A bond stronger than steel
"Woohoo!" Hiccup whooped joyfully as he's plummeting down to the sea from 100 feet in the air.
Most people would have panicked in this situation, but not Hiccup. You see, he had a brother flying through the sky that would catch him before he hit the water.
"Toothless!" Hiccup called out in a rumbling cry.
The Night Fury Hiccup befriended so many years ago swooped down to catch Hiccup in his hind claws. The half dragon boy was eighteen and Mala was going on to twenty one. Toothless would always snort and say Hiccup's still that young hatchling he met in his eyes whenever Hiccup brought it up or brought up Elsa.
It has been a year since they received the letter from Arendelle, but they haven't heard anything since then once again breaking contact.
Toothless flies in and Hiccup climbs onto the new saddle attached to Toothless before the Night Fury opens his wings and the two begin to glide over the ocean and back towards home.
A small pack of Terrible Terrors soared around the two and the sun beat down on the odd brothers and Hiccup is loving the feeling of flying. There is nothing in the world that could top this feeling he feels when soaring in the air.
The two flew back home and landed to see everyone going amongst their daily business.
"Okay, let's call it quits for the day, bud." Hiccup says and Toothless agrees.
"Thank goodness. I'm gonna go take a long nap. You may not get tired of flying, but I certainly do." Toothless says as he walks off.
Hiccup laughs at his half brother and wanders into the forest.
-
While wandering the forest, Hiccup started to hear the screeches of a terrified Terrible Terror.
Following the calls, Hiccup found a Terror is tangled and trapped in a fishing net.
"Hey, it's okay. I'm here." Hiccup tries to calm the little guy down before he got himself tangled up in the net anymore than he already is.
Just when Hiccup was about to free the little guy, that's when he felt something prick his neck and men rushed out of their hiding places and threw their nets and rope on the man. Hiccup became tangled in the mess while also encased with ropes. Felling for what pricked his neck, he sees it was a green dart that looks like dragon root.
Suddenly he saw a tall man with a small built with black hair and beard. His eyes were a piercing green color and he wore a sleeveless shirt with a thick waist belt that had a Hunter signature on it. One of the men pulled Hiccup up but kept a firm grip on him while several men wrapped the nets tightly around him.
That very man started to walk towards them, Hiccup could only watch helplessly as he knew he can't get away now. He's too far from the village for anyone else to hear him, and Toothless' hearing wouldn't reach him this far.
Someone grabbed onto his chin and forced him to look up. He came face to face with the very man he owed his current situation to. He glared at the man named Viggo Grimborn.
"You are a human child," Viggo started. "And yet you speak using a dragon's tongue."
Hiccup's eyes widen at the statement, he knew about his gift, possibly his abilities. He had been spying on them! He clutched his teeth and tried to move his face away from the man's hand. But he was not successful.
"That is truly an interesting ability you have...did you acquire it or were you born with it?" Viggo wondered.
Hiccup stays silent, not wanting to tell him anything, worried what they might do if he did.
"We will learn all that you know in time." Viggo promises him. "Load the boy onto the ship and prepare to leave as soon as that is done!" He tells the men.
"Yes sir!" the men exclaimed in unison.
Hiccup tries to fight back, but the dragon root weakened his dragon side and his powers, making him more sluggish than he liked. He can't fight back and nobody knows where he is or what's happening.
He's captured.
-
Viggo ordered they take Hiccup to their ship and throw him into one of their dragon proof cells so he couldn't use his powers to escape.
The image of the island's scenery started to disappear as Hiccup was taken to the ship of the Dragon Hunters. The chains hurt his wrists and his arms as it rubbed against them.
It wasn't long before the men walked onto the deck of the ship. His home started to look so small now to Hiccup, his eyes filled with tears as he contemplated the horrors that awaited him. He was taken to the lower deck and he could see that there were several empty cells.
Hiccup shuddered as to what these Hunters planes to use him for.
The man unlocked one of the cell's doors and pushed Hiccup inside, removing the ropes only for shackles to be clamped onto Hiccup's wrists and ankles. He struggled to stand up as the weight of the metal was too heavy for him to handle in his current state. The cell's door was locked once again, only this time it held someone within its clutches.
"Enjoy your new home, boy. You're going to here for quite a while," the guard said as he laughed and left the Dragon proof cell. Now if Hiccup did get his powers back, he wouldn't be able to get out.
Hiccup found himself alone in a cells and nothing but a small circle window on the wall. The sunlight was shining through the window and hit the hard wooden floor. Just then the boat started to move and it entered into the vast with new passenger on board.
Hiccup sat down and allowed the tears to escape his green eyes. He cried for his brother, his sister, and he cried for the family and friends he feared that he would never see again.
-
Suddenly, Toothless sat up and he looks around as something inside of him doesn't feel right.
He has a...feeling something was wrong. Then it finally hit him.
Hiccup's in trouble.
Toothless quickly gets up and rushes through the village while roaring, knowing nobody can understand him but he just needs to get their attention.
Mala and Throk make their way to the panicking dragon as the villagers are trying to calm him.
"Easy there, Dragon!" Throk says as he tries to calm him down himself.
"Toothless, what is it?" Mala wonders and the dragon pushes them out to where he feels himself being pulled and that's when they notice the ships.
Throk takes a spyglass and looks to see they're Dragon Hunter ships.
"What are Dragon Hunters doing this close?" Mala asks when Mason comes and looks to Toothless.
"Toothless, is Hiccup on that boat?" Mason asks the Dragon, hoping it knows something and the Dragon looks to the boat and to his Rider's father with a worried look.
Mason looks to the boat and knows that Hiccup's in trouble, and he needs their help.
-
Hiccup was sitting in his cell with no hope of rescue when he suddenly hears the all too familiar roars of Toothless and the screams of fear he brings when he looks to the halls when it blasts come in and Toothless comes in with his eyes stick like as he blasts the Dragon hunters guarding Hiccup and he goes back to his happy self seeing he's okay.
"Toothless!" Hiccup says, happy to see him and uses the key from the guard to get out of his cell and runs to his half brother.
"I'm so happy you're okay." Toothless says as he licks his half brother.
"How'd you know I was in trouble?" Hiccup wonders.
"I...had a feeling." Toothless replies and Hiccup wonders if he brought help.
"Where's everyone else? You didn't come alone, did you?" Hiccup asks when he hears fighting above deck and hears his father calling Viggo out answering his question.
-
The Defenders of the Wing and the Dragon Hunters are fighting one another as Viggo looks to see an angry King Mason heading in his and Ryker's direction.
"Make with them as fast as you can, meet me back at the base." Viggo tells Ryker as he goes in to fight Mason who pulls out his sword.
"King Mason. You did well hiding your son from us. But what we can guarantee, we always get what we come for." Ryker promises him. "After we're through here, we will take your son and use him to lure more dragons."
"I won't allow you to harm my son." Mason said.
The king charged at Ryker with his sword out, Ryker immediately blocked the swinging weapon with his javelin.
The king had involved into a close combat, their followers couldn't do anything except waiting for the perfect time to help while fighting the others.
In one full swing, Ryker was flinched away, his head hit the mast near him. Mason swung his sword again as one of the archers quickly sent a arrow towards the king.
It almost hit Mason when a plasma blast interrupts it as Hiccup climbs up with Toothless.
Mason looks and is happy when he sees his son is safe and when he was distracted, Ryker immediately charged towards Mason.
Mason turns to fight him off when a piercing pain goes to his stomach and everyone looks as Ryker has stabbed him.
"No!" Mala, Hiccup and Toothless all roar and the dragon blasts Ryker, sending him flying over the edge of the boat.
The two children and dragon ran to their father as he drops to the deck of the Dragon Hunters ship where Mala lays him down after catching him.
"You're...you're gonna be okay. Right?" Mala asks as she raises her father's shirt and sees the damage of the sword, and it's not looking good.
Mason grasps for breath and looks to his children. "No, I...don't think so."
"D-Dad, no. Don't think like that. You're going to be okay." Hiccup says, holding his father's hand.
"Mala...you're next for heir to the throne...our people need you to be strong. I know you will be a great queen for our people." Mason tells his daughter who has tears in her eyes, not ready to say goodbye to her father. "Hiccup...you have an amazing gift unlike anything anyone has ever seen. And people are gonna be after it. Just use it for the right reasons. You can bring our two worlds together...and look after your sister. You're both are going to need each other. Promise me that."
Hiccup is trying to see clearly through the tears and fighting back the sobs. "I-I promise." He says and Mala nods her head in agreement.
"I will tell your mother...you said goodbye." Mason promises as he smiles at his children and gives a large sigh as his final breath as his children break down as Toothless smells Mason's hand and places his palm to his hand as his way of saying goodbye to the man who treated him no different from everyone else.
The two children start to cry as the rest of the Defenders of the Wing all kneel to honor the fallen king.
-
That night, they send king Mason gliding out into the ocean as they light some arrows.
"May the Valkyries welcome you and lead you through Odin's great battlefield." Throk says as he cries as well as everyone else. "May they sing your name with love and fury so that we might hear its rise from the depths of Valhalla, and know that you've taken your rightful place at the table of kings." He continues as he hands the bow and flaming arrow to Hiccup and Mala. "For a great man has fallen. A warrior. A king. A friend. A father.."
Hiccup and Mala face each other before aiming at the ship and lets the arrows go as theylight the boat fire as everyone else does the same and they watch as the ship burns along with their king.
"I'm sorry, dad." Hiccup apologizes and Mala comforts her brother.
Toothless looks just as sad and tries to comfort Hiccup as well and he appreciates their attempts and draws his sister into a hug as Toothless leans against his family.
