Tian Xing was wondering what to do next.
She then remembered about the Wens burning down the Cloud Recesses.
Instantly her mind was filled with worries for the Lans. She had to go and save them.
Tian Xing cared for the Lan brothers, not the clan. They can go shit themselves for all she cares.
But she couldn’t let the Twin Jades, especially Lan WangJi, get hurt like she had read in the novel.
She instantly went to inform in Jiangs that she will be leaving.
The disciples, as promised, had given her quite a handful of money, which to be honest, embarrassed Tian Xing a lot.
Wei WuXian and Jiang Cheng were both somewhat gloomy. They had gotten attached with her with the time they spent with her in these couple of days.
"Thank you so much for giving me such hospitality. I will always be grateful."
"Come visit us again some time, ya?"
"Hahaha yes I will." Tian Xing smiled, "I will be here when you need me the most."
It was not a lie. She would be there. When they need her the most.
Ironic huh? She is a demon by blood here.
Tian Xing asked for one final item, the map to the gentry sects.
Wei WuXian happily gave her one. And in return she gave Wei WuXian and Jiang Cheng the advice of a lifetime.
"A-Xian, A-Cheng, I will tell you this right here, right now."
Both the boys were startled with the familiarity she addressed them with.
"Know your worth. If you don't know it, no one can make it known to you. But if you know it, no one can bring you down, no matter what they say. Know just how much you matter, to everyone, to me. If you ever, in your life, think that there is no one on this world for you, think of me. Because I, Tian Xing, will be there, when you need me the most."
Wei WuXian and Jiang Cheng looked at her, awed and startled. There was an underlying meaning in those words but they couldn’t figure it out.
Such naive souls they were. Naive with passion and the burning fire of youth.
Tian Xing smiled at them one last time and set sail for her new destination.
This was the first time she had tried to travel with her sword.
It was not pleasant.
She had fallen out of balance more times than she could count and fallen to the ground.
Finally she decided to travel on foot and occasionally practice her skills of flying on a sword in places where she would not embarrass herself.
Because there were a lot of people laughing at her right now as she laid in the ground in an awkward position after falling from her sword for the umpteenth time.
'Ugh...being a cultivator is such a pain in the ass.'
Tian Xing travelled for a week, saving her money as much as she could.
Sleeping under trees and having meals from the forest were necessary.
She had difficulties, yes. But there was no other way.
On the seventh day, she reached Cloud Recesses and what she saw made her heart dry of oxygen.
The Wens were already attacking the Cloud Recesses.
It looked like it was just beginning of the invasion.
Lan WangJi, Lan Qiren and Lan XiChen were fighting with all their might along with the elders and disciples of the Gusu Lan sect.
Tian Xing watched as QingHeng-Jun, Lan WangJi's father, Lan HaoXuan came out of his seclusion quarters and joined the fight.
"XiongZhang!" yelled Lan Qiren.
"Qiren! What's going- Ah!"
He swiftly defended an attack from the Wen soldiers.
"Fuqin!" called Lan XiChen.
Lan WangJi was too surprised to call him.
Suddenly Lan HaoXuan yelled, "A-Huan, take the scriptures and important scrolls of the Library and run away! They will burn down everything! We can rebuild anything else but we cannot do anything if those are burned as well!"
Lan XiChen obviously wanted to protest but Lan Qiren yelled, "XiChen! Go!"
Lan XiChen gulped, then he complied.
Tian Xing at that point had reached the top of the mountain.
She swiftly cleared the way where she entered the place and saw them fighting for their lives.
Tian Xing summoned her sword 'Banshui' and joined the fight alongside the Lans.
Wen Xu suddenly ordered the soldiers to grab Lan WangJi and break his right leg.
Tian Xing though, was not allowing that to happen. There was no way, NO WAY, she would let them get injured.
'Not on my watch.' she thought.
Lan WangJi was fighting too many soldiers on his own. Lan Qiren and Lan HaoXuan were both gravely injured at that point.
The Lan Clan was skilled, but the Wens had immense manpower. They were too many in number.
Tian Xing used her demonic powers at this point, albeit secretly.
The Lan Clan despised 'unorthodox' methods of cultivation.
The soldiers had grabbed Lan WangJi and at least 20 of them held him down. Wen Xu was about to come and break his right leg.
Lan WangJi closed his eyes and waited for the pain.
Except it never came. Instead he heard grunts of the soldiers, the hands holding him down slowly releasing him and Wen Xu's pained groan.
Lan WangJi opened his eyes and saw bright neon eyes glowing and a multicolour of robes.
A sword that spelled royalty and a maiden looking down at the dead soldiers laying on the ground with a smile and look that screamed confidence.
Lan WangJi's eyes widened. He had seen confidence in people’s looks before, his crush being a prime example. But this... this was different.
The maiden looked so....sure... of something.
What exactly was that confidence? It looked way too....
Lan WangJi couldn’t figure it out.
Tian Xing looked at the boy and kneeled, "Are you alright Secong Young Master Lan?"
"Mn."
"Good."
At that point both of them heard clashes of two swords loudly.
It was of Wen Xu and Lan HaoXuan. Wen Xu was losing as he had been stabbed by his opponent.
Seeing the way they were not going win, Wen Xu screamed, "Retreat!"
The Wen soldiers complied.
The battle ended in a bloody way.
Lan HaoXuan was gravely injured. Tian Xing held him and blocked his blood flow to stop them from coming out of his body and hit his pressure points.
The man fell unconscious.
"XiongZhang!"
"FuQin!"
"Don't worry. He's only unconscious. I hit his pressure points to stop too much blood loss."
The Lans didn’t believe her.
Tian Xing sighed, "Call the healers. We have casualties to treat."
