front of the train. I was now left alone in this traincar. What the hell was I going to do? I couldn't escape, even if i did I had no idea how to survive out here, the dead would get me or probably a wild animal.
The train started moving as I heard Gloria walk back into the train car and she sat in the bench in front of me and she kept her hand close to her holster. I slowly averted my gaze from her. What if she shot me? I didn't wanna die like this... I didn't wanna go to where they were taking me. I should have never hopped the wall... I should have never... I just wanted to go home.
I turned around and saw a window behind me. I managed to get a glimpse of out of it and saw a lot of trees and some mountains. Still where was this train taking me to? Did I even want to know that question?
The train continued passing by endless amounts of forests and mountains and I had no other choice than to just watch. I occasionally glanced over at Gloria to see what she was up to. She had averted her gaze from me and she was fiddling with her knife.
I watched her fiddle with the knife for a while until she looked up and saw me staring at her. She didn't say anything and turned away and looked out as the train rode by the endless forests and mountains.
After a long period of time just sitting there looking out the window the the door at the end of the car opened and Logan walked inside with another woman.
Both Logan and the woman looked in my direction with blank expressions. I didn't break eye contact with them and didn't bother to say anything. I looked more closely at the woman. She looked of Japanese descent and her hair was dark black and cut into a bob and her brown eyes stared me down. She looked in her early 40s. She was around the same height as Logan and she had 2 long scars down her face on her left cheek.
"This is the girl, her name is Misty Panchak. You and Gloria will be escorting her as soon as we get to our destination." Logan replied as he looked back over at me.
The woman named Chanel looked me up and down and she nodded. "Yes sir."
Logan then nodded his head at her and looked over at me. "You'll see where we are taking you to real soon." Then he turned away and walked towards the door.
I quickly shouted over before he exited. "Just tell me where you are taking me! Please!"
He didn't turn around but spoke. "I told you, you will find out real soon." He then exited out the door, closing it behind him.
I saw Gloria giving me a disapproving look. I sighed and looked up and saw Chanel still eyeing me up and down. Why was she still staring at me? I quickly looked away from her towards the other side of the train. I could still feel her eyes on me. I just wanted to go home. Back to my terrible mother and sister.
"Gloria." I heard the woman named Chanel say from behind me.
Gloria turned her head and looked at over at her. "Yes Lieutenant Nakamura?"
"Go check if Logan needs help with anything towards the front. I'll watch her." Chanel replied still sounding calm.
Oh no. I didn't wanna be alone with her. "Logan told me to stay here."
"Well I am telling you to go see if he needs any help. Don't disobey my order." Chanel answered, still calmly.
I heard Gloria sigh as she stood up and walked towards the door and pulled it open and left the car, leaving me with Chanel. I saw her staring at me and she kept eyeing me up and down. I avoided her gaze.
"Boise." I heard her say in a low tone.
I turned around and looked at her confused. "What?"
She replied again. "Boise Idaho. That's where this train is taking you."
"Boise? Why there?" I was soon interrupted when the train door opened again and Gloria walked back inside the car and she looked at Chanel.
"He didn't need anything." She said and then sat back down on the bench and looked at me.
I avoided her and looked towards Chanel. Why did she tell me where this train was taking me? Why? I saw her looking straight ahead now. Holding her hands together.
I slowly looked back down at the floor in front of me. Boise... Boise... so I was on the other end of the country. New York city was very far away from there. So even if I managed to escape how would I get back? Across the entire country, into unknown and dangerous territory.
I let out another small sigh and just leaned back in the seat. I guess just go with the flow of whatever this was for now. The train continued passing by endless forests until it started passing by overgrown grass fields and now by a river.
Next thing it passed was abandoned overgrown suburbs that had wither been burnt out or were covered in vines. Chanel and Gloria didn't say anything the whole time and then the train started to come to a stop and the train door opened once again.
It was Logan again. "We're here."
