Chapter 19

Hah this picture is cute.
Yo, I'm being serious rn, if you haven't listened to this song, listen to it. I'm honestly obsessed with it and I love it more then anything else e v e r. Although it may not really fit with the chapter (maybe??? Idk where this is going at this point) ?- but eh, has that ever stopped me?

Yeah so this chapter is...kinda just a filler... not even gunna lie right now, I just wanted to write some fluff, yo.

Also, the reason these chapters have gotten more and more fluffy is mainly because the whole chapter is practically based on my mood, and recently I've been feeling a bit happier. Which is nice.

Yeah, this chapter might end up being fluffy. I just need and I mean need to write something fluffy right now. Okay? Okay.

Okay I'm totally not crying about the fact that this shitty story that I started out of the blue ended up hitting just about 90k reads in only a few months? Like excuse me? You guys pamper me too much- I- I AHHH I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH THANK YOU HOLY SHIT. I WISH I COULD GIVE YOU ALL A MASSIVE FUCKING HUG RIGHT NOW LIKE- THE SUPPORT HAS LITERALLY BEEN INSANEEE. Like I'm still a young writer, probably younger then you would imagine but uh- like how? I never could've imagined my book actually having people reading it, let alone actually wanting and waiting for my slow ass to update, it really is insane to me. I respect the authors on this app so damn much, and I've honestly made actual friends because of this and- and- I just... I love you guys, I really really do.

Izuku ended up taking a ride to the Bakugou's house in Katsuki's car. Mitsuki insisted that he rode with them, but in the end Katsuki ended the conversation with a quick, "For Christ's sake, I just want to sleep." And tore Izuku away from the other blonde. Izuku swore he could hear her light snickers as Katsuki practically jogged to his car, dragging Izuku just a step behind.

Izuku didn't protest, but did make note that Katsuki wasn't being as harsh as normal. Maybe this is what sleepy Katsuki is like? His grasp on Izuku's forearm was just tight enough that Izuku wouldn't just slip away, but he didn't even notice his hand until he was being dragged. Not to mention that, Katsuki Bakugou, the Katsuki Bakugou, opened the door for him. Excuse me, but what the hell did this imposter do with Katsuki? Izuku chuckled at his own joke and gave Katsuki a soft smile as he slipped inside the car, seating himself comfortably in the passenger seat. Katsuki clicked his tongue before lightly closing Izuku's door. The male quickly seated himself in the drivers seat, but didn't start the car.

He simply sat silently, hands resting calmly in his lap. Izuku watched intently, trying to figure out what Katsuki was doing. He seemed to be hesitating to say something, but Izuku was too scared to try and push him to say it. No one ever had to say something they didn't want to. It was a rule he lived by, and even if people broke that rule all the time, Izuku promised himself that he wouldn't be someone who forced people to say something they aren't comfortable with. That didn't mean Izuku wasn't curious about what a Katsuki had to say. He was very curious. Because this male doesn't usually have much to say, it's one of his traits. He was a very reserved person most of the time. He didn't state all his opinions to the world like everyone needs to agree with him, it's much of the latter if Izuku was being honest. Sure, Katsuki talked about some of his beliefs, but those are pretty much it. The blonde didn't talk to many people. Sure he had his group of friends, his best friend, but even with them he kept to himself.

It's not that it was hard for Katsuki to talk to people, he just doesn't see a reason to share everything in his head to the people around him. It wasn't appealing to him. So he was usually not one to talk very often. Izuku knew that, he's always known that. Once Katsuki started hitting middle school it became pretty obvious that Katsuki was becoming a bit more reserved with his personal life.

Katsuki groaned, placing his head in his hands. "You really don't know when you're muttering, do you, dip shit?" The blonde chuckled lowly, giving Izuku a very intimidating scowl. Izuku recoiled in on himself, pushing his knees up against his chest.  Horror set on his features. In a squeaky horrified tone he whispered, "I was muttering?" Katsuki's scarlet eyes rolled and Izuku swore he could see a ghost of a smile lingering on his lips. "Yeah, no shit. Stop over analyzing me, it's creepy as fuck." Katsuki huffed and raised his head. Without uttering another word he put the key in the ignition and the low rumble of the car rattled around them, breaking the tense silence that seemed to be following the two around for the past couple days. "I'm sorry... I didn't me-"

"It's fine. I mean- it's whatever." Katsuki clicked his tongue once again. He didn't even glance in Izuku's direction and he backed out of the parking space. "Guess I shoulda' asked if you got all your stuff but," He motioned with one hand to Izuku's bag that rested on the greenettes lap. "I'm going to guess you didn't bring anything else."

Izuku nodded slowly, unsure of where this is going. "Did you leave anything at ponytails?" He asked calmly, taking the turn out of the parking lot and followed his parents sleek black car in front of  them. Izuku shook his head before noticing that Katsuki probably didn't see it then answered quietly, "No, you?" Katsuki reached up and scratched his forehead under his spiky bangs. "Nope." The car fell silent again.

Both males wanted to start another conversation, a longer conversation, just to get them out of this very thick awkward silence. (CouGh sexual tension.)

"What type of music do you listen to?" Katsuki suddenly asks into the brisk night air. Izuku cleared his throat, unfortunately remembering the very haunting events that happened the day prior. "Uh..Usually uhm...sad music? I'm not sure. Uraraka calls it E-Aesthetic but I'm not really certain on what that exactly means..." He mumbles out, not wanting to tell him exactly what he listens to even though Katsuki got a taste not even 24 hours ago. Katsuki chuckles lowly in the back of his throat, before flicking on his phone and punching in a few numbers. "You know you can just say sappy romance songs, right? I'm not 'gunna judge." Izuku rolled his eyes at the remark but smiled nonetheless. "Okay, Fine, maybe I do listen to 'sappy romance songs' but you can't be any better." He retorted, totally not trying to get Katsuki to play his playlist. "I usually listen to rap, but hell, I think I have a playlist that might fit your shit better." He rumbled, looking back down at his phone as they stopped at a red light. A slow smirk spread out across the blondes features as he seemed to select a playlist. He quickly connected his phone to the handing white wire before setting his phone between his thigh and the seat.

The beat flowed out of the speakers, circling the boys in its sounds. Izuku sighed, content as he listened to one of the many songs he had heard a million times. Such a lovely song, Izuku thought kindly as he laid his head back against the cushion. His eyes slowly fell shut as he allowed the music to lull him to ease. Without fully noticing, he had begun his habit of going along with the words. His voice seemed to come out without his brain giving him any heads up or indication.

"I wanna be somebody to someone."

"Someone to you."

"Someone to you."

"Someone to you."

"Someone to you."

He lightly sung along, fingers tapping calmly to the rhythmic as the music stretched on. Katsuki didn't say a single word as Izuku continued his singing. He told himself that Izuku has had enough happen to him this morning, he doesn't need to be yelled at. Of course however, that wasn't truly the case. Sure, he knew Izuku didn't deserve to be yelled at- what, 3 am? But secretly he simply didn't mind the greenettes voice. It gave his normally empty car a new light as they drove across the slick morning roads in darkness besides a few passing streetlights and of course his car lights. The blonde couldn't help it when his lip quirked up a bit in a visible smile. Something about this setting just seemed so right to Katsuki. And damn, he didn't feel a tad bit upset when he pointed it out to himself.

The tune slowly faded out, unfortunately leaving a few seconds of silence for the teens to endure. This time however, the silence didn't seem as restrictive or awkward, it was calm and left Katsuki with a warmth in his gut. Another song quickly filled the silence, acting like the nice aura of the car didn't exist.

Izuku couldn't help but force himself to stifle a giggle with his sweatshirt sleeve. "Aren't you just a big softie." He muttered into the soft fabric. Katsuki swore that his eyes dilated as he glanced over at Izuku's figure and noticed the unmistakable smile that hung loosely on his lips. The blonde clicked his tongue with a affectionate gaze and flicked the greenette gently in the center of his forehead. "Acting like you're any better, dork." He huffed out and pushed lightly on the gas peddle. Katsuki had to force his own dopey grin off his face as the teens gaze went straight up towards Katsuki. He smacked his lips and gave the boy a tight lipped scorn. If Izuku would just look into Katsuki eyes he would see the hidden emotion lingering in his scarlet eyes, if only. Of course, Izuku still refused to make any kind of eye contact and Katsuki felt his shoulders relax a bit at that observation.

He heard a light snicker from beside him when Katsuki almost forgot to stop at one of the stop signs. "Why am I trusting you to drive again?" Izuku cockily commented, throwing Katsuki a smug expression. The blonde huffed, throwing accusing red eyes towards Izuku's viridescent ones. "Since I'm the only one in this damn car that knows how to drive?" He pushes his foot a little too hard down on the gas and could tell that Izuku had to clamp his hand tighter around his mouth to cover the snicker that was surly trying to escape. "Hey! I know how to dr-" Katsuki cut him off, knowing full well that he could easily win this 'argument'. "Oh really? Tellin' me you didn't just drop out halfway last year 'cause you got too scared to actually be behind the wheel?" He snickered lightly as the greenette stayed silent before giving him a short huff that said 'okay you're right...'.

The blonde smirked, focusing once again in on the black pavement through the windshield. Izuku titled his head back on the headrest, swaying lightly side to side as he allowed his ears to drain out any sound other then the music.

"I'd stop the world if it gave us time..."

The greenette whispered to himself.

" 'Cause when you love someone,"
"You open up your heart."
"When you love someone,"
"You make room."

Izuku paused and instead just to tilt his head to the side and take in the lyrics. Actually take in the lyrics. He smiled gently to himself, allowing his eyes to flutter closed. The aura of the car was a nice clean breath from the dark one of the hospital room. Something about having Katsuki with him in such a...domestic almost setting...felt- nice? It was so strange. Since a young age the blonde beside him had been a tormentor, of course that isn't how Izuku saw him, but that's how other people viewed the hot head. Izuku couldn't remember the last time he and Katsuki had been alone like this without basically bitting each other's head off, besides today of course. Possibly when they were children? The stories their mothers had told seemed so wholesome- was that really what their relationship used to be like? When did that change?

Izuku sighed, raking his scarred fingers down his face. He really had no idea. Katsuki really was one confusing human being. If they got along so wonderfully, why did he decide to target Izuku? Sure, Katsuki definitely had anger issues, and a bit of a pride problem, but did it really affect him that much, that he would go far enough as to hurt his friend? All of a sudden, Izuku felt bad for Katsuki. The greenette knew full well that he had told himself not to feel sorry for anyone, he had his own issues to deal with, but that was immediately thrown out the window at the reality that someone he had know his whole life is dealing with something. Maybe this whole soulmate thing is getting to him? Maybe...if they talked about it...he wouldn't be afraid of it? Or scared? Maybe he's worried?

(Yo I need to stop fucking rambling what the fuck.)

So, Izuku cleared his suddenly dry throat and decided to try and spark up a conversation. "So...any idea of who...your soulmate might be, Kacchan?" He immediately regretted it as he noticed Katsuki giving him a major side eye. "Deku, I haven't even got the damn mark yet, how the fuck am I meant to guess?" Izuku shrunk back in his seat in embarrassment. He reverted his gaze to the rubber floor mats below his shoes, face darkening into a light pink that contrasted nicely with his abundant of freckles that littered his cheek bones and nose. "Sorry that we stupid- I just- ya'know...thought um- sorry... I wanted to uh- start...uhm... a conversation sorry...I just- forget what I said... never mind uh-" The greenette stuttered out and rubbed roughly on the back of his neck. "Sorry..." He muttered one last time, assuming that he had broken the calm setting in the car, and he was willing to get yelled at for it. However, none of that came. After a few seconds he heard something he really wasn't expecting.

A deep and throaty chuckle rumbled roughly from the back of Katsuki's throat. Izuku hadn't heard Katsuki sound like that ever, and he wasn't expecting it. "Dammit dork, stop worrying for fucks sake. I know you're worried about the soulmate shit but fuck, you're really on fucking edge, you know that?" Katsuki clicked his tongue, a smirk decorating his face kindly. "It's fine, dumbass." He finished, clicking on the right blinker and turning into the Bakugou's household. It was one of the most up-kept house on the block, since it was something Mitsuki prided herself with. Since her and Masaru are designers, they decided to make their house looked as best as possible. Of course, it was extremely homey, that's what they were going for. The exterior was painted with a calm grey and had a perfectly done white trim. The front of the house was decorated with different types of well taken care of plants. Izuku knew from his childhood that Masaru enjoyed gardening a lot, and made sure their plants were kept neat and tidy. A large hedge outlined their property, in front of those are a mix of rose bushes, a cherry tree or two, violets, Daisy's, and a few different colored bushes that were trimmed with care.

Their front door was a deep maroon and had a mat black handle. As Izuku exited Katsuki's car, he noticed that Mitsuki and Masaru's black car was already parked beside them. Inside the house he could see the faint glow of the kitchen and living room lights illuminating through the white blinds. The jingle of Katsuki's keys finally broke Izuku out of his trance and he watched as the blonde silently slipped out of the car and slammed the car door possibly a bit too hard. He flicked his gaze back over to the house and followed behind Katsuki's figure. As they stepped up onto the porch he noticed that there was a welcome mat placed carefully in front of the door. It read "Welcome to this Hectic Family" in cursive and Izuku and to force himself to stifle a snicker. 'You know what? I'll probably need that welcome.' Izuku thought sarcastically and followed the taller male into the house. He was instantly hit with the distinctive aroma of cinnamon and caramel, both of which sent Izuku immediately back in time, remembering the times he's been here. Somehow he already felt at home and he felt like a small weight was lifted off his shoulders.

"Hey! There you two are, took ya long enough!" Mitsuki popped her head out from the corner. She glanced down before opening a closet to her left and pulling out a pair of grey house slippers. "Here, Izu, you can wear these." She smiled sweetly and handed them over to him. "Thank you." He told her calmly while slipping off his red shoes and sliding on the soft slippers. "I know it's," She checked her watch and her eyebrows shot up a bit. "Almost 4?" She whispered under her breath. "Well, its pretty late. You want anything to drink, Izu?" Mitsuki asked while lightly tugging him into the dimly lit kitchen which appeared to only have one light turned on at the moment. Izuku shook his head, fiddling with his sweatshirt sleeve. "No, thank you though." He declined respectfully. She gave him a firm nod and smiled behind him. "Well, Katsuki should be able to help you if you need anything, I'm heading to bed." She have her son a short glare that spoke enough words itself. Katsuki rolled his eyes and shot his mother a similar. Izuku smiled lightly at their exchange and watched as Mitsuki descended up the wooden stairs. He flickered his gaze back over towards Katsuki and watched as the blonde seemed to be contemplating something.

Katsuki began walking silently towards the living room. The area was spacious and open, a large grey L shaped couch sat in the middle of the room, decorated with a plethora of white, black, grey, and orange throw pillows. Draped over the side of the couch sat a tan folded blanket with a fluffy grey one seated on top of it. Beside the stack was a pillow in a black case, obviously placed there by Masaru when they first got here. "There's a bathroom over there, turn the TV on if you wanna be a fucking insomniac or some shit." Katsuki randomly began speaking. There was a obvious tone of sleepiness on his speech and all of sudden Izuku felt terrible for keeping Katsuki up for this long. "Thanks...sorry for bothering you. Sleep well." He whispered without making eye contact and began walking towards the couch and grabbing the blankets, deciding that he was going to make a comfortable nest with some of the throw pillows too. Katsuki huffed out a short "Yeah yeah, nerd. I'mma turn the damn light off now, bye." He clicked off the lights and left up the stairs as well.

Izuku settled into his comfortable nest after a few moments and tried to go straight to sleep, however it didn't seem as difficult as he would've first assumed. After a few minutes of just laying there in the darkness, listening to the wind from outside he fell into a light slumber.

^^^

Izuku entered the house with a beating heart. His head pounded painfully in his skull and he groaned at the striking agony. The putrid smell of bodily fluids and alcohol instantly wafted into Izuku's face and he had to bite his tongue to ensure he didn't add the the piles of vomit sitting pitifully on the floor.

He wearily stepped inside and slowly shit the door behind him. Something was off. Usually he could hear his mother shuffling around in her room or possibly on rare occasions her on the phone with someone. However, this time, the house seemed eerily quiet. Something wasn't completely right. Something was off. Izuku decided he wanted to figure out what exactly. Possibly his mom had left for...the store? Something? Maybe she was just sleeping? Yeah, sleeping...right? He slowly sneaked through the halls. Why he was being so sneaking, he had no clue. Something triggered his instincts and he knew better then to fight against him. Sure, it was technically his house and he didn't have go tip toeing around like this, but something deep inside him told him to, and he want going to question it.

He slowly slide past the broken bottles and puddles of dried blood and finally came up to his mothers torn down door. It was ripped off his hinges, wood splintering out of the door frame every which way. Half of the torn door laid smack in the middle of the door frame, edges broken and turned into sharp splinters. The floor was littered with wood chips and broken chunks of door. Izuku gulped as he noticed the top of the door was laying in the center of the room. A deep red trail of blood was smeared through out the room, twirling around in circles and forming a sentence.

You are never safe, Izuku. Watch your back, you're next.

That's all.

But that's all he needed.

His blood ran cold as everything added up at the same time. He let out a high pitch scream, hot tears already running wildly down his cheeks. "MOM!" His horrified voice broke in agony as he tore the closet door open.

Sitting in the middle of a pile of syringes and broken bottles was his mother's form. Her body was broken and bloody. And by bloody, it was drenched. It came rolling down her face in clumps and landed with a dull tap on the floor. Her stomach had a deep and deadly wound cut down to the organs, and possibly further. Both her cheeks had carved initials on them.

HM.

Carved clear as day, dripping oozing red liquid down her face and neck. Her nose was obviously broken by the way it was hanging and crooked on her face. Izuku screamed once again, tears blurring his vision. He dropped down onto his knees, not caring as his school uniform got drenched in his mother's blood. He wiped his tears and grabbed her wrist, praying that there was a pulse. It was light and barley there, but it was still there. He fumbled with his phone in his back pocket, trying to dial 911 but for some reason his fingers were numb and instead simply dropped his phone. It splatted duly in the pile of blood and Izuku scrambled to pick it back up and try again, but every time he tried it simply fell out of his grip. He screamed helplessly for someone to come, but nothing happened. He was simply met the dull and tasteless noise of silence and the light drip drop of his mother's dripping blood. He slowly felt her pulse completely disappear and he watched as she took her last small gulp of air. He screamed, a high pitch painful scream. "NO! MOM D-DON'T LEAVE ME!" He yelled, shaking her gently in desperation. "N-no...mom you-"

"She's gone." A gruff voice behind him pointed out, a obvious smile on the psychos lips.

Before Izuku could even comprehend what was happening he felt a extreme pain shoot through his side, followed by a pressure on his neck.

"You're next."

The man pushed down as Izuku screamed into the dark abyss.

^^

Izuku shot up in a puddle of sweat. He took large heaving breathes as he tried to make out where he was in the darkness. He panted unevenly as he strained his hearing and sight. Finally in the background he heard something drop and a gruff voice followed. "Shit..." Izuku felt his heart beat increase rapidly as his mind immediately went to his father. He's here- he's here- no- no NO! Izuku thought frantically and bundled himself under the blankets, tears falling down his face with short and broken sobs. They were light and quiet but definitely there, and Izuku tried his very best to keep the noise to a minimum. He felt his whole body shake in fear as he heard light footsteps come closer and closer to the living room.

"Deku?" Izuku froze, confusion and relief flooding through his senses. Kacchan? Oh- he was at Katsuki's. But...

Izuku shakily pulled the blankets off his face, hugging himself tight while bone shattering sobs still rocked his body. He curled up his knees and pushed his face onto the top of them. "Is he, here? Kacchan you have to g-" He started but another sob came through and cut him off. His body shook with the noise and he felt a fresh wave of hot tears roll down his freckled cheeks. He noticed as Katsuki's posture went slack and a sad frown turned at the edges of his lips. "Deku- no..." He slowly made his way around the couch to Izuku. The greenette shook his head in horror and quickly glanced around the room, looking for any signs of his father. Katsuki sat himself beside the crying teen and set his glass of water down on the side table. "Deku you're safe here, he's not here, I promise." He calmly stated, a fond smile playing at the edge of his lips.

The blonde pulled the greenette to his chest in a sign of comfort and began lightly drawing circles on his back. The greenette gratefully dropped his blankets and wrapped his arms around Katsuki neck and legs around Katsuki's waist. He snuggled deeply into Katsuki's shoulder, melting into his embrace. Katsuki smiled at Izuku's response, continuing to rub his back slowly. "I promise you're safe, I won't allow that bastard into this house, I swear to you." He whispered into Izuku's curls, tightening his grip on the greenettes waist slightly. Izuku nodded slowly into Katsuki's shoulder, breathing deeply to try and calm himself down. "Promise?" He murmured out, voice still shaky. Katsuki gave him a hard nod before answering. "I fucking promise. Want me to stay here?" He asked, pulling away from Izuku enough to see his red face and swollen eyes. The greenette reverted his gaze towards the floor but still gave the blonde a small nod.

Katsuki smirked lightly and pulled the blanket around them. He titled them to the side and slowly lowered him and Izuku down onto their sides. Izuku instantly snuggled back into Katsuki's chest, wrapping his hands tightly around his chest. Katsuki corded his fingers through the shorter teens green curls and lightly massaged his scalp. "Work on the breathing exercises, remember? The ones from when we were kids?" Katsuki whispered into his curls. Izuku nodded slowly and began taking deeper breathes. "Here, I'll do them with you." Katsuki took a deep breath in for 3 seconds, before exhaling in 4, and repeated until he felt Izuku go slack against him, soft snores drifting out of him.

Both boys cuddled impossibly closer and found themselves sleeping peacefully for the first time for both them in years.
