The day of the UA Festival came in a flash. The first year hero class was bustling with chatter in a mix of excitement and anxiety. Among them, a declaration of war was settled between Todoroki and Midoriya.

(Name), despite being the bunny she was, was not displaying any signs of nervousness for anything at all. She was confident in her skills as she had been trained by her brother. After all that hell, she was sure she could handle whatever UA threw her way. Nothing could be worse than being thrown off a cliff, probably.

Back on track, (Name) was talking casually with Tokoyami when Iida rushed into the room, ordering the class to make their way to the stadium.

The hallway was long and dark, and the screams of the millions of viewers could be heard echoing off the walls. A bright light awaited them at the end of the tunnel.

'-- THE HERO CLASS 1-A!' screamed Present Mic. (Name)'s ears curled. He was already loud, he really didn't need the extra speakers and microphones to amplify his voice. Her ears were ringing.

Midnight was the judge, apparently. (Name) strained her smile at the female teacher's outfit and cringed at Mineta, who was having the time of his life in the corner of her eyes.

'Firstly, the player's pledge! Come up, Bakugou Katsuki!'

Class 1-A froze. Bakugou, their most problematic child, was the one chosen to do the pledge? They all thought the same thing.

This won't end well.

'I pledge,' Bakugou calmly stated, hands in pockets. '... To be number one.'

The stadium roared in protest at his unabashed arrogance. The other classes raged and spouted insults at the hero class. Oblivious (Name) could only stare in admiration at Bakugou. She knew what he was doing. He was backing himself up into a corner. He was setting himself a huge challenge by getting the entire world against himself and overcoming everything.

'At least be a nice, bouncy step for me to stamp on.'

Midnight tried to diffuse the situation by ushering the troublesome student back down and moving on with the first event.

'And the first event is... an obstacle course!' she giggled smugly as if enjoying the colour draining from some students' faces. 'Students must run four kilometres around the stadium to get to the finish line! Any type of quirk use is fine, of course, as long as you don't leave the course. The preliminaries are where many students drink their tears, so be ready!'

The students were piled together in front of the gates. (Name) curled her ears in further, not only because she could feel her hearing die slowly but also because she was extremely uncomfortable with physical contact with strangers. And she was surrounded by a whole crowd of those.

'ON YOUR MARKS--'

Hm. Narrow tunnelway up ahead. With this many students running, people are bound to get trampled on.

'GET SET--'

I'll just have to make sure I'm out of the way of that problem.

'-- GO!'

Now!

Before anyone around her could react, (Name) had already powered herself up high above the competing students. An explosion caused by gathered and released energy sounded from her leap. The people around her stood in surprised awe for a second. And that second was all she needed to get ahead.

'WOW! USAGINAMI (FIRST NAME) HAS STARTED US OFF WITH A BOOM! LITERALLY!' The audience was shown a replay of that jump. From the giant screen, they could see in slower motion how (Name) gathered energy to jump, and gaped at the destruction left behind. There was a mini crater right where she jumped. It was enough to shake the tunnel the students were in and caused everyone to rush to get out, for fear of having the tunnel collapse on them.

Todoroki scowled at the competition. Someone already took the lead. He could make out the figure of that bunny girl in front of him, still in the air.

I won't let anyone take the lead from me.

He placed his hands on the ground. A plot second later, ice erupted and froze everything in its way. Many contestants were surprised and protested. Too many actually managed to get out.

'THAT TRICK WON'T WORK ON ME, HALF-AND-HALF,' Bakugou flew overhead using his explosions. Everyone from the hero class managed to dodge the attack. That was definitely more than Todoroki expected.

'Take this! My special move! Grape--' Mineta couldn't finish his sentence. His tiny form was smacked away like a fly by none other than the robots from the exams. Todoroki criticised the entrance exam for being too easy and froze the bots without a missed beat.

'TODOROKI SINGLE-HANDEDLY FROZE THE ROBOTS!' Present Mic grabbed his microphone and leaned off his chair. Aizawa sighed and massaged his temples.

'I froze them in unstable positions, so...' trailed off Todoroki, turning away with no guilt. The students behind him suffered and he cruised on easily. Bakugou flew again. Kirishima met his destined rival who had almost the exact same quirk he had. They looked at each other awkwardly.

'He attacked both parties simultaneously, killing two birds with one stone. Not only will he move on quickly, but the people behind him are slowed significantly,' Aizawa analysed.

'THE GROUND ROUTE DIDN'T WORK, SO BAKUGOU TOOK FOR THE SKIES! I LIKE HIS THINKING!' screamed Present Mic, undaunted by Aizawa's deathly glare. Even for a man in a mummy suit, his glare was still as killer as ever.

(Name) looked back to see Todoroki catching up to her quickly. She turned back to the front, her face splitting into a (freaking cute-as-hell) grin when she caught sight of the next hurdle.

'AH-HA! SO THE FIRST OBSTACLE WAS EASY? HOW ABOUT THE SECOND OBSTACLE? IF YOU DON'T WANNA FALL, THEN CRAWL! IT'S 'THE FALL'!'

This course is a bit too fit for my quirk...

(Name) launched herself easily from platform to platform, not minding the threat of falling to her death if she made even one wrong move. This girl loved being in the air so much that heights weren't a problem anymore.

Todoroki froze his way across on the ropes, keeping one eye on his balance and one on the girl in the air in front of him. His goal was to be number one. No one would get in his way. With that train of thought, he sped up to the point where he was neck-and-neck with (Name).

Behind them, more students broke free from the ice and robots, thrashing and clawing at each other to get ahead. (Name)'s ears twitched when a particularly loud boom sounded behind them. Wait. Nah, that was just Bakugou. Slowly catching up and now right behind her. Not that it mattered. She figured that she just needed to get in the top ten. Enough to be noticeable, move to the next round and save maximum stamina.

'OUR PACK LEAD IS NOW ARRIVING AT THE FINAL OBSTACLE: 'THE MINEFIELD'! KEEP YOUR EYES PEELED, PEOPLE! THOSE THINGS MAY NOT BE DAMAGING, BUT THEY CAN YOUR MAKE YOU WET YOUR PANTS!'

Todoroki chose to carefully run through. His drop in speed allowed other competitors time to catch up.

'YOU DECLARED WAR ON THE WRONG PERSON HALF-AND-HALF! I'LL KILL YOUU!' Bakugou was always heard before seen. (Name) winced at the ringing in her ears. He triggered some explosions but didn't seem bothered by them. But of course, he's literally a walking bomb.

(Name) reached the midpoint of the last obstacle, Bakugou screaming and struggling next to her while she relaxed and jumped where she felt the least vibrations. Those mines may be off, but they're not completely still. Each still had movement, and she could use her sharp senses to her advantage.

As she was about to make another jump, she stilled as an unfelt wave of caution ripples through her. Something big was coming, something huge and unexpected, like--

B O O M

She spared a glimpse behind her. Way back in the course, there was a rapidly-growing pink cloud of smoke, most likely from the explosion that rattled the stadium. She could make out Midoriya soaring forward on a piece of metal. From the robots? Very clever.

'WOAH WOAH WOAH! LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, WHERE DID THAT COME FROM? WAS THAT INTENTIONAL OR ON ACCIDENT? MIDORIYA OF CLASS 1-A IS NOW FLYING THROUGH THE AIR AND OVERTAKING HIS COMPETITORS IN A FLASH!!' Present Mic grabbed his microphone and stood up in amazement. 'WHAT ARE YOU TEACHING THESE KIDS, AIZAWA? THEY'RE SO COOOOL!'

Midoriya clung onto the metal for dear life and attempted to put on a smile when he passed by (Name), who shot a small, cute as ever, smile at him. His heart made a louder boom than Kacchan's explosions ever could.

(Name) smiled at me!

She smiled! At me!

I think my heart's gonna...

CRASH INTO THE GROUND WHAT THE--

On a last-minute whim, the green-haired student threw a piece of metal at the space in front of Bakugou and Todoroki, landed on their shoulders, jumped and hoped to whatever god was out there that the reacting explosion would propel him to first place. He landed awkwardly but still got up and ran through the end tunnel.

'AND IN FIRST PLACE IS... CLASS 1-A'S MIDORIYA IZUKU!'

Bakugou came in second, followed closely by Todoroki. (Name) was satisfied with her ranking of fifth. She wasn't tired like the others because she refrained from pushing herself too much in the first event. Save it up, (Name). Your stamina is gonna be needed for something more than just an obstacle course.

'The top 42 competitors get to move on to the second round!' Midnight declared with a hip swerve and a crack of her whip. 'As for the next event, which only I know what it is...'

The screen projected a large set of words:

CALVARY BATTLE

'The points are assigned by your placement in the race. The person who came in 42nd is worth five, 41st is worth ten and so on. However, the person who came in first place is worth...

Ten million points!'
