When Kole said to run, Kennedy obliged. However, she misinterpreted which direction he was going, and ended up veering to the left just as he went right. She was tempted to turn around and follow him but the sound of the sirens grew nearer so she forced herself to continue on.

It wasn't like she had never been in such a situation before. Then again, Kole had always been with her. She had her older brother to look up to. To ask what they needed to do. And he never failed in providing her with answers when she needed them the most.

But she was alone now. She needed to think for herself, and while she never would admit it to anyone, she was kind of scared. Getting caught would be a serious issue so she knew she couldn't let that happen. With that in mind, and the fact that she needed to see her brother again, she kept running, manoeuvring through alleys and not even looking back to see if anyone was following her.

However, that was probably a bad choice on her part, because she felt a sudden stab of pain in her lower back and crumpled to the floor.

For a second, all she thought of in her mind was, whichever son of a bitch shot me is seriously in for some trouble...

In an instant, she realised that she hadn't actually gotten shot. She's been hit by a bullet before. It was a common thing, working for a drug lord. This pain, was in no way relatable to that. It wasn't even pain. This was more like... A sting. Nevertheless, it rendered her body useless, so she supposed that whatever it was, had similar uses to that of a taser.

She tried to move, but there was no use trying. Kennedy heard footsteps. Footsteps that were moving too slowly and casually to belong to a police officer. Already her mind began to whir, spinning up a story as she was put under the impression that whoever shot her down was one of her boss' enemies.  He had plenty, so that would be no surprise.

"You killed her?" Came a voice. It was male, but too far away to be the source of the footsteps she heard right beside her. Her eyes were closed and she didn't dare open them.

"She's not dead, fuck face. Just paralysed." Came another voice, much more deeper than the other one. "Take her quickly. We were told to make use of this window, and I'm not going to be the one to have to explain myself if she isn't grabbed when we have the perfect opportunity to."

"Alright, geez Lee, it's like you actually fucking care," the other voice came, getting nearer with his footsteps, and she could tell she was being lifted off the ground, even though most of her body couldn't feel it.

The gruff voice, who now had a name, spoke again.

"I care about getting my money. Wait till her brother finds out. Then this will all be worth it." Lee said, followed by a hearty laugh, low and throaty.

Her brother? Kole?

What had they done to him?

What were they going to do to her?
