Here my first chapter. It is really short, but it is very important.

Bodies are everywhere. Both sides lost many. My closest friend and comrades among them. She died protecting me. He got kidnapped because of me. I want to go back to the life I had. The monstrous foster families, the moving from house to house, and even the feeling of hopelessness because a family will never want a freakish 15-year-old girl with wings. Instead, I got stuck with watching the light drain out of her eyes and the pain wrack her body as the poison from the knife flowed through her veins. I had to watch as my boyfriend got dragged away. I was there when my younger sister vanished in the same blast that put her twin in a coma.

The hope and light are gone from my world and all that is left is an empty shell of who I used to be, and who I had hoped to become. My name is Safire Buchanan and let's rewind this story a little bit, so you can find out what got me here.
