PIRATE LORD AND CAPTAIN Arthur Vain of The Ravager was a legend of the sea. Everyone knew the name and many even feared it. His reputation had only grown tenfold when he fell hopelessly in love with Edith Swann while ravaging a port with his crew. She was exquisite, and he simply could not deny how he felt for the woman. Their love is what created a legacy from the sea, a blessing to the waters in the years to come. And her name was Ravenna Vain.

Their daughter was beautiful, with hair as red as blood and eyes as blue as the ocean of which they sailed upon. The moment he laid eyes on their child, Arthur knew that she would make a fine captain of The Ravager one day. That her name would strike fear in the hearts of men and women alike. And he was right, for Ravenna Vain would become a ruthless and vengeful pirate.

Although their life had been filled with joy for many years as they raised their daughter in the ways of a pirate, a tidal wave had soon crashed over The Ravager when a mutiny took place aboard The Black Pearl.

As a good friend of Bootstrap Bill Turner, Arthur Vain helped the fellow pirate steal a medallion from the chest of Hernán Cortés. The men planned to send the cursed treasure across the waters with his darling wife, Edith, and their daughter so that they may place it in the protection of young William Turner, Bootstrap Bill's son, where it would remain safe and hidden.

But when Barbossa discovered what they had done with the medallion, he sought his vengeance against them. First, he made sure that Bootstrap Bill Turner was lost in the sea to suffer for eternity. Then he scoured the waters for the dearest daughter of Captain Arthur Vain. And when he had finally found Ravenna, he took the girl captive, killing her mother for good measure.

The many years Ravenna remained prisoner aboard The Black Pearl had changed her, made her more ruthless, cold, and vengeful. She was never allowed to leave her cell, and when she did, she was always tortured for information regarding the location of William Turner and the medallion. But she never said a word, knowing that Captain Barbossa would only kill Bootstrap's son if she did.

Sometime later, a storm ravaged The Black Pearl. And in the middle of all the chaos, she had managed to escape. The young woman swam to shore, sought passage aboard another ship, and made sure to never stay in one place for too long. She kept herself hidden and used an alias so that Captain Barbossa and his cursed crew would never find her.

As she went from one place to another, Ravenna searched for The Ravager, trying to find what remained of her father's crew. Of her family. But she never found them. Eventually, though, her path did cross with that of Captain Jack Sparrow. They both knew who the other was, and so they stuck together. And it wasn't long before they found themselves at Port Royal, a place that Ravenna never expected to see again after her mother had died.

But the woman was glad that she had made the journey to what she knew was her mother's home, for after fleeing from arrest with her pirate companion, Ravenna found shelter in a blacksmith shop, where she would reunite with someone she thought to be long dead. William Turner.

So, yeah, I'm back on my pirate obsession. And it's all thanks to my nephew, honestly. He watched the movies for the first time with me and is now in love with the franchise. And, of course, watching the movies again got me thinking about Ravenna and Will, so here we are! I'm very excited to write for them again, and I hope you all enjoy what I have in store for you!

Also, yes, there are two Swann's mentioned in the cast. Let me clear that up for you to avoid any confusion. Bascially, Edith is the younger sister of Weatherby Swann. She fell in love with a pirate and then had Ravenna. Stefan, however, is Elizabeth's younger brother. So, for the sake of this story, Weatherby's wife was with them when they found Will and moved to Port Royal, but she eventually died in childbirth with their son, Stefan.

Both Elizabeth and Stefan are obsessed with pirates and enjoy hearing stories about their aunt and cousin. But the children have never met before. Edith and Weatherby had a falling out when she left the family to marry a pirate and so she never visited. But she did write letters to Elizabeth and Stefan over the years until her death, telling them all about her adventures and Ravenna, and sometimes she even sent them gifts on their birthdays.
