December 27th St. John the Apostle Day.
The son of Zebedee and Salome,
St. John the Evangelist was a fisherman,
so too was his brother St. James,
both of them were Galilean.
They both got a call to follow Jesus,
while their fishing nets they were trying to repair,
together they became his disciples,
and learnt by following him everywhere.
St. John the Apostle was the son of Zebedee and Salome, he had an elder brother called James who also became an Apostle. John was the only one not to die a martyr's death. John and Peter were the only two Apostles sent to prepare the Last Supper, John sat next to Jesus and became the only one not to forsake him at the cross. Church tradition holds that St. John is the author of "Gospel of John" and four other books of the new testament, the three Epistles of John and Book of Revelation.
