Christmas

The sun was just rising over Arendelle and children were running outside with hatchling dragons following close behind.

Each house had a thick layer of snow sitting on their roofs along with several dragons either resting or playing. As the people have their traditions, dragons have their tradition of hatching their next generation of dragons near the same time.

Men upon ladders handed a set of wreaths to some Terrible Terrors as the dragons proceeded to hang them on the flag poles heading up to the castle.

-

Kai walked up to a bare Christmas tree while holding a box of decorations and flanked by Barf and Belch who had boxes on their heads. He pulled out an ornament, ready to hang it on what seemed to be a branch sticking out from the foliage.

Olaf jumped out from the tree along with the offspring of Liry and Toothless, otherwise known as the Night Lights; There's Dart the sister of the group. The mostly white and black spotted brother Pouncer. Then there's Ruffrunner the second white spotted brother of the group.

"Surprise!" Olaf screamed as Kai ducked and Barf and Belch dropped their boxes as the decorations flew all over the floor.

"Not yet, guys." Kai told the snowman and the baby dragons.

A set of maids and Smothering Smoke breaths we're walking down the hall, each carrying a huge pile of plates when Olaf and the Night Lights hid in a suit of armour ready to jump.

This wasn't going to end well.

"Surprise!" Olaf exclaimed in a happy voice.

The snowman and baby dragons jumped out of their hiding spot and Heather who clutched her plates sighing in relief that they didn't drop them.

"Not yet, guys." Heather continued on her way rolling her eyes at the mischievousness of the younger Furies.

A man carrying two giant dolls made to look like Olaf and Toothless was about to add the presents to the pile when...

"Surprise!" Olaf shouted behind the man, making him fall over into the huge like of presents.

"Oh, not yet, guys." The staff member told the snowman while trying to dig himself out of the pile.

-

Anna opened the door to the ballroom walking inside with Stormfly following behind. She was dressed in a light navy blue gown and coat, with a few holly berries braided into her hair.

Stormfly had a set of woolly leg warmers wrapped around her legs, a matching navy coat around her stomach and several ribbons tired to her spikey crest.

Anna walked over to a table covered in a spread of deserts and other foods. "Oh hello." She says as she was about to grab a piece of a biscuit cake when once again...

"Surprise!" Olaf jumped out from inside the cake and the Night Lights flew out from under the table.

Anna caught Olaf's head as Stormfly staggered back and the Night Lights circled around her.

"Okay, you three settle down." Anna told the three hatchlings as they sat down on the ground, looking up at Anna pretending innocence. "Olaf, not yet." She told the Snowman while holding up his head.

"Anna's right, our surprise party doesn't start until after the Yule bell rings." Elsa descended the stairs with Hiccup holding her arm. She was dressed in a deep navy blue dress decorated with silver embroidery and white fur tufts, a long silk cape trailed behind her, and her crown was sitting in her hair.

Hiccup was dressed in a similar navy coloured tunic shirt that had red and white accents, stitched into the neckline and the hem were a set of dragons. Hanging from his shoulders was a white wolf skin robe that fell down to his knees.

Elsa twirled her hands and the pine tree tinsel wrapped around the banister turned a frosty white.

Toothless and Liry came down behind their riders, calling their children and the Night Lights heeded their parent's commands and flapped over.

Toothless was wearing a set of Gronckle iron cuffs on his front paws and hanging around his neck was a medallion made to look like his tail.

Liry was wearing a large woolly navy blue scarf with a flower medallion attached to the centre, she had a similar set of cuffs on her front paws but smaller.

"Ah, sorry the suspense is tearing me apart, oh thank you." Olaf says as Anna placed the snowman's head back on his body while Elsa and Hiccup walked up to them.

"What were you three up to?" Hiccup asked the Night Lights as they just looked up at him innocently.

"We were just helping Olaf with the surprise, uncle Hiccup." Dart being the eldest of the three told her uncle.

Dart was wearing a headband laced with holly berries and pine needles, she was a lot like her dad; curious and cunning.

Hiccup wishes he could stay mad, but he leaves that up to their father and mother. "It's okay." Hiccup promises as he scratched behind her ear and the Night Lights all tackle their uncle while licking him. "Really?!"

Elsa just stands there chuckling at the Furies tackling and licking Hiccup and holding him down.

"I'm excited too, Olaf. It is Arendelle's first Christmas in forever." Anna smiled while looking back up at Stormfly.

"It also my first actual Christmas, so I'm hoping I won't be too much of a burden." Hiccup exclaimed as he pries himself away from the Night Lights. Usually around this time of year he and his family would be helping the new mothers train their newborns how to fly, since at home they didn't celebrate Christmas. So since Elsa insisted that he join in on their holidays, he didn't really wanna say no.

"Well, this is our first in a while and the first of many to come." Elsa squeezed Hiccup's hand tight as he got back up.

"Guys, look they're arriving!" Anna ran over to the window in excitement.

Everyone from the town and their dragons started to congress in the courtyard, many of the children were chasing after the babies.

"Look at everyone, they don't realize we planned a party as a big surprise." Anna sang to Olaf and the Night Lights as Elsa and Hiccup walked over to the window. "Soon the ballroom will echo with sounds of cheer, as we ring in the season this year." Anna danced around the ballroom with Stormfly following and copying her spinning and everyone avoids her tail.

Anna flicked a set of smaller Yule bells and Olaf copied her.

"This is overdue, got to look our best." Elsa grabbed a holly leaf and attached it to Olaf's neck like a bow tie.

"Oh, I've never been so nicely dressed." Olaf exclaimed while smiling brightly, Elsa brushed a bit of dust of Hiccup's shoulders and slicked his hair back further hoping to tame it.

Then Elsa grabbed a wine glass in her fingers and nodded at a maid while placing the glass back on the tray.

"We'll be hosting and toasting the whole night through as we ring in the season with you." Elsa grabbed Hiccup's hands and spun him around singing as Hiccup kissed her on the lips.

"It's the first Christmas forever." Anna was sprinkling icing sugar on two gingerbread construction, one looked like the castle and the other looked like the ice Sanctuary.

"Since we opened up the gates, and welcomed the dragons." Elsa pushed the castle gates open in the gingerbread building and put a small dragon on a spire.

"And it's the first Christmas that I remember to date." Anna, Hiccup, and Elsa made their way across the room with their dragons following close behind.

"And it's already worth the wait!" Elsa and Anna sang in unison as the guards opened up the front doors revealing a crowd of people cheering for the royal family.

"Look at all the joy!" Elsa and Hiccup sang together gesturing to the crowd.

"All the joy!" The crowd replied to the Prince and Queen.

"That is everywhere!" All three sang waving at the people.

"Everywhere!" The dragons roared with the crowd as the Queen, Prince, and Princess made their way towards the courtyard.

"With the Christmas spirit in the air." Elsa held Hiccup's hand tighter smiling up at his emerald green eyes.

"And the party will start at the strike of noon and we'll ring in the season, so soon." Elsa, Hiccup, and Anna waved to the townspeople.

A group of dancers and dragons jumped into the courtyard flanked by Kristoph, Sven, and Hookfang who was pulling the stand that the Yule bell was sitting on.

"Oh, look, it's Kristoff, Sven, and Hookfang, and they have the Yule bell. Why am I excited about that?" Olaf asked as Hiccup shook his head at the snowman while Elsa and Anna giggled.

"Olaf, the Yule bell signals that start of the holidays in Arendelle." Elsa told him as she hooked her arm around Hiccup's.

"Oh." Olaf gasped as two Snow Wraiths took off into the air carrying the Yule bell by ropes.

"And it's almost time to ring the bell, we'll hear it chime through Arendelle!" The Snow Wraiths hooked the bell in place and sat alongside it with two Deathsongs.

"It's finally here and it's happening fast!" Elsa grabbed Anna's hands and held them tight.

"We'll make up for all we have missed in the past!" Anna squeezed her sister's hands in reply.

"It's time to celebrate as we ring in the season at last!" Elsa beckoned for Hiccup to hold onto the rope so they could all ring the bell and the three of them pulled down on the rope.

The bell rang throughout the kingdom and the Deathsongs called out with the bell.

"Let the holidays begin!" Elsa shouted to the people and all three knelt down.

"Okay, Olaf, now." Anna told the snowman, as he smiled back up at her.

"Okay. Surprise!" Olaf and the others turned to see everyone leaving just as the guards opened the door.

"Oh, is that normal?" Hiccup asked Elsa, everyone was exciting the courtyard with their dragons in tow.

"Wait, wait, wait, hold on. Going so soon?" Anna ran forward and asked a mother and her child.

"The Yule bell rang, we must get home to prepare for our dragon's eggs and do our family tradition, rolling the yephsla." The mother pulled her child along as another couple came up behind Anna.

"Ours is putting out porridge for the tunta and our dragons need us." A man told her holding his wife's hand and tipping his hat.

"Were baking traditional stogglebukles with our zipplebacks." Two blonde twins said skipping past her, Olaf wobbled up to an elderly couple mumbling.

"And I'm going to felay the krumsakringlekakke! That's a thing, right?" Olaf asked Anna while Elsa and Hiccup came over.

"Mr and Mrs Olsen, your welcome to join us in the castle if you like?" Elsa asked the elderly couple walking slowly out of the courtyard.

"Thank you, your Majesties, but Olga and I should be getting home to knit socks for our grandchildren, and their dragons." The man said smiling at his wife.

"It's our tradition." Olga explains while pointing at her husband.

"Yes, and we would not want to intrude on your family traditions." Mr Olsen told the royals as he and his wife exited the courtyard.

Elsa let go of Hiccup's hand in defeat and Anna sighed sadly.

"Oh, the surprise was that everyone left." Olaf says bluntly as Kristoff came over wearing a moss robe and strumming his guitar.

"Hey, I say it's there loss. Who needs a big party anyway?" Kristoff told them while playing a tune.

"Kristoff?" Anna questioned her boyfriend smiling wide.

"I've got just the thing to cheer you three up, my favourite troll tradition. Care to join in?" He asked, spinning around Anna and elbowing Hiccup.

"Ah, yeah!" Anna exclaimed Elsa and Olaf nodded.

Hiccup however still felt like he was intruding in on this whole celebration thing and just smiled.

"Okay, it starts with the gathering song, the Ballad of Flemmingrad." He said in a deep voice, Olaf jumped forward. Toothless and Liry looked at each other raising their eyes, knowing this was going to be interesting.

"I love Ballads!" Olaf screamed while clapping his hands as the Night Lights screeched in response.

"Every December, we all gather round to pay our respects to a troll so renowned." Kristoff sang in a sweet tone as Sven pulled a small sleigh covered in a tarp. Elsa and Anna smiled at each other, maybe they were going to get a tradition after all. "We remember in song of the friend that we had, a jolly old troll called Flemygrad." Sven and Kristoff swayed side to side as Olaf blew into one of his hands making it sound like a flute.

"Tempo," Olaf told the singing man as Kristoff surged forward.

"We all dig deep down and pull up the past, we shove up its nostrils a fist full of grass." Kristoff explained while Sven passed Hiccup and Elsa tufts of grass.

"Ah, nostrils?" Hiccup whispered in Elsa's ear, confused as if this is normal or not.

"We shape his likeness. Bless his soul." Kristoff's voice got very high that Liry, Toothless, and the Night Lights winced at the out of tune note.

Sven pulled the blanket of the sled to reveal a troll covered in fungi and pine needles.

"Oh!" Olaf gasped the troll was beautiful.

"Wow, gross." Anna exclaimed Hiccup stifled a laugh.

"Flemmy the fungus troll!" Kristoff sang the last note and Hookfang growled at him.

"Now you lick his forehead and make a wish." Kristoff knelt down and licked the statue with enthusiasm.

Elsa and Anna all grimaced at the man, Hiccup and the dragons gagged.

"Who's next?" Kristoff stood back up and they saw he had pine needles all over his chin.

"Elsa, Hiccup, you're up." Anna elbowed Hiccup in the arm and they both gagged again.

"Come on, it tastes like lichen." Kristoff told them, where Hiccup nearly threw up. He had been on a diet of fish and meat for years, and never did he have to deal with that before.

"You're a Princess. You don't have to settle." Olaf whispered to Anna and she just shrugged.

"Okay, not so much a royal activity or a dragon thing, I get it. But wait until you taste my traditional flemmy stew." Kristoff pulled a piece of fungi of the statue and threw it into a pot. "It may smell like wet fur but it's a real crowd-pleaser." He and Sven walked over to the stables pushing the horrible looking statue.

"Oh thanks, we're good." Anna told him and waving.

"We had a big breakfast." Hiccup said rubbing his stomach.

Elsa, Anna, Hiccup, Olaf, and the dragons rushed inside.

Olaf and the Night Lights ran around the room, laughing and smiling.

"Oh, I can't wait!" Olaf said abruptly, Elsa and Anna looked at him.

"For what, Olaf?" Elsa asked him, confused about what he was talking about.

"For your family tradition, oh tell me what is it?" Olaf questioned the girls.

"Yeah, do you guys have a tradition?" Hiccup asked them while munching a piece of fudge, ever since Elsa and Anna had introduced him to chocolate he had developed a bit of an addiction to the stuff.

"Do we have any traditions, Elsa?" Anna asked her sister, she looked back at Anna with a sad face.

"Do you remember?" Elsa looked past her sister and up at a painting of herself and Anna sitting with their parents.

"Well, I remember, it was long ago they would ring the bell, you could hear it chime through Arendelle." Elsa walked up to a window and looked out at the town. "I remember the way I felt back then, we would ring in the season." Elsa held her hand up against the window and looked out sadly.

"The Yule bell was for the kingdom, what about us?" Anna asked her as she and Hiccup came over.

"Well, after the gates closed, and Hiccup stopped visiting, we were never together, so traditions just didn't happen." Elsa guessed.

Hiccup stepped away from his girlfriend, tears began falling down his cheeks.

He made his way over to a door near the stairs and the girls looked at him with concern.

"Hiccup, what's wrong?" Elsa asked as he reached the door and opened it stopping halfway.

Toothless walked up to him and crooned, he hated seeing his brother cry.

"I'm sorry guys, it's my fault you don't have any family traditions." Elsa tried to go to her boyfriend when he closed the door.

Anna and Elsa retreated from the door with Liry and Stormfly following behind.

"I'm sure he'll be fine Elsa, he just needs time to think." Anna assured her.

Olaf and the Night Lights stood in the middle of the dining hall whimpering, the offspring hated seeing their parents down in the dumps.

Suddenly Olaf and Dart got an idea and ran to the stable while her brothers followed close behind, confused to what happened.

-

Olaf and Dart jumped into the stable and ran to Sven, who was eating a pile of hay.

"Sven, Pouncer, Ruffrunner! Anna, Elsa, and Hiccup don't have any family traditions." Olaf told the reindeer who lowered his head and whimpered as did the baby dragons.

"I know it's sad, guys, but Dart and I have a solution." The reindeer perked up and smiled. "We are going to find the best tradition Anna, Elsa, and Hiccup have ever seen and bring it back to the castle! Are you guys with us?" Olaf held up his arm for the dragons and reindeer to high five, but they made it fly over to the other side of the room.

"Ow." The snowman exclaimed as Dart retrieved the arm and stuck it back in his body.

Olaf burst out the front gate in Kristoff's sleigh with the Night Lights flying close behind and roaring.

"Let's go find a tradition!" Olaf shouted to Sven and the dragons.

-

Hiccup sat out on his balcony looking out at the palace gardens, over the past few months he had realised that sitting out here did make him feel better.

Today however he just felt like everything was his fault, Elsa had plainly stated that when he left Arendelle, their family never made family traditions. If he had noticed sooner that she was like him and had powers when they were younger, maybe he could've done something that could've helped.

Toothless warbled below in the garden trying to get Hiccup to talk, when they returned to their room Hiccup had shut and locked the door.

The Night Fury wasn't happy with his rider, but he knew what Hiccup was like when these moments happened.

Hiccup sighed and returned back into his room in the castle, not wanting to hear the laughter and cheering from the village.

-

Sven pulled the sleigh up to a house and allowed the snowman and dragons to hop down.

"Okay, house number one, guys." Olaf jumped up the steps and took in the decorations.

"Wow, festive." Olaf chimed back at the dragons who landed on the banister and steps.

Olaf knocked on the door and waited for whoever was inside to open it.

"Coming!" A woman said from inside, the door opened to reveal a boy wrapped up in a scarf, his mother in an apron, and several baby Gronckles flapping out to meet them.

"Good afternoon, I'm Olaf." The snowman was about to say something else, but the young boy cut him off.

"Hey, Olaf." The boy shook the snowman's outstretched hand.

"Please let me finish, and I like warm hugs." Olaf finished his sentence and shook the boy's hand.

"These are my associates Dart, Pouncer, Ruffrunner, and Sven." Olaf gestured to the Night Lights and the reindeer. "We are going door to door looking for family traditions, tell us yours and we'll decide if it's special enough." he explained to the small family while the baby Gronckles were having a conversation with the Night Lights.

"Oh, well we make candy canes together." The woman handed Olaf and the night lights a purple and white candy cane.

The dragons ate the cane and suddenly flew around like Speed Stingers on dragon nip with the sugar rush they instantly got.

The Snowman pulled his carrot nose off his face and promptly placed the surgery treat in its place.

"Oh, sugar rush." Olaf's eyes reflected the colors from the candy cane and he laughed at the sugar running through his snowflakes.

"You're supposed to eat it." The boy pulled the cane out of the snowman's face and placed it in his mouth.

"Eat my new nose, why would I do that?" Olaf asked the boy who just smiled at him.

"Because it's that time of year." Olaf looked at the child and finally understood.

Olaf pulled the candy cane out of his mouth and put his regular carrot nose back in its place.

"It's that time of year, oh." Olaf gasped and jumped up the steps of another house and tapped a tune on the door.

Olaf knocked in multiple other doors and adjusted his top coal button.

The night lights licked themselves clean and waited for the occupants to open their doors.

"Happy, Merry, holly jolly, seasons greetings here." The Snowman sang to each house smiling. "We are wondering what your family dies at that time of year?" Olaf and the Night Lights asked dancing.

"Love and joy and peace on earth and tidings of good cheer." Olaf sang to a baby, a group of men passed him and the night lights a mug of mead. "Do you have tradition things for that time of year?" A woman opened the door to her house, Olaf and the Night Lights bounced in.

"Well we hang up bowls of evergreen on every single doorway." a group children and Terrible Terrors we're putting up several yards of pine tree tinsel.

"We bake a giant cookie in the weighty shape of Norway." another woman said pulling a large cookie out of the oven and placed it in front of Olaf and the night lights.

"We go to door, to door, singing in our choir." A set of Choir singers sang outside a house with two adolescent Deathsongs humming behind them.

"Hang up all your giant socks above an open fire." Olaf sang as he looked at the fire with a concerned smile. "That sounds safe." He walked away holding the socks.

"So happy merry Yuletide carol faithful friends are dear, thanks for sharing what you do at that time of year." Olaf and the Night Lights jumped into the sleigh, throwing in the stockings they had been given, the snowman waved back at the crowd of people as Sven pulled away.

The bells rang out and Dart signalled to the snowman saying they should hurry up.

"Oh, your rights Dart we should hurry up if we are going to see every house in the kingdom." Olaf pulled on the reins telling Sven to pick up the pace.

"Jolly, merry, happy holly on a midnight clear. I'm here to ask you what you do at that time of year." Olaf, Sven, and the dragons took off down the street at full speed.

Olaf and the Night Lights were flung from the sleigh and ran into a door.

A man on the inside opened his door to find the dragons and Olaf tangled together in a pile.

"Hi, shalom, happy solstice, fancy chandelier. I'm looking for tradition stuff for that time of year." Olaf and the dragons spun in circles copying a spinning top, then they ran through a forest wearing ivy wreaths around their necks.

The dragons and Snowman sat down in a church as two children placed a candle hat on them.

All four of them knocked on a set of houses lined up as the doors opened up, a man welcomed the tradition hunters into his boathouse with a smile.

"Well, we make our decorations out of flotsam and jetsam." The family danced to the tune of the accordion, Olaf and the dragons bounced back and forth as the boat moved from side to side.

"Bake a yummy fruit cake and you can't leave 'til you get some." A woman held out a fruit cake for them to try.

"That went right through me." Olaf ate the cake, but it fell through his body and out onto the ground.

"Buy each other presents and then hide them very nimbly." A little girl sang, she pulled the blanket up for Olaf and the Night Lights to see a huge pile of presents stashed underneath.

"Wait up for a chubby man to shimmy down your chimney." Olaf looked up a chimney as the Night Lights fell down making a cloud of soot. "Breaking and entering, okay on Christmas." Olaf and the dragons shook themselves of laughing.

"Oh, happy merry muletide barrel, faithful glass of cheer. Thanks for sharing what you do at that time of year." A small orchestra played a tune as a woman grabbed Olaf's hands and flung him around.

The Snowman was thrown into the air and caught by Pouncer and Ruffrunner.

"Oh thank you, guys." He told the dragons as they placed him back on the ground.

"We knit scarves and sweaters and we wear our matching mittens." A family sang to them, they were all wrapped in a very long scarf.

"Don't forget the jammies that are knitted for my favourite dragons and kittens." An old lady said before she took the Night Lights and put them in matching sets of pajamas, which they didn't really appreciate being thrown into clothes like that.

But even then, each of the siblings mocked the other for their clothes designs.

"Eight nights in a row, we light menorahs on our mantles." The Night Lights set a candlestick on fire.

"You cut down a tree and then you dress its corpse with candles." Olaf said bluntly to a family as the two children started to cry and the mother hit her husband on the head and the man winced.

"I love it!" The Night Lights grabbed the tree and flew out the door, then threw it on to the sleigh with the other gifts.

-

"Anna, Elsa, and Hiccup will have all that they need. I'll fill my sleigh here with the help of my steeds, It'll be the best time of year." Olaf and the Night Lights danced in a circle singing as they looked up at the sky.

"It's up to you." Olaf heard the voices of all three sing in his head.

"Up to me, me, me!" He replied and jumped back into the sleigh.

"Oh, happy, merry, Mele Kaliki, holly jolly, happy tappy!" Olaf placed his hands on the back Dart and Ruffrunner and kicked his legs up as did the Night Lights.

"A chubby man will soon appear and faithful friends are tiny deer and festive tidings midnight clear, can I leave fruit cake here?" Olaf jumped from the last few houses singing, he jumped back into the sleigh and stood at the back waving to the people. "At that time of year!"

Dart shot a plasma blast into the air as Olaf hit the last note and Sven pulled the sleigh down the road.

Olaf knocked on the door of the last house, Dart was waiting next to him with an eager smile on her face.

"Last house, guys. Something tells me that this will be the best tradition yet." Olaf exclaimed hugging Dart as the door opened.

Oaken stepped out onto the porch hoping to find a person but instead found a talking snowman and a dragon.

"Hello, what does your family do at that time of year?" Olaf asked the trader, Dart smiled at the man.

The steam rolled off the hot stones, as Olaf and the Night Lights relaxed stretching their bodies out.

"Enjoying the Christmas, magic snowman and baby dragons?" Oaken asked the hunting party.

"Oh yeah, there's nothing like taking my coals of once and awhile. My troubles are just melting away." Olaf stated as his body pooled into a bucket under him.

Oaken walks out onto the porch with the night lights following behind, the baby dragons we're shaking themselves of from sweating.

"In retrospect, the holiday sweats are made for those not made of snow am I right baby dragons?" Oaken threw Olaf out of the bucket and the snowman formed in an icy shot quickly.
Sven and the Night Lights looked at him, Dart shot a small plasma blast to break their friend out.

"Oh wow, I fell so refreshed, am I glowing?" Olaf waddled over to a shiny surface to inspect his reflection, just as Oaken place a sauna on the back of the sleigh.

"Here is a sauna for your friends." Oaken plodded back inside, while the Night Lights made sure their load was secure.

"Thank you Mr Oaken, oh, by the way, would I be any to get one of those towels that is oddly revealing that your family is so fond of wearing?" Olaf asked the man.

"Here take mine." Oaken threw his towel at Olaf and closed the door.

"Still warm." Olaf comments on the towel.

-

Sven pulled the sleigh along, while Olaf and Dart danced on the seat.

Ruffrunner and pounder sat atop the sauna watching their older sister and the snowman sing of key.

"Dashing through the snow, with traditions in our sleigh, back to the castle we go to save this holiday, Ho, Ho, Ho." Olaf flung the towel around accidentally opening the sauna door.
A hot stone fell out into his hand As Dart panicked, she grabbed the stone and threw it out into the woods.

"Phew, crisis averted." Olaf began whistling as Dart warbled in response.

The stone hit a squirrel on the bead and flew back landing behind Olaf, the straw set on fire as the Snowman and dragons danced.

An axe fell from the sleigh and cut one of the reins and the sled tipped to one side falling down the hill.

"Oh, look another reindeer travelling in the opposite direction, hi." Olaf waved completely unaware of what was happening.

Sven and the Night Lights only just noticed and began to panic as the sleigh fell, pulling Sven with it and the sled flew off a cliff. Speeding down narrow passageways, Sven was pulled along as he was trying to find something to grip onto.

The Night Lights tried to help but with no success, the sleigh sped down a hillside heading straight for a cliff.

"Wow, we're making really good time." Olaf shouted back at the helpless reindeer.

Sven and the night lights tried to stop the sleigh, but couldn't get a grip on the snow.

The sleigh flew off the cliff and straight into the neighbouring one with a thud.

Olaf landed on the other side completely unaware of what just happened, the Night Lights landed next to him and crooned sadly.

The sleigh fell down the gorge and hit the bottom with a thud.

"Hey, at least the fires out." Just as Olaf said that, a loud explosion erupted from the bottom of the gorge.

"Oh darn it." Olaf lowered his head as Dart leaned against him while Ruffrunner slams his face into the snow in annoyance and Pouncer collapse onto his back in exhaustion.

-

Elsa stood outside Hiccup's room with Toothless and Liry as she was worried about him.

They all were.

She knocked on the door abruptly, Toothless crooned sadly for his brother to answer.

"Hiccup, please come out." Elsa leant against the door and heard a faint grumble form inside, this wasn't going anywhere. "Hiccup, please I know your there, we've been wondering where you've been." Elsa sang to her love, trying to coax him out.

Hiccup was sitting in front of his mirror without his shirt, looking at his markings that had been appearing on his body over the years, whenever he was upset or angry with himself, he would always look at them.

They were a reminder that he had a purpose, but every now and then, they felt like a burden. This was one of those times.

"I was told to have courage from you, and I'm trying to, we're right out here just let us in." Elsa asked as Hiccup looked over at the door, he longed to go to her, to kiss her.

"We'll always have each other, it's just you and me, what are you gonna do?"

Hiccup walked over to the door and opened it, Elsa lunged forward and hugged him.

"I am so sorry, I should not have said that about us not having family traditions." Elsa apologized Hiccup stood there dumbfounded, this whole time he had been blaming himself when Elsa was just trying to apologize.

Toothless licked Hiccup on the face and smiled as the Prince began crying.

"Hiccup, what wrong?" Elsa asked him, he walked over to the mirror and looked at himself.

"In the past, I was told it was a privilege to serve the dragons, but there are times I see this destiny as a burden on the one's I love." Hiccup fell to the floor and Elsa rushed to his side, Liry and Toothless circled their riders. He felt like this a handful of times, but the biggest was when his father was murdered after Viggo tried to capture him for his powers.

"Hiccup, listen to me, you are no burden, you are not a mistake." Elsa forced Hiccup to look up at her with tears pooling down his face.

"You are the most amazing, kind, caring, and selfless person I know." Elsa wiped his tears away and hugged him. "You helped me out of my fears, iI think it's time I helped you out of yours."

"Elsa, I'm, ah, I'm sorry." Hiccup explained to her through quick breaths.

"I should have stayed by you instead of running off, I am so sorry." Elsa hugged him again and he returned it. "You don't have to apologise for anything, also do you mind putting your shirt back on."

Hiccup gave her a mischievous smirk.

"What can't you handle all this raw dragoness." Hiccup stood up and pulled her close to his bare chest.

"Stop it you, what if Anna sees us?" Elsa asks as Hiccup kissed up and down her neck.

"Does it matter, she's always telling us to get a room; and we are currently in mine." Hiccup reminds her just as he said that a thud sounded up above and the couple looks at each other, confused to what that was.

Hiccup grabbed his shirt and ran out the door, following close behind Elsa.

The couple emerged from a hatch leading up to the attic, Elsa held a lantern and Hiccup created a small flame in his palm.

They looked around trying to figure out what the noise was, Hiccup turned to see a blanket pop out of a trunk.

"Ah!" Hiccup stumbled back and grabbed Elsa hand.

"Oh, hi guys." Anna threw the blanket off her, Stormfly emerged from behind her and nuzzled Hiccup.

"Anna, what are you and Stormfly doing up here?" Elsa asked as she and Liry stepped forward.

"We were looking for traditions." Anna stumbled out of the trunk wearing a blanket robe and weird hat.

"What are you wearing?" Hiccup asked her, pointing to her attire.

"This was my Viking helmet and this was my sorcerer cloak." Anna pulled the cloak around her.

"I found them in my old trunk, I wonder what's in yours?" Anna gestured to a larger trunk.

"Oh, mostly gloves." Elsa placed the lantern on a crate.

"Right, rows and rows of satin gloves." Anna jokingly stated as she opened the trunk to reveal, satin gloves.

"Oh, wow that is a lot of gloves." Hiccup exclaimed, standing next to Anna.

"Yeah, welcome to my world." Elsa stood next to Hiccup as he pulled something out.

"Who's this little guy?" Hiccup held the toy penguin in front of her.

"Oh sir Yorgenborgen, he was a really good listener." Elsa held the penguin doll, Hiccup walked over to a much smaller box.

He pulled out a wooden box and Anna came over carrying another box from Elsa's trunk, the three of them gasped at the contents inside both boxes.

"Okay, Sven, Dart, Ruffrunner, and Pouncer, I'm not going to sugarcoat it. This is a bit of a setback." Olaf said as Sven grunted in disapproval of the snowman's evaluation of the situation.

The Night Lights nodded in agreement as this was more than a setback.

"This is more like a failure." Pouncer said and his siblings agreed.

"Oh, maybe this is salvageable, no definitely not." Olaf placed a burnt candle crown on his head, but it crumbled once touched. "Oh parts of this are still good I think, oh no this is unsafe now." He picked up a bottle looking through it, but it cracked and shattered once he held it up to his face.

"Hey, the fruit cake this thing is instructable." Olaf held up the fruit cake and the Night Lights rejoiced that maybe Hiccup, Elsa, and Anna were going to get a tradition after all.

"We will just take this seemingly harmless shortcut here and meet we'll meet you back at the castle, okay." Olaf and the baby dragons walked into a cave.

"This doesn't look safe." Ruffrunner says as they enter the cave.

But upon entering, a wolf growled at the intruders.

"Oh, puppies! Ah, down boy, we are just going to...run!" Olaf and the Night Lights ran out of the cave and into the forest.

Sven decided it was time to get some help as the reindeer took off back in the direction of Arendelle.

-

Sven ran through the Castle courtyard, hoping to find someone to help him.

Hookfang looked down from his sleeping spot atop a spire and saw his reindeer friend in a panic as he noticed that he was able to get a full days sleep without being disturbed by the Night Lights for once.

He jumped down and ran after his friend, as he was slightly worried about his best friends children.

Sven burst through the stable door and ran into the wall, Kristoff was tasting his horrid stew and smiled upon the reindeer's entrance.

"Ah, Sven. The flemmy stew is ready, Anna, Elsa, and Hiccup are going to love this." Kristoff added more stuff to the stew, Sven huffed at him and tried to tell him that Olaf and the night lights needed help.

"Oh Kristoff your so thoughtful, now where's my bowl." Kristoff impersonated his friend, Sven huffed and ran over to the hay bales.

Sven pulled out his reins and placed them in front of his friend, he sat down hoping he would understand.

"Here you go." Kristoff thrust the bowl forward, Sven turned around and grabbed a carrot plopping it into the soup.

"Whoa what are you, oh, of course, it needs more carrots, you just can't get enough of them can you?" Sven frowned, why wasn't he listening?

Sven pulled the carrot out of the stew and shapes his body to make himself look like Olaf. He falls into the hay and stretches up making a howling sound, he then growls.

Making himself look like Olaf again, he leans against the hay and then falls down and growls and bites like a wolf.

"Ah?" Kristoff could not understand what the reindeer was trying to get at.

"Oh no, Olaf is lost in the forest." Anna stated, clearly worried when Kristoff turned to see the three of them.

"The Night Lights are with him." Hiccup said out of fear, looking at Toothless who appeared shocked.

"And they're being chased by wolves?" Elsa asked the reindeer, Sven nodded.

"Ah..yeah, obviously." Kristoff mumbled to himself while placing the bowl of stew on a nearby table.

"Ring the bell!" Anna commanded Kai that was with them.

"Gather every person and dragon." Hiccup shouted as he put his trekking armor on.

"Come on, Sven, make yourself useful." Kristoff told the reindeer while running out of the stables, Sven spat out the stick in his mouth a glared at his friend.

-

Olaf and the Night Lights were running as fast as they could through the thick underbrush, Olaf was covered in scratches and dents.

"Please leave us! Look, I know you're hungry, but we need at least one tradition for our best friends. The fate of their world depends on it!" Olaf tried reasoning with the wild animal.

Dart shot a plasma blast at a thicket of bushes just before they threw themselves out of a narrow gap.

Olaf and the baby dragons landed in a pile at the bottom of a hill, then began to untangled themselves and panted. Olaf looked back at the forest where the wolves are stuck in a pile of tree branches and snow, thanks to Dart's blast.

"Oh, yes, yes we did it! A tradition is saved!" Just as the snowman yelled his rejoice, a hawk swooped down and snatched the fruit cake out of Olaf's hand, flying far of into the distance with it.

Olaf and the Night Lights bowed their heads in defeat, they didn't find or keep any traditions.

"Well, guys, I guess hawks need traditions too." Olaf pulled his nose of the side of his head and placed it back on his face.

"Happy, merry, holly, jolly, tidings of good cheer." Olaf sang out into the wilderness as he and the night lights walked away.

Olaf and the baby dragons walked slowly through the forest with their head thing low, Olaf and Dart felt the worst.

"We never meant to let them down at that time of year." Olaf stood in front of a tree looking up at the sky disappointed that they couldn't get their friends a tradition. "I guess I should just stay lost, you guys should go back to Arendelle, and be with your parents."

The dragons looked at the Snowman and shook their heads, they weren't going anywhere without him.

Olaf, Dart, Ruffrunner, and Pouncer cuddled up together next to a tree, trying to stay warm and forget about their failure of finding a tradition for their family.

-

Elsa, Anna, Hiccup, and Kristoff were going door to door, trying to figure out where Olaf and the dragons might've gone.

Sven came bounding past the group and pointed out to the forest, they followed hoping to find their friends.

Hiccup sat atop of Toothless who was leading a flock of dragons who were trying to spot the baby dragons from the air.

Liry was calling out to her children flying beside Toothless, as they never thought their children would do something like this.

"Toothless, what if we never find them?" Liry asked the Nighy Fury with concern

"Liry, don't worry we'll find them and bring them home." Toothless reassured her with a nod, Hiccup looked down at Elsa who was frantically searching for the missing Snowman.

-

"Olaf, where are you?!" The search party shouted into the forest, the dragons we're sniffing along the ground trying to pick up any scent. But it's harder trying to find Olaf's snow scent with it being covered in snow everywhere now.

Heather was leading the search party from the air and still found nothing.

"Where'd they get to?" Heather questions Windshear as they flew over everywhere, hoping to spot the carrot nosed walking pile of snow.

"Dart, Pouncer, Ruffrunner!" Hiccup and Toothless called out, hoping for a reply as they stood next to Elsa and Anna.

"Any sign of them?" Elsa asked Hiccup with an expression to match her dragon behind her.

"No, nothing." Hiccup told her as they continued forward.

"Olaf, Dart, Ruffrunner, Pouncer!" Anna called out, Hiccup could see this wasn't working.

-

Not too far away, Dart, Ruffrunner, and Pouncer could hear their parents calls and sat up with a start, they ran to the worried roars and found a huge search party looking for them.

"Mom, Dad!" The three dragons called as they ran to their parents.

"Kids!" The two adult Furies ran to their children and hugged them tightly.

"Where have you been? We were so worried." Toothless asks as the baby dragons bowed their heads low in shame.

"Mom, Dad we're sorry. We just wanted to get a tradition for Uncle Hiccup, Auntie Elsa, and Auntie Anna so they wouldn't be so sad." Ruffrunner explains as their parents looked at each other then smiled.

"Oh, is that all you were doing? We aren't mad, we just wish you told us." Toothless says as the family hugged once more as Hiccup and Elsa came up to the kids.

"Were you three with Olaf?" Elsa asked and the Night Lights nodded.

"Do you know where he is?" Hiccup asked them and the baby dragons ran off into the forest and beckoned for the search party to follow.

"Olaf, where are you?" Anna shouted one last time as the Night Lights stopped at a pile of snow shaped like a snowman.

"He's not here." a muffled voice told her, Dart crooned trying to get him to come out.

Anna and Elsa sat down next to the pile of snow and Hiccup leaned up against the tree crossing his arms.

"Well, I wonder where he went." Anna asked smiling at her sister.

"Well, he probably went on a mission with Dart, Ruffrunner, and Pouncer to find traditions for Anna, Elsa and Hiccup." Olaf guessed his own intentions.

Hiccup looked down at the snowman and smiled. "Did he find any?" He asked, kneeling down next to Elsa.

"He did, but then they caught fire, then they fell off a cliff, then they caught on fire again, then a hawk took them." Stormfly pulled on the snowman's carrot nose and held him above the ground as he finished his sentence, then carefully placed him back on the ground.

"I'm sorry, you guys still don't have a tradition." Olaf told the trio but all of them smiled.

"But we do Olaf." Elsa and Hiccup held up their boxes for the snowman to see.

"Wait is that me and are those letters?" Inside Elsa's box, we're several cards and a stuffed toy each had Olaf on them.

"I made these years ago when we first made you." Anna told Olaf smiling.

"You were the one that brought us together and kept us connected when we were apart." Elsa held her sister's hand, Olaf gasped.

"Every Christmas I made Elsa a gift." Anna held out each card and small trinket.

"All those long years alone, we had you to remind each other of our childhood." Elsa held his hand and patted it.

"It's you, Olaf, you are our tradition." Anna told him smiling.

"But what about Hiccup? He doesn't have a tradition." Hiccup knelt down and handed the snowman a hand sown doll, it looked exactly like his dragon-mother.

"Olaf, every year Hiccup and I would write a letter to each other." Elsa held her boyfriend's hand and grinned at him.

"You did?" Olaf asked Elsa as Hiccup nodded and pulled out a letter.

"Even though we had no way to send them, we still wrote a letter and a year before she was crowned Queen she made this." Hiccup pointed to the dragon plush in the snowman's hand.

"What is it?" Elsa smiled and held the toy in her hands.

"The Christmas before I became Queen, I had a dream about the night Hiccup left and I saw that dragon in my dream." Olaf looked at the toy and smiled it was very well made.

"Olaf, the toy looks exactly like my dragon-mother." Hiccup explaied as on que, the Fire Queen came over and nuzzled him and he returned the gesture.

"Surprise." All three said as Elsa began humming.

"Sure, it's nice to open a gift that's tired up with a perfect bow." Elsa twirled her hands and a bow-tie appeared on Olaf's neck.

"But the greatest present of all was given to us long ago." Hiccup sang as he took Elsa's hand and began walking down a path.

"It's something I would never trade, it's the family that we've made." Elsa sang as a young boy came up to Olaf and hugged him.

The boy passed Olaf a candy cane, more people surrounded the snowman and wrapped him in a scarf.

"'Cause when we're together, I have everything on my list." Anna sang while holding Elsa's hand.

"And when we're together I have all I wished." Elsa sang as Hiccup held his hand around her waist and brought her close.

"All around the Christmas tree, there'll be dreams coming true." Anna, the Night Lights, and a group of children danced around Olaf.

Dart pulled on the end of his scarf and the snowman spun out of the scarf, his face beaming.

"But when we're together, then my favourite gift is you." Hiccup sang as sparks floated in his hands, he thrust his hands forward and glowing crystals began popping up out of the ground, creating a path to walk down.

"I would travel miles and miles and I would follow any star." Elsa, Hiccup, and Anna walked hand in hand down the path while singing with Olaf and the Night Lights running in front of them.

"I'd go almost any place if it's any place you are." The three continued to sing as Elsa pulled Anna and Hiccup onto the ice and all three danced across the frozen water.

"'Cause when we're together, I'll forever feel at home." Hiccup sang as he made an ice table for some of the palace servants to place food platters on.

"When we're together." Heather replied to his words, giving into the songs and scatted over to her friends.

"And when we're together." Elsa and Hiccup sang kneeling down to three children drinking hot chocolate with the night lights and Olaf.

"When we're together." Anna replied smiling at the two of them

"We'll be safe and warm." Olaf drank his hot cocoa and the liquid fell straight through his head and out onto the ice.

"Doesn't matter where we are if you're there with me." Elsa and Hiccup harmonized and ran down a line of people.

"Cause when we're together that's my favourite place to be." Elsa and Hiccup stamped their feet on the ground and streams of light streaked across the ice, from it a tree made of crystal and ice formed up into the air.

"Cause when we're together It's a holiday every night." Hiccup sang as the dragons brought the glowing crystals to him.

The townspeople held out their lanterns and Elsa connected them all on a string of ice.

"And when we're together, then the season's bright." Elsa and Hiccup twirled their hands and the crystals and lanterns floated up to the tree and hung on the ends of each branch.

"We don't need the bells to ring." Elsa sang as Kristoph handed her the Olaf doll, she encased the doll in an icy star.

"I don't need the bells." Hiccup replied while hoping on Toothless.

"I'll know when it's here." Elsa hopped on Liry's back with Olaf and the two Furies flew up into the air.

"I'll know when it's here." Hiccup replied making the dragon doll glow a bright orange.

"Cause when we're together I could stay forever." The Furies circled the top of the tree and Elsa helped Olaf hold the star out.

The snowman placed the star on the top of the tree and Hiccup sat his doll just below it, the two light sources glowed bright.

"And when we're together It's my favourite time of year." The Furies returned to the ground and allowed their riders to hop down with the Snowman, the group huddled together holding each other hands and looked up at the tree smiling.

Hiccup and Elsa stared into the eyes of each other and smiled, they brought their lips together and kissed as the tree let out a magical light.

"Well, I think Arendelle has a new tradition." Elsa stated as she and Hiccup pulled apart from their kiss.

"Thank you, Olaf." Anna said to the snowman.

"If it wasn't for you, I would have never seen that Christmas was a wonderful time of the year." Hiccup stated as Heather agreed with him when suddenly a hawk flew by and dropped something on top of the snowman.

"Oh, wow, I did not see that coming." Heather bluntly stated as Olaf got back up.

"Oh, the fruit cake! It's a Christmas miracle!" Olaf cheered as the riders and their dragons all shook their heads sighing.
