III

The first day of UA arrived in a flash.

(Name) glomped her brother goodbye, excitedly slipping on her shoes and leaving the house. Wakatoshi chewed his cereal, used to his little sister's bubby antics and overly-affectionate personality. As long as boys kept their filthy hands away, he was as cool as a cucumber.

On second thoughts...

Maybe a few precautions will do.

After all, being too careful never hurts anyone.

Ring. Ring.

'Hello? Who is this again?' came the voice on the other line of the call.

'... Sakusa. Can you do me a little favour?'

.oOOo.

(Name) stood in front of the intimidating building that was Japan's top hero school. UA High School.

I will definitely try my best!

The halls were filled with students chattering, already in friendship groups even though it was only the first day. How do they do that? Make friends?

Can't say I can relate.

The door of Class 1-A was enormous. It was at least five times her height, which wasn't much. She swallowed down her nerves and entered. There were a few people earlier than her, including a blue-haired person with glasses, a multi-coloured hair person, a girl with a ponytail and a person with a bird head.

There were only four people, but she could already see how colourful her class was going to be. As soon as she stepped in, the tallest boy rushed to her, waving his hands rigidly and introducing himself with an outstretched hand. She smiled her signature bunny-smile and introduced herself in return.

'My name is Iida Tenya! It is truly a pleasure to meet you, fellow classmate! Let us have an educational year ahead of us!' he spoke formally. (Name) giggled at his antics and agreed.

'Nice to meet you too, Iida-san.' Oh, no. Iida was charmed. This girl is adorable. Must protect at all costs.

The door behind them opened and in stalked the familiar spiky boy. His hands were in his pockets, with his pants sagging and eyes glaring at everyone in the room. He loudly stomped his way to a seat and plopped down, swinging his legs out to rest on top of his desk.

Immediately, Iida disappeared and reappeared in front of the new person.

'Hey! Please remove your feet from the table! Do you have no manners? This is blatant disrespect to the upperclassmen who have used this desk!' he scolded.

'WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?' Yep. His personality was definitely spiky. Explosive, even.

'My name is Iida Tenya from Somei Private School--'

'HUH?? SO YOU'RE A DAMN ELITE,' The spiky student cut Iida off rudely. 'NO WONDER YOU GOT A STICK UP YOUR ASS. I'M GONNA HAVE FUN CRUSHING YOU!'

'C-Crushing? Excuse me, but are you sure you are fit to be a hero?' asked Iida, sliding his glasses up and letting the light reflect off it.

'I'M GONNA BE NUMBER ONE YOU FUCKING--'

The door slid open and Iida was now interrogating some new guy. Spiky huffed and crossed his arms.

(Name) was weirded out by that interaction. She didn't like loud noises, because her sensitive bunny ears amplified even the faintest of sounds. She usually had it in that curled up position when around groups of people. She let it out in the safety of her house and in battles. She now knew to keep it especially muffled when around Present Mic.

The door slid open again, this time, a yellow bundle rolled in. (Name) didn't deny that her first thought was The Yellow Human Caterpillar. It revealed itself to be a 'he', their teacher, in fact. No one expected their teacher to be so haggard, yet (Name) could recognise him as a person her father used to work with. Erasure Head. Not to judge or anything, but he clearly did not think that title through very well.

'I am Aizawa Shota, your homeroom teacher,' he droned, looking like he had better things to do then. From inside his yellow sleeping bag, he pulled out a folded UA sports uniform. We shall never know how he did so. 'Put these on and meet in outside. We don't have any time to waste.'

.oOOo.

'A quirk assessment test?' the majority of the class chorused magically.

'Yes,' Aizawa-sensei droned on for a bit about how students needed to take this more seriously and declared the person put in the last place expelled. All because some random girl decided to say that the tests will be fun. Now they suffered collectively.

Aizawa-sensei gave the ball to the spiky boy. Bakugou Katsuki, (Name) heard his name was. He threw it dramatically and ended up with an incredible score of 705.2m. Wait, no that was backwards. Bakuboy threw the ball, the girl speaks, teacher threatens. (Name) could never seem to get out of her habit of zoning out then getting everything mixed up.

The demonstration was over and the first test they underwent was the 50m Sprint. The boy who rigidly introduced himself as Iida Tenya before got an impressive score of 3.04 seconds. Everyone else seemed to do fine on this as well, save for the green-haired student who was stuttering at the back. He got an average score of 7.02 seconds. (Name)'s partner was a person who pulled off the sparkly look.

They lined up, (Name) digging her feet into the ground. The blonde sparkly guy turned so that his back was facing the finish line. The whistle blew and her partner shot a beam out of his... bellybutton? No judgement, just observing here.

(Name) curled her ears in and launched herself all the way to the end. Halfway in the air, she unfurled her ears and listened in to determine where her partner was. If she accidentally landed on him from this height, his limbs would definitely get broken. Fortunately, her training had paid off since she had timed it perfectly, landing just past the line. No injuries, perfectly clean landing. Aizawa noted this down quickly.

The grip strength test (Name) did averagely. She had weak physical upper-body strength because her quirk focused more on her legs and feet.

Standing Long Jump was practically made for her, everyone in the class knew. As far as they've understood, the adorable bunny girl's quirk revolved around jumping, which made sense.

The final test was the ball throw. (Name) began to tune out on the world again, wondering what she should make for dinner. What healthy combo would be delicious and suitable for Toshi-nii?

'(Last Name), you're the last one,' her teacher cut through her lengthening train of thoughts and threw her the ball. 'Anything is fine as long as you stay inside the circle. Make this quick.'

'Yes sir,' she nodded and took a deep breath in. This test wasn't the most suitable for her, but she found a way around her weak upper body. She stomped down on the ground while simultaneously releasing the ball in the air. (Name) did not pay attention to her classmates around her who trembled at the sudden pressure. The shockwave of that stomp was vast and powerful enough to propel the ball much further. She was satisfied with her score of 482m.

.oOOo.

Afterwards, their teacher noted down all their scores and sorted them into a ranking. (Name) found her spot at third, which surprised her. Right underneath was Bakugou, who looked ready to kill. Someone called Todoroki Shoto was above her, in second place. It might be that silent guy at the back with the half-and-half hair. (Name) openly stared at him, not minding that he caught her stare. All she could think of was how pretty his eyes were. She'd never encountered anyone with heterochromia before.

Todoroki, on the other hand, was slightly uncomfortable with the stare his classmate gave him. And the fact that she didn't hide it or shy away when he saw her stare made the feeling stronger. Actually, he wasn't uncomfortable because of her stare. He was uncomfortable with the fact that he had no idea why she was staring. Aside from being the son of that flaming trash can and being in second place in the quirk assessment test, he found nothing relatively interesting about him. Nothing enough to stimulate such an intense stare.

After that entire paragraph, Todoroki finally looked away. (Name) was broken out of her trance when someone nudged her. The infinity girl with brown hair.

'Hey! I saw how you did in those tests. You were awesome!'

And adorable!

But she didn't voice out her last thought. 'Congrats on third place!'

(Name) smiled that gorgeous smile that everyone falls for, 'Thanks! I think you did really well too, especially on the ball throw.'

Uraraka could feel her heart clenching at the smile directed at her. This girl is so cute. She must be protected at all costs. Unknowingly, she and Iida shared the same morals to shield this angel from the cruelty that was the world.

'My name is Uraraka Ochako, nice to meet you!'

'I'm Usaginami (First Name). The pleasure's mine. Although, your friend seems to be in a bit of pain there,' (Name) replied, gesturing over to the green-haired boy who was cradling his purple finger. It wasn't just broken, but bruised and loose, as if all the bones in it were completely shattered.

How could a quirk still cause such severe drawbacks at this age? It should have matured already because he should have gotten it at the age of four and mastered it enough to use it without too much harm done to his body.

Hm. Odd.

This has actually gotten her attention. It was truly odd and something didn't feel right about it. Now, (Name) may be too aloof and somewhat airheaded a lot of the time, but she could switch in the blink of an eye. This case was minor, so much that no one seems to notice or care too much about. Well, except Bakugou. He was still pissed when he found out the green-haired boy wasn't expelled.

And with what Bakugou said earlier about how that student was supposedly quirkless. They seemed to know each other well, even if not on the best terms. If so, then they had a high chance of coming into contact recently and regularly. Maybe schoolmates.

This also meant that they knew each other's quirks or lack thereof in Bakugou's perspective.

If Bakugou, who knew that bushy kid for a while much longer than us, is surprised with his quirk, then he must have not known, been lied to, or the quirk itself developed recently.

Bushy here doesn't look like the manipulative scheming type. What reason does he have to lie? Bakugou surely knew his childhood friend's quirk. If Green didn't tell him, then Orange would have found out somehow. It's not normal for people to hide their abilities. They would have to use it in front of other people at some point. But Bakugou is surprised? Hm. Sus, indeed.

Yes, (Name) could switch to be a Sherlock Holmes in a blink.

'-- (Name)? Hey, (Name), are you there?' Uraraka waved her hand in front of (Name)'s face, relaxing when she saw her blink out of her thoughts. (Name) finally turned to her new friend and tilted her head cutely to the side in befuddlement. Uraraka fangirled on the inside, cooing at how pure (Name) was. If she kept being this cute all the time, Uraraka was sure everyone would fall for her. She could feel herself begin to simp, in a friendly way of course. No homo here hobos.

'Sorry, I was lost in thought for a second there,' said (Name), sheepishly smiling and looking up at her friend from under her long-ass eyelashes. 'Could you repeat that, please?'

Too kawaii!

'A-Ah, I was just asking if you wanna walk to the train station with me,' grinned Uraraka.

'Sure, I'd love to.'

(Name) took a final glance at Bakugou, then Green. There was something definitely fishy going on here, and she needed to investigate more into it.

.oOOo.

The walk to the train station with Uraraka was pleasant. Until she ditched (Name) in a sprint to catch up with Iida. Green was there as well, a stuttering mess from talking to Uraraka. He seems like the nervous kid who doesn't talk to people often.

'Hey, wait for me,' huffed (Name), placing her hands on her hips and pouting at Uraraka. The infinity girl laughed guiltily and her heart cried from making her friend sad. All was forgiven though. 'Hi, I'm Usaginami (First Name). You are... ?'

'M-Midoriya Izuku. UHM, I-IT'S A VERY PLEASURE TO NICE YOU!'

Wait... What??? No, no, no, no. I stuttered again! And in front of such a pretty girl! I'm so embarrassed! Just let me die already...

Midoriya yelped when he realised what he said and covered his reddening face with his hands. His embarrassed blush spread from his ears to his cheeks to his neck. He was glowing red. Impossible, but possible.

Iida was the first to speak, weirded out slightly by the odd sentence. ''It's a very pleasure to nice you?' Midoriya, are you okay?'

(Name) cut in before Midoriya could say anything else that could dig his grave even deeper.

'It's okay, Iida. I'm sure he was just flustered,' (Name) said, clearly not realising how blunt her words were. Midoriya died more. 'Sorry for scaring you, Izuku.'

Izuku?!

'Wait, can I call you Izuku? I mean, you don't have to agree if you don't want to. I mean...' rambled (Name). Now it was her turn to get flustered. Midoriya watched in awe as her cheeks slowly bloomed with pink. It was adorable. She was adorable. Her anxious face was so adorable, it managed to calm him down. Backwards, just like the Copernican Revolution.

'Uhm... I wouldn't mind i-if you called me I-Izuku...'

'Really? Then you can call me (First Name)!' she beamed excitedly. Midoriya nervously chuckled and nodded. This was a big step for him, but he weirdly didn't mind it if he took it for her. Okay, he smacked himself at that thought.

Iida and Uraraka watched as two cinnamon rolls slowly got closer. Their smiles were too bright. Uraraka thanked Iida for handing her some spare sunglasses to shield her eyes from the brilliance of the sight. She wondered where he got it from. It seemed as if he had emergency stuff in his pockets at all times. Huh.

'I love All Might too! Although my all-time favourite hero will have to be One Punch.'

'The retired hero? He was powerful, but received so much hate from the media because of his looks,' Midoriya began mumbling his thoughts out loud. Luckily, he snapped out of it quickly and added, 'B-But he really was cool.'

'Mhm!' (Name) agreed happily. 'Especially that one time when he destroyed that meteor and--'

'Okay, that should be enough,' interrupted Iida.

'We're gonna miss the train at this rate!' Uraraka chimed in.

'A-AH! R-RIGHT!'

'Then let's get going.'

And thus, (Name)'s first day at UA ended.

.oOOo.
