St Chaeremon lived in third century Egypt, 

at a time marked by Roman persecution,

Christians were driven into the desert,

any that dare return faced execution.

St Chaeremon fled to the mountains,

he felt safer on higher ground,

but  he was never seen after this,

nor was his body ever found.

In the third century the Romans made Christians who lived in Egypt suffer terribly, they were forced to live in the desert where they would die from hunger, thirst, cold or wild animal attacks, if they tried to return home they would be executed. St Chaeremon was a priest and bishop of Nilopolis. He was very old when he went with his friends to shelter in the mountains to escape the atrocities, they were never seen again nor were their bodies found, today people still suffer for their faith in Jesus.
