Imagine you had food, and you were survivors in a dire circumstance.
You and another person are alive with little food.
You have two choices,
• Share the food and you'll both survive but weaker from starvation.
• Eat all the food and let the other die.
The other person would be suffering if you shared but resting in piece if you didn't.
Is sharing a good thing?
When survival calls, certainly we must take precaution! So, making the two of you suffer would be selfless but in a way selfish.
Think about this,
You are yet again a survivor but this time of a sunken ship, your lover and yourself find a raft that only fits 1 person. If you drag one person onto the raft, the other will drown and die but if you both get on, both of you will drown because the raft won't support both your body weight.
