Song of the chapter = Summer Feelings by Lennon Stella feat. Charlie Puth
How did I not see a whole human being had been standing there?
His brown hair was messy as if a hand had run through them quite recently. He had gleaming blue eyes and super-cute dimples. His skin was tanned, but not too much. Overall, he looked... handsome. And, he also looked really cheerful.
"Hello, everyone!" he said in a warm, boyish voice.
"Tell us something about yourself, Adler," said Miss April, smiling at the new boy.
"Uh, sure. Well, my name is Brian. Brian Adler. My family and I just transferred in from Canada so I have to start from the middle of the term. And, um, I'm really excited to get to know everyone," he said and grinned, making his cute dimples visible.
I realized I had been gazing at his dreamy blue eyes for too long. So, I quickly took my eyes off him and started doodling in my notebook.
"So, Carter, your punishment for starting a fight with Sherry and giving her a broken nose will be to tutor Adler for the rest of the term."
Where the whole class had been so excitedly murmuring about Brian Adler, now the subject of those murmurings had turned to what would happen if I started tutoring Brian.
"WHAT?!" I bellowed in surprise and disagreement.
The class fell silent.
"Yes, Carter, you'll be tutoring Adler."
"No! I'm not--"
"Carter, this is your punishment, not a request!"
"I won't!"
"Ashy, he needs tutoring. He just got in," these words softened me a bit towards the situation.
"Fiona, please... I understand he needs tutoring, but... make someone else tutor him, please. You know very well that it's not a good time to have a guest at home," I pleaded.
The whole class was stunned at discovering this warm personality of me. They had never, even in their most absurd dreams, thought that I was anything more than an arrogant, hot-headed girl.
"Ashy--"
"Don't call me 'Ashy'!" I said in a calm, yet strict voice.
"...Carter, please."
After a few seconds, I spoke, "Fine. But we're having a conversation on this after Biology."
"Alright," she said with a small smile on her face. "Well, uh, Adler, sit beside Carter. She will show the syllabus and all the other things you need to know. Everyone, open to page 153 of your textbook. We will be revising this chapter today and move on to learning the basics of the next chapter. And, test on Chapter 4 tomorrow. Be sure to - WILL YOU TWO HURRY UP?!" she bellowed all of a sudden. Apparently, I and Brian were still removing all the stuff that had been kept on the seat where he was supposed to sit.
When we were finally settled, the teacher spoke again, "Right. Where was I? Oh, yeah... so, be sure to practice the exercises from your book. If - Sherry! What's so much more important on your phone than studies?!"
And the class went on - the students kept doing things they weren't supposed to in a class, and Miss April kept on scolding them and threatening to punish them. I noticed that Brian was trying to start a conversation with me, so I put up a perfect frown.
As soon as the class ended, I strode out with a confused Brian trailing behind me.
"Hey, um... wait, please..." he kept saying as he followed me. Of course, he knew nothing about this school, nothing about the students or the teachers, and nothing about where he was supposed to go next.
After an entire irritating minute, I turned on my heels and asked, "What?"
"What's happening? Where are you going?" he asked, his perfect eyebrows forming a confused frown.
"Oh, you're the new boy, aren't you? I didn't realize you were behind me," I retorted in a bored tone.
He gave me yet another look of complete confusion.
I sighed and said, "Which class are you trying to find?"
"Physics."
"No..." I groaned and continued "Which other subjects did you take?"
If this guy is with me in all the classes, I'm gonna go crazy!
"Mathematics, AP biology, chemistry... what's wrong?" he asked as he saw a complete expression of loathness etched on my face.
"I - hate - this - type - of - coincidences," I said through my gritted teeth.
"Um... I'm guessing you have the same subjects, then."
"... come with me," I gritted and strode away.
After a walk through the long corridors of the school, we were in the classroom.
He sat down beside me. Of course. We were taking out our books when I spoke, "So, how come you're with me when there's a bunch of other pathetic students in the corridors?"
"Oh, 'cause they're eating each other's faces out," he replied with a grin on his face.
"You're nuts... Anyway, you should get a map from the office, it's a big school. You need to start your tuitions from today and... will you be able to come over at 7 pm?"
"What's wrong with 5 pm?"
"I can't. I work at a restaurant and my shift is from 1 pm to 6 pm."
"Oh... tell me where that restaurant is, I'll pick you up and we'll go to your home."
Whoa...
I was perplexed - no one in the school had acted so nice towards me in a long time. I said in a calm voice, "Sure."
"So, where is that restaurant, and what's its name?"
"I'll text you the address later. And, well, I forgot the name," I informed with awkwardness in my tone.
"You work there."
"I know, but it's an Italian name. It's a long name, and I'm not the only one who doesn't know what it is."
It's true. The name was something like 'il Cibo... mig... miglore pi delis... uh, something'
"Well then--"
"GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE!" bellowed Mr. Brown. He was the strictest teacher in the school, and he hated couples making out in the corridors or classrooms. So, most of the time the students would see Mr. Brown telling Tina and her boyfriend to go to the bathroom and make out.

*Ring*
After complete 6 hours of studying, confronting yells from teachers, groaning from students at hearing about the assignments, and a very annoyingly trailing of a new boy behind me, it was time to go to work.
"Will you stop asking me stuff?" I exclaimed after an hour of 'irrelevant' questions from Brian.
"Oh c'mon! If you're gonna teach me stuff from now on, we gotta know some stuff about each other, right?" he asked, smiling sweetly.
"You already know my address, my work address, and about my reputation in this world. What more do you need to know about a tutor?" I asked, losing my cool now.
"What do you mean by 'tutor'? I thought we could be friends..." he stopped in his tracks. When I looked at his eyes, they were kind of... sad.
Don't be vulnerable. Don't let your guard down. I told myself.
I looked him in the eye and said in a feeling-less tone, "That's what you thought. Trust me, we can't be friends."
"Why not? It's not as if you're some sort of alien," he replied trying to lighten up the mood.
"Oh, yeah? Everybody in this place sees me as dirt. They think I don't deserve to live. And, you would do the same thing if it weren't for the principal to make arrangements for your lousy ass to end up in my living room," I yell.
"Are you crazy? I would never treat you like that."
"Oh, really? When was the last time you paid any attention to a 'nerd', as you call me?" I questioned, my voice had a harsh edge.
I know he can't answer that. No one so cool like him can.
Wait, what? Did I just call him 'cool'?
"I..." he trailed off.
"I knew it," I gritted and left him there.
What the hell is wrong with me?
I walked through the long corridors and soon found myself face-to-face with Ms. April.
"I don't wanna do this," I told her.
"Oh well, you have to do this."
Oh Lord, kill me!!!
"Why don't you do it?"
"Ashy, I'm a teacher for 300 students and there's a lot more that I do besides yelling on rule-breakers."
This woman...
"Okay, firstly, don't call me Ashy in school, secondly, I can't do this. He is super annoying."
"Ashley, don't worry. I'll come over to your apartment and help you, okay? Anyway, I have three other classes to take. Goodbye now," And she walked off.

Of course, he's gonna make me stand in front of this freaking place and wait when he's not even coming.
My shift at the restaurant was till 6 pm, but it was then 6:30 pm. I was pretty sure he wasn't going to come to pick me up. Yet, somewhere in the inside, I knew he that he couldn't make me wait up here. I just didn't know how I knew it.
I was just about to leave on my own when I realized a car was coming directly towards me at a comparatively high speed.
Whoa! Does he even know how to drive?
Is it even him?
It has to be...
What's wrong with me?
By the time I was done arguing with myself, I figured that this car was not slowing down.
What the hell?
I was shocked. Way too shocked to move. I knew this car was probably out of control and I had to move away or I'd die, but I couldn't. Suddenly a hand comes out of nowhere, grabs me by the arm, and pulls me away. Next thing I know: I was practically glued to him. Him.
"Are you okay?" he asked, his voice laced concern before unwrapping my arms from around him.
I gave a shaky nod and scooted away from him. He went towards the almost crashed car and knocked on the window.
"Too drunk to drive, don't you think?" he told the driver and came back to my side.
"What just happened?" I asked him... I really don't know why I asked him that.
"Well, that fella was drunk-driving and was about to run you over but I pulled you away and then he stopped before crashing into the restaurant," he said and finally I could comprehend what had happened.
"Okay...um, thanks." Why was it so awkward for me to say 'thanks'?
"Alright, let's go."
"Yeah..."
He took me to his car. I still hadn't got over the shock so it was getting a little difficult for me to guide him to my apartment. He seemed to have noticed my inattentiveness and asked, "Hey, are you still thinking about what happened?"
"Um, yeah. It was pretty intense. I could've died, you know?" I sighed.
"I'm sorry."
"It wasn't your fault."
"Well...I set it up. It was a prank."
"WHAT?!" I yelled. Is this guy serious?
"Y...eah. That drunk driver was my friend, Noah."
"You! Ugh! Why would you do that?! Do you have any idea how scary that was?!"
"So, it worked," he said with a smirk.
"UGH I HATE YOU!"
And I had no idea how that made him laugh...
"Wipe that smirk off your face and help me!" I yelled at him as I got out of the car and took my bag. He ran off to get the elevator.
As we went upwards, I put up a perfect grimace and he kept laughing at me. My brain was pretty angry at him, but my heart only wanted to laugh alongside him. By the time I realized anything, I was flushed with anger.
"Jeez, you look cute with pink cheeks!" he chuckled.
"Shut up or you'll get detention!" I told him.
The first thing that he did after entering my house: he propped himself on my un-crinkled couch... and got it crinkled.
UGH!
"Rules." I sighed, "You need to follow some rules to be my student."
"That's so uncool!" he groaned.
"I'm all about uncool," I said.
What?
"Alright. First off, you can't touch anything in this house without my permission. You can't just sit wherever you want to. You can't watch the TV unless I allow it. You can't use the washroom without my permission. And when you do use it, make sure everything is clean. And don't expect me to serve you dinner. Got it?"
"Yes, mom."
Really?
"Let's start then, shall we?"
QOTD = When your friends come over to your house, do you set them up with a dozen boring rules? If yes, please share some of the rules with us :)
Fun Fact:
Tina's actual name is Tina Sherlington. She never liked her last name so she changed it to 'Sherry', and it matched with 'cherry', her favourite fruit.
