TAKE XIX.

    “So, don’t forget about your exams coming in two weeks.”

    I quickly looked at the teacher in front, eyes wide. I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT EXAMS!!!! SHIT!

    “Hm and Akihiko-san,” suddenly the teacher called my name.

    “Yes?”

    All eyes centered on me.

    “If you ever have problems with Japanese, feel free to ask anyone to help you, okay? Since you’re from Australia, I thought you’d have some problems with Japanese Literature.” She said.

    “Ah, I’ll take care of it, Sensei. No worries.” I nodded my head.

    “Good.”

    “Hngh!!!!” I whined, rolling on the soft, green grass of the soccer field.

    “Heichou you seem troubled, what’s the matter?” Yuta asked, crouching beside me.

    I pouted. “I forgot about exams.”

    He chuckled. “Still have two weeks, Heichou, no worries.”

    I sighed. “And the Inter-High….”

    “We’ll practice hard, Heichou.”

    “I hope you do.”

    Despite Yuta being a senior, he’s friendly and easy to talk with. He’s humble and respects others. “Here, let’s practice.” He smiled and held out his hand to me. I reached for it and stood, putting my arm around his shoulders then walked to the others.

The ball went in the basket perfectly and Akashi stuffed it back into the container. “Sei-chan, another one!” Reo smiled and threw a ball at him. Akashi caught it with one hand and put it in.

    “Hm, exams are coming and Inter-High too.” Kotarou sighed.

    “You’re such a smarty what do you have to worry?” Eikichi said, nudging him on the shoulder.

    “WHERE IS AKASHI SEIJUUROU!!?!” suddenly a girl’s voice echoed in the court. All eyes turned to the source of the voice.

    “Kazu-chan?” Reo frowned.

    She stormed past Reo and went straight to Akashi. “I plead your allegiance!” she said sternly.

    “Allegiance?” Kotarou echoed her last word.

    “I need you to teach me Japanese Literature.” She said.

    “No.” Akashi answered shortly and walked away. She gritted her teeth and pulled his sleeve.

    “Please?”

    “Wasn’t my answer clear enough?”

    “Why not?”

    “I am busy. I have lots of work to do than settling you stubborn girl.” He stated and exited the court. Kazuto sighed and went home.

    The next day, Akashi was having a meeting with the student council members when Kazuto barged in, once again. After a few arguments and scolding from Akashi right on the spot, he finally agreed to tutor her in the library after school, two hours a day.

-Q.Q-

    AT LAST HE GAVE IN! He’s gonna tutor me yeay! I don’t need to go to extra classes yeay! So today, will be my first day learning with him. When I reached the library, he was already waiting. I sat in front of him and we started the lesson.

….

    “You have to understand the meaning of this line, Iroha poem often comes out in exam.” He said and pointed to that certain line. I underlined it with a red pen so I’d remember it.

    “Wait but I don’t understand what this poet meant by “I shall be free of fleeting dreams, nor shall I be fuddled”.” I questioned.

    “Be fuddled from the pleasures of the world. Meaning she won’t get involved with those kind of things.” He explained.

    “Oh….”

    “Alright, time’s up. Now go home and memorize the meaning of that poem. I’ll ask you tomorrow. Dismiss.” He said and we tidied our stuffs. He walked me to the bakery (oh such a gentleman) before going back home.

    “The theme of the poem is, to encourage people to…. Uh…. Um love nature…. And to, um, make people realize that, um, uh, um…. I CAN’T REMEMBER!!!!”

    I dropped my head onto the table and comically cried. Akashi exhaled sharply. “Try again.” He said.

    “I can’t do this anymore, no~”

    “If you don’t strive, I’ll make the principal to suspend you from Inter-High.”

    I quickly lifted my head and looked at him. “The theme of the poem is to encourage people to love nature and make the public realize the importance of our mother nature.” I stated.

    He nodded once. “There you can do it.”

    “Don’t you ever dare suspend the soccer team from Inter-High.” I warned.

    “State three reasons why the persona feels sad in the third stanza.” He questioned.

    “The persona is sad because of humans’ habit of destroying the nature, because the global warming is increasing and harming human beings in the Earth and also because of the ignorant people who don’t care about their surrounding.” I answered.

    He nodded in satisfaction. “Good,” he said and handed me a piece of paper. “Complete this before I come back. I’m going for a 25-minutes meeting with the student council members.” He stood from his seat.

    “Hm, meeting again? Fine then, go now.” I whined. Since the last few days he’s having a meeting and ended up leaving me in the library alone. It’s so quiet and lonely—

The hell…. What was that feeling just now? Loneliness? What….?

    “Finish it.” He ordered.

    I nodded and he went out. I stared at the paper he gave me and scowled when I saw the first question.

“So, it’s decided. Each class will have to participate in the school festival. Until here, please do your best to decorate the school compound and hall. But first, concentrate on the exams coming.” Akashi announced and left the meeting room.

    Its late evening and he wondered if Kazuto had finished the work he gave earlier. As he walked through the corridor, thunders roared outside and the sound of fat droplets of rain colliding with any surface it could was heard and eventually, it grew heavier.

    He stopped by his room to check on Snowy and managed to put him in the cage with a few supplies of food. Then he proceeded to the library. When he reached there, Kazuto wasn’t on her seat. He frowned and approached. The work he gave was completely done and just by the first look, he could see some mistakes but overall, it was decent. His eyes trailed off the paper and looked over his shoulder.

    There, on the couch provided, laid the peacefully sleeping Kazuto. He put down the paper and went to her, kneeling beside and stared at her face. It looked so innocent.

    “Ngh….” She mumbled and her hand moved. “Kazu-nii….”

    Akashi blinked. She must be dreaming of her brother, Akihiko Kazuki. That’s when she unconsciously grabbed his shirt and pulled him close. Akashi fell silent as she hugged him by the neck and their faces were just inches.

    “Kazuto, wake up.” He spoke.

    “..Mhm…. cho…co..late…. Aka.. shi….a…. je..rk….”

    Akashi narrowed his eyes and pinched her nose. Within few seconds, her eyes sprang open and widened at the sight of Akashi being so close to her. As predicted by Akashi, she screamed her head off and pushed him hard. She immediately sat up, looking around.

    “Wh-what were you….” Her voice trailed off as she panted.

    He smirked. “You were the one who pulled me.”

    She blushed. “I-I thought it was S-snowy!”

    “Anyway, keep your things, I’ll send you home since it’s raining.” He said.

    Kazuto chuckled and kept her stuffs. “You seemed like a gentleman these days.”

    “Is that wrong?”

    “No, it’s just unusual.”

    I followed him out of the library and waited within the school compound for his driver. Usually, I’d reject his offer but this time, I didn’t because I knew well than to refuse and get drenched.

    A sudden thought hit me. “Akashi,” I called out.

    “Hm?”

    “I’ve never heard you sing before. I wonder if your voice is beautiful since you said you can do everything.” I said and inserted the sarcasm on my last word.

    “I don’t sing.”

    “But you said you can do everything.”

    “Shall I sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars for you?” he questioned.

    I clicked my tongue in annoyance and glared at him. “Sing something else!” I demanded.

    “….Ikusen mono kosasuru michi de, bokura ga deaeta, massugu na manazashi de, mirai wo, kizuiteta, nani ga okotte mo, tomo ni arukeba…. Nandai mono yuki de, michi afure, norikoe rareru….”

    It felt like something is lifted off me. His voice so melodic it softened my heart, mind and soul. Unconsciously, I followed the singing.

    “Aka ni somatta yuuhi ni, chikatta kotoba wa, sepia no tsuki ni, suikomarete yuku, haruka musunda, atsui kizuna, douka towa ni…. Tsuzukimasu you ni.”

    I squealed when we ended the singing in the perfect octave. “OHMYGOD YOU SHOULD BE A SINGER ONE DAY, YOUR VOICE IS JUST LIKE KAJI YUKI!” I told him and slapped his arm.

    “Told you I can do anything.” He said.

    I grinned at him. “Bragging.”

    “It’s the fact.”

[A/N: YESH BAD ENDING I KNOW BECAUSE I ABSOLUTELY HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO MAKE IT LOVELY AND SORRY FOR THE OOC-NESS OF AKASHI IN THE LAST FEW SCENES. I CAN’T HELP BUT IMAGINE IF AKASHI SINGS. IT’S A FANFICTION SO WHAT DO YOU EXPECT? Anyway, I’m sorry for the crappy ness in this chapter because finals are coming and I’m busy with lots of things to study and what not.
