... and A Promise
"Citizens of the planet Earth, my name is Hugo Mechael Avalstone. The first son of Eric and Karen Avalstone, the co-founders of Aval-Tech."
Well, they didn't think he'd mention that.
"The reason I'm appearing before you now, so many years after Aval-Tech's bankruptcy, is to relay to you, commoners, citizens, ministers, presidents, and royals alike, my own message. That video of my sister that you've just watched, it was never meant to be shared to anyone unless something happened to her. Right now, I am under the impression that getting kidnapped by the World Sabers counts as 'something'."
It definitely does.
"Although, right now, world peace seemed to be quite a far-off goal. I like to assume that everyone, children and adults alike, knows what state the world is in right now. Chaos. The World Sabers are the prime cause of this. There was the Kamui Island Incident last year, and the many, many cases this year."
Pictures from all the recent events appeared. They could clearly see the ruined buildings, debris covered streets, and all the hurt people in each and every single one of them.
"They've destroyed and attacked hundreds of facilities, public and private. More importantly, they've kidnapped people, turning them into experiments and soldiers against their will. For the past few months, Eva and I have been working out ways to counter them. The World Sabers have taken everything from us. We don't want anyone else to suffer that loss."
The children turned to each other. What's that supposed to mean? But before they could ask, the answer came immediately afterwards.
"You may be asking, 'Hugo, is this a revenge mission?' Seeing as how their people killed my parents and is now trying to use my sister as their weapon, I'd be lying if I said no."
Their eyes widened. They didn't know that.
"But this is bigger than that. This is about the children, your blood, your brothers, your sisters, and your friends, who were taken away from you. This is about the people who are dear to us. This is about bringing them home."
His image was once again replaced, this time by the blueprint of the World Saber's underwater facility.
"Today, we Seekers will be launching a full assault on their primary base. It is located in the south coast, on the sea bed in the center of the Devil's Sea. Our priority is to free the children. Taking down the base is right below it."
It was the adults' turn to be surprised. Takuya moved to pull him away, but Mizel gave him a look that stopped him.
"To the children that are currently stuck inside any of the World Sabers' facilities, whether it's a lab or a base, I have only this to say: FIGHT. You may be children, but all of you together outnumber the adults. You have special abilities and a certain nimbleness that won't allow you to lose to them. And if there are any adults who are also under the World Sabers against their own will, show your support to the children. Be their shield and comfort. The same goes for the parents, teachers, and relatives who had lost someone important to the World Sabers. Do not lose hope. When your children get home, welcome them with love and warmth. And I promise you, they will get home."
His eyes met with all others in the room. They gave him a nod.
"Once again, my name is Hugo Mechael Avalstone, and I will not let this Earth that my sister loves so much fall into the wrong hands."
The screen went dark before returning to normal. Everyone was silent, simply eyeing each other because no one knew what to say.
Eventually, it was Hugo that began, letting out a sigh before turning to another monitor. "Prime Minister Zaizen, President Lenneton, how are the other world leaders reacting now?" Both politicians shared a glance through the screens. They excused themselves to check on the situation in the world conference voice chat.
"Hugo..." The blonde turned to a brunette man he hadn't seen in a while. "You're... alive?"
He couldn't help a wry smile. "It's quite the deja vu, isn't it, professor?" The scientist across the screen could only nod. He then turned to the other scientist. "Professor Oozora too. Sorry to keep scaring you like that."
"D-Don't worry about it..." Though she says this, her expression was very clearly stiff.
"So this means we're not keeping this a secret anymore?" Kirito piped up.
Niara looked up at that. "Oh yeah. What's the point of the secrecy anyway? You never spent any time outside here or the labs, so I doubt anyone could find you."
"You can never be too careful." Jin replied. "Any one of those names in Eva's list could be keeping an eye on us and we'd never even knew it."
"You three knew-" Kazu stopped himself short. "... Of course you did. You guys found him."
"So that means Muraku, Hana, and Nikolai knew too." The three mentioned were doing their best to ignore Vanessa's deadpan.
"Kousuke too, I'm assuming." The blonde in the screen only shrugged at Ami's words.
"That aside, I guess we should-"
"Everyone." Prime Minister Zaizen's face was back on the main screen. "Please check how many carriers and ships are on the way."
Takuya gave a nod and his subordinates got straight to work. When the numbers showed up on screen, no one could hold their surprise.
"That's way more than what we need!"
"There's no way they're all coming here!"
"Will the docks even fit...?"
"And as usual, Hugo-san was right." Ami chuckled. "All the world leaders really did came to help."
"It's only natural after an announcement like that." He smiled. "When the proof of injustice is laid bare for the world to see, no human being with a heart would be able to sit still. I'm sure the World Sabers wanted to appeal to them again like they did the year before, but now that we've done it first, they can't. People will view them as terrorists and nothing more."
"And sending that sort of message yourself would hopefully open the eyes of the children within the bases, considering there are still more active aside the one we're targeting."
"Precisely. Although..." He turned to a certain duo. "Itan and Rain both checked. All the bases aside this one had been abandoned, so all these extra ships would be a huge help."
"Then I suppose there isn't much else left to discuss." Takuya gave a nod before turning to the rest. "Begin preparations! We'll depart in one hour!"
