Chapter 2: Stalled

My eyes slowly fluttered open to see Jake staring at me, a cute little smile on his face. "Good morning, beautiful." He whispered, placing a gentle kiss on my forehead.

"Hey." I replied softly, rolling onto my side so I could face him. My hand reached out from under the blankets and went to the back of his head so I could run my hand through his hair.

Jacob's hand slipped around my body and pulled me across the bed, so my body rested against his hot one. I felt his hand trail down my back to my ass, he gave it a squeeze before his hand travelled further south and rested just below my bum cheek.

I raised my eyebrows as he smirked at his own wandering hands. "What do you want for breakfast, baby?" I asked him, ready to get out of bed and start the day.

The baby Luna celebrations had calmed down, she was now exactly two weeks old, and normalcy had settled around the tribe/pack again. Today was a Friday, and over the years a new tradition had begun between the Cullens and Jake and me. Every Friday, we would go the Cullens' for lunch — not that they ate — Esme would cook and try as many new recipes on us as she could.

Jacob's fingers made me jump out of my thoughts as they suddenly disappeared between my legs. "This." He whispered as his fingers danced over my clit.

My breath caught in my throat as I blinked at him with surprise. I felt my cheeks flush as I stared at him. "Oh." I breathed out.

He shifted slightly so he could grasp the backs of my thighs to pull me up his body. I sat up, my naked body now straddled against his stomach as the blanket pooled around my waist. "Turn around." He smirked, giving my ass a sweet squeeze.

"What?" I asked slightly confused but his smirk only widened into a grin.

He moved my legs to one side, helping me spin around only to come face to face with his long, hard length. It was my turn to smirk as I leant forward and licked over his tip, and I giggled when he twitched and moaned. In response he hastily slipped his hands beneath my thighs and dragged my hips backwards in his direction, making me squeal and slightly lose my balance... and then I felt his tongue run tormentingly slow over my clit.

"Jake." I moaned; my arms went weak causing me to almost collapse on top of him as he pressed his tongue a little harder against me.

Wanting to give him pleasure too, I leant forward again and ran my tongue down his length before gripping him tightly in my hand. I was smiled when he groaned into me. "Do it again." He ordered before placing his mouth back against me.

I repeated what I had done before, and then I took him fully into my mouth. "Fuck, Blue." He growled before plunging his tongue into my hole.

My back arched, causing me to press my body against his torso. I ground myself against his lips as I slid his length further down my throat. He moaned into my pussy, and it sent glorious vibrations through me, and then be sucked my clit between his lips. "Jacob!" I gasped breathlessly as he sucked a little harder, all the while flicking his tongue against me relentlessly.

I writhed above him as the familiar butterflies began to whirl around inside my stomach. I slipped his cock back into my mouth and sucked a little harder as I moaned around him, coming close to my climax. He began to flick his tongue so fast I lost concentration on what I was doing and let that blissful feeling take over me. I screamed his name — thankfully we had the house to ourselves — as I let wave upon wave of ecstasy wash over me.

He placed one last kiss against me, his hands running over my ass as I tried to catch my breath. Jake lifted me, turning my body so I was facing him again, straddling his lower stomach. He watched me as I braced myself against him, my hands on his chest. "I swear you taste better each time I do that." He said smirking, running his tongue over his already wet lips.

The blush crawled up my neck and over my cheeks, I could feel the heat of it. "Jake, stop!" I complained, shoving his shoulder back into the bed lightly. He began to chuckle to himself, but I knew one way to stop him laughing at me.

I sat up so I was kneeling over him and grasped his cock in my hand and moved myself, so I was hovering over his hips. As soon as my hand touched his length he stopped laughing and his hands went up to grab my hips. I slowly lowered myself down onto him, both of us groaning as he filled me completely.

He ran his hot hands up my thighs and up to waist as I began to circle my hips against him. "So fucking perfect." He breathed out, reaching a hand up and running his thumb over my nipple before pinching it. I clenched around him, grinding myself down a little harder. "Fuck!"

I leant down and pressed my lips against his as I rolled my hips back and forth. As my lips parted to accept his tongue, he gripped my hips tightly and lifted me slowly, before forcing me back down over him again. "Oh, shit." The words tumbled out of my mouth in a breathless, needy whisper. He repeated the action again, but this time he tilted my hips back a little, so that my clit rubbed against his length on the way down. "Jake!" I couldn't help my cries now. It just felt so damn good.

I looked down at his smirking face and bit my lip to hold in my cries of pleasure. "No, Ari, I wanna hear you." He reached up, his thumb touching my lip to pull it away from where I had it caught. He pulled me down to him, catching my lips in a kiss as he rolled us over so my head hit the pillows. "I love you so much."

I held his face in my hands, staring into his beautiful dark eyes. "I love you too." A brief sweet smile crossed his lips as his hands reached towards my face to cup my cheek, letting his thumb caress the skin there. He leaned forward, capturing my lips in a hungry kiss as he began to slowly thrust himself into me.

His pace increased as he pushed himself up onto his hands, moving deeper inside of me as he groaned. "More." I panted into his neck, wrapping my arms around his neck.

He went harder, my hands slipped down to grasp his biceps, my nails digging into his skin, and my legs wrapped tightly around his waist holding his body to me. "So good." He groaned through gritted teeth, now pounding into me relentlessly. He tipped his head down and sucked my nipple into his mouth as he continued to move.

"What are you doing to me?" I cried, mostly to myself, as the feeling of cumming was building up in the pit of my stomach again.

"Making you cum." He answered me, the teasing hint to his voice driving me insane. He kept on thrusting in and out of me, his cock grazing my clit every time, the tip gliding over my g-spot over and over again.

Then I was there again, clenching around him as I reached my high. I held him closer, our bodies pressed together as I let the overwhelming sensation take over me again. "Jake, I—"

"I know, baby, me too." He purred into my ear. He slipped his hand under my waist, lifting my hips off of the bed so he could start hitting a new angle.

That sent me into overdrive.

He kept his movements up until I felt the heat of his own release fill me. As he finished his thrusts slowed, his lips peppering kisses over my neck, chest and shoulders. Our breaths mingled together as we tried to catch our breath. "Well, I couldn't ask for a better thing to wake up to." I stated with a fulfilled smile plastered over my face.

"When we get a house baby, I'll wake you up like that every morning if you want." He offered, then pressed his lips to mine in a sweet kiss, before rolling back over onto his side of the bed and folded his arms behind his head seemingly satisfied with himself.

"There's nothing I'd want more." I teased before readying myself to make a run for it to the bathroom. I had finally convinced Jake that condoms were pointless. When nothing came of our unprotected sex before the Volturi arrived it was clear nothing ever would, so finally last year I convinced Jacob there was no point. It felt like he was giving us false hope and now the few months of unprotected sex proved that nothing would ever happen. "I'm going to shower." I tried not to, but my smile appeared false and before Jake could comment I blurred into my bathroom and closed the door.

A few deep breaths were all that I needed, and then I would be fine. At least he mentioned moving in together, I thought he had completely forgotten about us even planning to do that. It gave me a little hope we would get out of this frozen rut once and for all.

* * *

Noon was soon upon us, and we knew that we had to get a move on to reach the Cullens' in time. The sky was unusually clear, and the sun brought a cool warmth to it that was slightly not enough to warm your skin.

"Do you ever miss it?" Jacob asked, breaking our silence as we approached the loud gurgling of the river ahead.

"Miss what?" I asked curiously, looking from his face and back to the river to watch a small lump of ice float along the waves and towards the sea. I guess the mountains were still getting snow.

"Being on edge, having to always be ready for a fight." He explained, a hint of excitement in his tone. My head snapped back at him, and I looked at him incredulously.

"Jake, are you bored?" I didn't know if I should be offended or not.

"A little, yeah." He said honestly, finishing with a light chuckle. My face contorted into an expression that definitely showed I was offended. "Wait, I didn't mean it in a bad way. I'm not bored with our life, not at all, I think it's perfect." He paused to bring our joint hands up to his lips to kiss the back of my palm. "I just miss the action, you know?"

Well, that surprised me...

I stupidly blinked at him. "Oh." Two things he said hit me by surprise then. He thought things were perfect the way they were... he liked being stalled in life like this. Great.

"Ari?" Jake caught my attention back to him as he stopped walking.

"Oh yeah, sorry, I was just thinking it has been a while since I had thrown someone across a field." I forced a smile and laugh, though I admit, I had missed being fierce. Emmett was my only physical opponent now, and that was occurring less and less. He was finally tired of being beaten.

"I have to say, it used to scare me, you being so powerful. But in the end, I found it so incredibly sexy." Jake smirked and spun me quickly into his body, my back colliding with his chest.

"Jake." I complained, rolling my eyes but this time a real smile played on my lips.

Jake gripped my hips in his big palms and held my hips back against his own as he ground them into my ass. "Yeah, baby?" He whispered huskily into my ear, his voice sending shivers down my body.

"Come on, we can't. We have to meet Esme." I tried to step away from him, but he held me in place.

"We'll only be a little late." He began, then let his lips travel south to place open-mouthed kisses against my neck and shoulder.

"They'll know why we're late." I pressed, though I could feel myself giving in.

"Come on, Blue." He breathed, his fingers travelling lower past my hips to gather up the material of my skirt.

I spun around and jumped up into his arms at vampire speed, he was surprised for a brief second but quickly recovered as the wanting heat took over in his eyes. "Fine, but we have to be quick."

* * *

Approaching the house, I ensured my shield was wrapped tightly around Jake and myself. There would be no teasing today. Poor little Renesmee had already been exposed to too much thanks to Emmett's big mouth.

"Better late than never!" Emmett called from the porch as we came into view after moving out from the blanket of shade the trees provided.

"Sorry, we slept in." I couldn't think of a better excuse as he enveloped me in a bear hug. To be honest my mind was on other things... like changing my underwear.

"Yeah, right." Emmett grinned annoyingly. Couldn't he mind his own business for once?

"I'm telling the truth." I lied as he clapped hands with Jake and did their usual shoulder bumping hug.

"You alright, man?" Emmett greeted Jake before turning to me, disbelief on his face. "I don't believe you."

"She's hiding something, Emmett!" Edward called from upstairs, stirring the pot further. "I can't read Jacob's mind."

I didn't know if it was due to us sharing the same gift, or that we were related, but I felt the air shift as Bella wrapped her shield around Edward. "And now you can't read anyone's mind." I could picture her smirk and then smiled triumphantly.

"Thanks, Bells." I called back into the house as I looked from Emmett's grumpy yet bored face and then to Jake's amused one.

Jacob moved past Emmett to take my hand and lead me into the house. "You guys are all so boring." Emmett muttered under his breath as he stomped in after us.

The main floor of the house had all of the family waiting in it, with Esme and Bella behind the stove cooking. The food smelt spicy, and my stomach growled in anticipation. "Hey everyone." I greeted, releasing Jake's hand to go around and hug everyone.

They returned their hellos and then I snuck away to change my underwear into a fresh clean pair. That was the only thing I hated about spontaneous sex, the clean up afterwards. I got back to the family just as dinner was being served for Jake, Seth, Renesmee and me.

"So, what's new with you guys?" Alice asked as I took my seat beside Jacob.

"Nothing." I said quickly trying to keep the irritation out of my voice. "Only the remaining buzz baby Luna brought."

"I still love that name." Esme sighed happily as she brought over the starter dishes; loaded nachos with all the dips and cheesy beef empanadas. "I'm trying Mexican tonight." She placed her hands on her hips and smiled with pride.

"Great." Jacob and Seth said in union, grinning widely at the food.

"Alright go ahead." Esme babbled before heading back to the kitchen to dispose of her apron.

Renesmee and I knew to let the guys grab their food first. We sat in our usual silence as the boys took about three quarters of the huge dishes between them, only leaving Renesmee and I a quarter to divide between the two of us. "Pigs." She grumbled as I plated up my share of the food before handing her the dish.

"They are." My wonderful vampire family said in unison, leading to all of us to burst out into laughter except for Jake and Seth.

In our peaceful time since the Volturi's visit, the Cullen children had enrolled themselves into college and had since taken on "jobs" around town and in Seattle. Only Alice and Jasper actually went to college, to the University of Washington, whereas the rest of us took online courses.

Alice studied dance, and Jasper took on anthropology. Alice somehow manoeuvred them both into their courses a semester late and they had graduated last year. Now they both pretended to have jobs in their respected fields, like the rest of my family, though I'm sure their stories changed each time.

Bella took an online course in English literature, Edward in art history, Rosalie in astrology and, to my surprise, Emmett enrolled himself in Native American history. He wanted to learn more about our culture and the cultures of other tribes that lived or used to live in the area. My adoptive siblings all took accelerated courses, opposed to me, I wanted to be as normal as possible.

When they weren't studying, family members would branch off and go travelling for weeks on end. Carlisle and Esme just got back from a month-long trip to Isle Esme, it was safe to say that was a very romantic trip.

"So, Bella, I heard your mother called?" Carlisle asked, changing the topic regretfully to one that needed to be discussed.

Aunt Renée had visited twice in the last five years, once for thanksgiving and once over Easter. Both times Renesmee had been hidden at Seth's house in La Push, her bedroom torn apart to not give anything away to Renée. Renesmee would only most likely be introduced when she was practically done growing.

"Yeah, she wants to visit again and this time with Aunt Lily." Bella informed the group, and I almost chocked on a nacho.

"What? She hasn't mentioned anything to me." I spluttered as Jake rubbed my back soothingly.

We had a deal with our mother, we would alternate Christmases and spend thanksgiving with her most of the time since in La Push we didn't really celebrate like she does. But now that she had a boyfriend, plus being the new senior partner at her work, she hardly had any time for us. It sucked but it made everything easier with our secrets.

"Aunt Lily apparently wants to introduce Scott to everyone, she wants Mom and Phil there as moral support." Bella said unenthusiastically. We hadn't met Scott, and from the way Mom described him he didn't seem all that great.

"Did she say when they were coming?" Esme asked, glancing worriedly at Nessie who was tucking into an empanada.

"No, not yet. Phil and Aunt Lily need to sort out taking time off of work." Bella explained and then looked to Alice expectantly.

"I'll keep a watch on them, we'll have enough time to prepare, don't worry." Alice smiled reassuringly as she seemed to search her mind on any clues, but she came back blank.

"Looks like you get to spent time at the Clearwaters' again Ness." Seth pointed out as he began to notice Renesmee's distressed expression, she felt like she was a burden at times and disrupted Bella's relationship with her mother.

"No Renesmee, that's ultimately my fault." Edward said sullenly, placing a comforting hand over Nessie's smaller one.

"Oh, hush up, the both of you." I began trying to keep the harshness out of my tone. "It's no one's fault, it's just how it is."

Ignoring the questioning glances, Esme removed herself from the table and went to get our main course ready. Rosalie was the one to change the subject. "So how are the Uley's coping with three kids?" Rosalie had softened towards the wolves considerably. On my twenty-first birthday, Emily asked Rose to hold five-month-old Elliot, and it caused Rose to melt. Babies were the way to her heart.

"Apparently Luna is their easiest baby yet." Jacob began matter of factly as Esme returned with the main course: enchiladas.

"That's because she's a girl." Rose said smugly, flicking her blonde hair over her shoulder.

"She's a lot easier going than her brothers." Jake went on. "Not as fussy." He became momentarily distracted by the second lot of cheesy goodness Esme served us. He took a mouthful before continuing. "But I think Rose is right, she gets more attention because she's a girl, gets everything she wants."

"She's gorgeous too, look." I fished my iPhone 4 out of my back pocket and slid it across the table.

Rosalie was quick to snatch it up and glue her eyes to the picture. Bella, Esme and Alice sped out of their seats to have a look at the latest picture of Luna. "Wow, spitting image of Emily." Bella pointed out happily.

"Thank god." Rose jeered, sliding the phone back over to me. Sam's features were a bit to angular and rough for a little girl I had to admit.

Our lunch finished shortly after and as if in cue a loud grumble thundered through the forest. "Yes! Just like I planned!" Alice cheered jumping up out of her seat.

"In time for what?" Jake asked, leaning back in his chair to take a look at the darkening sky. The blue had turned a light grey in the looming cloud's haze, the wave of dark purple was rolling in over the mountains.

"Baseball. I assume." I guessed and was then made certain by Alice's thoughts.

I had only managed to play baseball a few times with the family. Usually, rain came before the thunder so we would very rarely get the chance to play.

"Baseball?" Jake asked incredulously.

"You haven't told them?" Emmett asked, standing from his seat at the table.

"Was there really a need to?" I asked. "Besides they couldn't play anyway." I stated, knowing full well I was being a tease, but there was an honest point I was making. Jake and Seth weren't fast enough in human form.

"Why not?" Seth asked, hurt at being left out.

"You're useless in human form." Rosalie said nonchalantly, only giving him a brief glance.

"Excuse me?" Jacob asked, standing too. He was only playing the game with her. "Wanna test that theory?" Jake countered, trying to big himself up.

"Jacob," Jasper began, addressing him formally. "You haven't seen how we play; it'll be impossible to keep up."

I snickered to myself as Jacob's face folded into a challenging expression. The thunder booming in the background went hand in hand with Jake's enthusiasm.

"How about we show them how we play, and then if they still feel up to it, we'll give them a shot." Carlisle suggested, even he had a knowing smirk playing on his lips. It was a fact the boys wouldn't be able to keep up.

"Done." Jacob agreed surely, patting Seth on the back... he looked a little nervous himself.

"Great. Now go get ready... we don't have long." Alice ordered before rushing off to get and get changed.

"What have you gotten yourself into." I muttered as I began to walk out of the room, Jake suddenly hot on my tail, his mind racing with game plans.

* * *

"Something is off with you." Rosalie blurred to my side as we approached the outskirts of the field. "Talk." She walked around to stand before me, blocking my path.

I glanced over her shoulder to see the rest of the family talking in the middle of the field, all of them distracted. "Fine." I whispered, keeping my voice as inaudible as possible. "I'm tired of waiting."

"Waiting for what?" Rose whispered back, her perfect brows creasing.

"Jacob to propose." I sighed and her eyes widened not expecting that answer at all. "We were one of the first couples of the pack, despite everything, and nothing has happened for us... we haven't moved on. Everyone's getting married and having babies and I know we can't have babies, but I just want to be something. It's been five years Rosalie!" I stressed, fighting back the tears as I blinked furiously.

"Oh, Aria." Rosalie looked sad for me, recognising the longing in my eyes for something we couldn't have. "You're saving for a house though, aren't you?"

"I have made my half for the deposit, I have enough for the whole deposit. Jake hasn't made up his half yet and he won't let me help... I don't get why it's taking so long. I know he earns a decent amount." I didn't care if I sounded pathetic or whiny, I wanted my life with Jake to start already. I was tired of waiting.

"Well then there you go." She remarked, straightening up to give me a pointed look.

"What?" I challenged, surprised. My voice raising a little higher than I wanted it to.

"He can't propose or anything because he can't afford a ring. He's trying to save for a house." She surmised pointedly, placing her hands on her hips, truly taking on her role of wiser older sister. "Give him a break Ari, he wants to give you the best he can, and he won't accept any of our help. He wants to do this his way, and you have to let him."

I thought on that for a moment, reluctantly agreeing she was most likely right. I just wished he would've explained his intentions to me instead of hiding them.

"Everyone gather around!" Carlisle called out to everyone scattered around the field.

I looked up at Rosalie. "I guess you're right." I mumbled before we moved quickly to join the rest of the group.

"Alice you're pitching as usual. Bella you're behind home plate, Emmett and Jasper you can fan out. Rosalie, Aria, Edward and I will bat first. Ness and Esme are you okay with umpiring as usual?" Carlisle asked in an orderly manner, in official team captain persona.

"Yes. That's fine." Nessie grinned as she twirled and danced around Seth's feet.

"Boys," I began, addressing the two wolves. "You can watch first, just to be sure you think you can keep up."

Jacob smiled sarcastically, he thought he could do this when I knew he couldn't. The only way it was most likely possible or them to keep up would be to bat as human, because they were very strong, but they'd have to shift to be able to catch one our balls out.

"Aria, you're up first." Esme called, offering me the heavy metal bat in her hand.

"Watch and learn boys." I taunted before sauntering over to Esme to take the bat out of her hand. The aluminium was cold in my hands as I twirled the bat cockily, no one ever caught me out.

"Ready?" Alice asked, already in her place.

"Ready." I confirmed, the smirk clear on my lips.

Alice pitched the ball, the speed it flew at me was immense. It hurtled through the air as I swung my bat forward, savouring the booming sound created as the ball collided with the bat. The sound ricocheted off the trees, crashing around us like thunder as the realisation dawned upon Jake and Seth.

The ball shot off to the right, spinning through the air as it soared upwards over Emmett's head, him taking off after it. I dropped the bat immediately and made a run for it myself. I propelled myself to first, and then second, the air rushing around me as I was sure I was a blur in the darkening field.

Emmett found the ball stuck in a tree just as I passed second and made my break for third. His feet thumped to the ground and then he launched the ball back towards the playing field towards Jasper.

I rounded third just a Jasper caught the ball. His movements were like lightening as he thrust it through the air towards Bella who waiting at the home plate. I could hear the eagerness in their heads at the thought of catching me out, but I was saving my top speed for this moment.

I moved boundlessly fast that I felt like I was flying, home plate was in range and the ball was still metres behind me. Putting the brakes on, my body folded as I skidded across the grass, tearing it up under my sneakers as my foot grazed across home plate. Milliseconds later, Bella caught the ball.

"Safe." Nessie cheered as I heard Emmett grumble from somewhere under the cover of the trees.

"And that's how it's done." I bragged, tossing my hair over shoulder.

"Show off." Emmett called across the field.

"Jealous." I sang back to him as I joined Jake and Seth. "So, what do you think?" I asked, placing my hands on my hips as Rosalie stepped up to bat.

"I think I don't wanna play anymore." Seth grumbled before stalking off to stand with Renesmee.

I laughed as he left and then turned to Jake who was looking at Seth with slight disgust at being left. "Coward." He seethed quietly. A loud crack split through the air as Rosalie sent the ball off and flying into the forest, this time in Jasper's direction. Jake flinched ever so slightly before turning back to me.

"So?" I goaded, wrapping my arms around his torso as I looked up at him.

"Baby," he sighed, placing his hands on my shoulders. "You never fail to impress me." He leant down to capture my lips in a sweet kiss.

"I know," I breathed out contently, resting my head against his warm chest. "So, are you going to play?"

"Hell no!" He bellowed with a big laugh that could rival Emmett's.
