How to decline a Primordial
For a three weeks now, I've been on the run. I've brought about eleven half-bloods to camp and seven girls to the Hunters. They all know me as Landon. A few of the smarter ones asked if that was really my name. I smiled and answered, "If I told you my name, I don't know what might happen to you. But it's not." I remembered every single person I've found. Their story if they told it, their name, personality, looks. All of it.
Today I had another charge to pick up. It was a girl with an abusive past. I was always sympathetic to those people especially.
I headed towards Southern Maine, where the girl was located. I remembered something briefly and laughed. Grover was right. Maine was nice this time of year.
I didn't know much about the girl, but Artemis seemed to know I was there to help them so she set up a way to speak to me and get my help for recruiting.
I gladly accepted.
I used mist traveling to get there fast. It's like shadow travel with water in the air. Helped me out a lot over the weeks. And probably years to come. Hopefully years to come.
I appeared outside the house. I was left gaping at it.
It was a small, little red-brick building with a window on each side of the cube. But what had me gaping was what I saw through the window. I put my hoodie up and entered the house.
The first thing I noticed was the smell.
Blood.
Blood and death. That's all I could make out. I hurried through the house, purposefully not looking at the floor.
As I was searching, I heard a small scream and a follow up slap.
My face hardening, I charged in the direction of the noise. I threw open the door.
All at once I saw a dead body of a beautiful women on the floor. I saw a father slapping a little 8-year old girl until she was unconscious screaming her mother's name.
In one swift movement I brought out my knife and impaled the man through the chest. I gently set him down so as to let the girl have peace from noise. I looked at the mother. I decided I'd let the daughter decide what to do. I packed a small bag of things for the girl and sat down, waiting for her to come to.
About 15 minutes later, I heard a groan. I looked at her on the bed and my heart melted.
She didn't ask for any of this. Neither did her mom. I could see a light aura around the child. I could only guess she was a demigod.
I have a small smile. Her mother payed protecting her like mine did. But mine didn't pay for it like this.
The smile disappeared. My head lowered. My mom still doesn't know where I am. She probably thinks I'm dead.
I heard a scream. It was hoarse, but still there. I looked up at the girl. She saw her dad and mom and then me.
Timidly she asked, "Did you kill him?"
No use denying. "Yes. I did. I just wish I was earlier. I'm so sorry about your mother."
She looked shocked. "Thank you." She sniffled. "Why are you here?"
I smiled at her. "An offer. There is a place I can take you, free from men. Like one big happy family of girls. I can take you there. You'd love it."
She smiled. "I'd love that. Thank you, sir."
I chuckled. "No need to call me that. My name is Landon."
She grinned. "I'm Kiana." She said this like Key-awn-uh.
I held out a hand. No words were needed. She grabbed on and followed me out.
I told her how I was traveling and the disorienting feeling. She got excited and told me to go after we buried her mom. I clasped her hand in mine and transported out near the Hunt.
I dropped her off and told her the way. I watched from afar as she arrived. Thalia welcomed her and so did the rest. They took her to Artemis' tent. I was so busy watching I didn't notice the Hunter sneak up behind me.
Thalia nodded from within the camp, but I payed it no heed.
The next thing I knew, I was in the ground with a girl on top of me. She gagged me and dragged me into the camp with the help of another girl there.
I'd been trapped!
How did I not see it?
Crap! The Hunters have me at their disposal. And they hate males.
I kept my head down, hoping I could escape. They had me in their grasp. Artemis and Thalia walked over to me, most likely to remove my hood. I was freaking out. Then I remembered: Vapor Travel.
I'm an idiot!
I focused and right before Artemis lowered my hood, I disappeared. I could hear the yells of protest coming from the camp. I was sorry I abandoned camp, but how could I explain the reasons?
"Oh, hey. Yeah so I just left 'cause this one girl blessed me with a curse and a shadowy figure banished me, unless invited back during war times. So can you let me go because I was just about to head out for a smoothie. Thanks. Goodbye!"
Yeah, no. Not happening.
I shivered. It was getting cold. Then I snorted. Of course it's getting cold. Winter was coming. Jeans and a hoodie can only do so much. I began walking once more, looking for a place to settle for the night.
After about an hour of searching, I saw a clearing. It was secluded I could probably stay there for a long time. If I didn't have to travel, that is.
So I'd probably stay there for a day.
Exhausted from today's efforts, I laid down a bundle of leaves to keep the ground warm and sat down, staring at the sky. The constellations were brilliantly displayed tonight--the first time since Zoë's death I'd seen the stars that bright.
Zoë's death.
Why did I bring that to my thoughts?
Now a bunch of feels-struck fan girls will be on my tail.
Hades help me.
I don't want to die!
They'd leave little scraps and steal my clothes once I was burnt to a crisp.
They're like those movie star T.V. fans.
Deadly.
It make me remember, for some weird reason, the tales I heard at camp once. How people who left Camp Half-Blood were rarely seen or heard from again.
I also recalled Hades telling the council that certain souls had been escaping Elysium. And Thanatos' security was fixed by freeing the doors of death. Sure.
I had finished settling in for the night when I heard a noise.
Great. I thought. I really didn't want to deal with something trying to kill me.
I got up and searched.
Nothing.
Until I turned back around.
Standing in front of me was a black man.
Yes, black. It was strange but this man was blacker than night and wearing a flowing robe. His hair was black and his eyes.... well that was the confusing part.
You see, everything about him was black except the eyes.
Those were a bright, neon colored hot pink.
So yeah he's black and pink yet radiating power like twelve million Olympians as elephants.
I didn't bow.
Yeah, yeah, I get it. I'm supposed to bow to powerful beings who could kill me in the blink of an eye, but this guy interrupted my sleep and I really didn't want to deal with this right now. So, obviously I didn't bow.
I mean, would you bow if some freakishly powerful, more superior Greek figure was in front of you?
And interrupted your sleep when you got little enough as it was?
Yeah. Didn't think so.
"Perseus Jackson, I presume," the man-primordial-immortal-piglet-ah I'll just name him Pinky Toe.
"Yep. What's that gotta do with anything? And it's Percy. Not Perseus."
Pinky Toe chuckled. "Forward as always. Well Percy, I have a proposition for you. I need a commander for my army and its between you and some guy from this one planet that hasn't been mapped yet called Unicompica, home of Unicorns, fairies, alligators, magic, pixies, and assassins. So do you want to join? You get cool stuff and wings too!"
"Why wings?"
Pinky Toe looked at me like "duh isn't it obvious?"
"They look awesome!" Pinky Toe's eyes flared pink and I was almost blinded.
"Watch the eyes please. And before I say anything, who are you?"
The guy slumped down and smiled crookedly while scratching his head. "'Who am I? Who am I?' That is a good question! I am... Uh... Oh oh yeah." He cleared his throat.
"I... am Khaos. (A/N yes it is actually K. No C in Greek alphabet) The Creator and all those titles I don't care about. So? What do you say? Wanna join?"
I looked at him in shock. This... guy was Khaos.
Well Khaos quite suited him.
Seriously? This is the easiest answer I've ever given!
"No thanks. Commanding isn't really my style. I mean, that guy on Uniflopia--"
"Unicompica."
"--Whatever. He seems pretty ready. I, on the other hand, well. I want to stay here, and rescue half bloods. I feel that's my calling. Plus, if Camp goes to war, I'm allowed to return if they find me. So maybe that'll happen. So thanks, but no thanks."
Khaos regarded me. "I had guessed you'd refuse. Oh well. At least I asked. Thank you for your time Perseus."
"Percy."
"Pleasure."
And with that I walked away.
3rd POV
Khaos didn't leave immediately.
Oh no he had a plan.
You see, Percy was one of Khaos' favorites. He had done nothing but be himself, and it got him pushed out of camp by some daughter of Nike.
How incredibly inconvenient for him.
So Khaos had a plan.
He'd sneak back while Percy was sleeping...
Not like that!!!!
And bless him.
And so when Percy woke up he'd be immortal and a whole lot of other stuff.
Cause Khaos liked stuff. And he has a lot of it.
