Today is to make people aware of corruption,

a crime that in our world seems rife,

it occurs in governmental departments,

sadly in most other walks of life.

Corruption can undermine a democracy,

with law breaking and bribery allowed,

we must all work together to stop this,

and not just be a face in the crowd.

We have police cooperating with drug dealers,

businesses having to pay for protection,

politicians who are ruling our countries,

positions they obtained from rigged elections.

International Anti-Corruption Day has been held annually on December 9th since 2003, this date was designated by the UN General Assembly  with the passing of resolution 58/4  on October 2003. The UN were "Concerned about the seriousness of problems and threats posed by corruption to the stability and security of societies, undermining the institutions and values of democracy, ethical values and justice and jeopardising sustainable development and rule of law" We should all refuse to take part in anything that is not legal, report incidents of corruption, teach the youth of today about ethics and we should show zero tolerance to those we suspect of corruption.
