Chapter 5
Dylan's POV:
I brushed my hair out of my eyes.
Two days left for school.
New school, new friends and a fresh life. I should get used to it.
Knock. Knock.
"Come in"
My little sister came in with a tray full of snacks, two cups of tea and a... a cake she baked in the morning. There were just two slices on the plate.
Some memories started flashing in my mind and I recalled those moments which just gave me pain in the heart. Dad left us a few months ago. He didn't care a heck about his family. Took all the money with him. Mom just wanna start a fresh life. And she got a job and sends us money every month.
At least she has a heart!
Also, she asked me to take care of my younger sis. She didn't have to say that. I already adore her a lot. She's not that young, by the way, she will turn 13 this October.
"I sent the rest to our next-door neighbours. They're pretty nice."
She must've noticed me staring at the cake slices.
Our neighbours are really hospitable. I don't know what occurred but the girl with dirty blonde and blue eyes gets really shy in front of me.
"What's the matter?" she said in a soft tone.
I realized I was still staring at the cake slices.
"Nothing," I said, "You can eat my piece as well"
"Are you sure?"
I nodded.
"Then I'm taking it to my room." she stood up taking the cake slices and her cup of tea, leaving mine on the table. "Goodnight"
" 'Night"
She left.
I gulped my tea. It was tasteless. None like which my mother made. It had been sweet with a milky flavour. This one was just tasteless.
I turned on my lamp, switching off all the lights. Then I picked up my mobile. I checked for notifications on Instagram. There were none. Then I scrolled down just to see a familiar face.
A girl with dirty blonde and blue eyes. I smiled and sent a request.
The lamp was turned off and I drifted off to sleep immediately.

One day! I've been counting days since half a month before.
My life was just a piece of shit. There was nothing for me in it now. It was completely useless.
I got up from my bed and screamed like I've seen a ghost.
"What are you doing here?"
"Watching you sleep. Your sister let me in!" said a girlish voice.
"GET OUT! NOW!" she immediately leapt up from her seat and looked white and frightened.
"I- I - I'm really sor-"
"OUT NOW!"
She immediately opened the door and left.
Have I been rude? Maybe I had been!
I woke up panting. What a shitty nightmare!
6:40 am
Hoof!
I eased myself into the bed again. Then checked my mobile.
Friend request accepted.
I ran my hand in my hair and smiled. I got up after changing sides in the bed for nearly two hours. Then I went to Rachel's room.
"Morning El"
Rachel woke up hearing my voice.
"Morning," she said stretching.
"Breakfast."
"Breakfast?"
She looked at the alarm clock and opened her eyes wide.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know when did I turn the alarm off. I'm just going"
I nodded and left.
Then I went up. In front of me was a black door. Although the house had been renovated before we shifted but this black textured door was the same. Because inside carried my secrets.
Wondering how would it carry my secrets even if I just shifted?
I shifted them as well. Now they dwell over here!
I pushed open the door. Inside was warm and cosy, the perfect place a person would like to sit and have tea.
The room barely had anything. A table. A chair. And a bookshelf.
Things starting hissing in my mind.
Oh please shut up!
It had been going on like this for some days. It was just my greatest secret. No, not my secret but a fear that grew inside me every day. I come here every day to soothe myself. And I never let my sister inside. Even though my sister has nothing to find here. Not so secret thing of mine.
I sighed and let myself out of the room.
"Oh, so you were here. I've been looking around the house for you" said Rachel. She turned around to step down the stairs. "Breakfast is ready."
I looked for one last time, at the room, before leaving for breakfast.

"Look I'll ask only once more. Why did you do that?" said a girl's voice.
"I also don't know," I said and tried to make the situation more comforting. "Please leave me alone for some time," she said clapping her hands. I approached her but then decided not to. Instead, I just backed away shutting the door behind me.
Just as I turned around the girl was standing right in front of me. Her face was just inches away. I just stared. Stared into her inky blue eyes.
"I asked you to leave" she whispered.
"I was-" My voice faded into the sudden screams I heard. They rang in my ears, smashing hard into my eardrums. I closed my eyes to bear the pain of the loud screams. Just as I opened my eyes again the sounds faded and the girl who was standing right in front of me seconds before, I felt like she was gone with the wind that had blown the screams away!
I opened my eyes to see Rachel staring right into my eyes.
"I thought you passed out," she said hugging me.
"I wouldn't leave you" I replied, "What happened?"
There was a long silence and it continued to stretch making me uncomfortable. But she didn't say anything. She was as silent as the night.
******
I twisted in my bed so many times. Unable to sleep. And unable to think. Anything.
It felt like something was invading my mind!!
