It was philosopher Barbara Condron,

who thought up Universal Hour of Peace Day,

it was first held at noon September 25th 1995,

where for 60 minutes weapons were put away.

In 1996 it was moved to December 31st, 

as a way to welcome in the new year,

it starts at 11.30pm and ends at 12.30 am,

when fun and laughter should be all we hear.

Educator and philospher Barbara Condron came up with the idea of Universal Hour of Peace Day. She hoped leaders in government, business and educstion would unite and declare September 25th 1995 at noon Greenwich Mean Time as an hour of peaceful thought, this date coincided with the 50th anniversary of the UN. The date was later changed to December 31st as a way to welcome in the new year. It would be wonderful to have a New Year full of peace and harmony, no more fighting, no more hatred, no more racism and where all mankind is your friend.
