Chapter 74
The guards rushed inside and headed at the sight of Mrs. Oh who was now on the ground, holding her bleeding arm as the bullet you had shot, had managed to scratch her creating a small but painful wound.
"Are you alright Mrs. Oh?"One of her guards asked her and she just gave him an angry stare before her eyes fell back on you.
She was incredibly angry at how you had dared to do such a thing and in all honestly, all she wanted to do was see your brains being shot out of your head but somehow that stranger that had appeared out of nowhere had deprived her of that pleasure, thing that she definitely didn't appreciate at all. Who was that intruder who saved you so unexpectedly? Was it that Butler you had? She didn't exactly care much either way however as she kept watching towards you and your reactions she couldn't help but find your death, less entertaining than this moment.
Your face was full of tears and it had a terrified expression while you kept looking at the now unconscious body of that guy with pink hair that seemed to be important for you. The way you help your palms over his wounds, in a desperate attempt to stop his blood before rushing to find your phone in your pockets, probably thinking of calling an ambulance, however there was no way they will let you do that.
As your trembling fingers pressed the numbers before you could press call, try snatched it away from your hands, making your attention derive away from Jimin and look up at the guard who just took your phone out of your hands. You didn't hesitate even a moment to get up and forcibly try to get it back, however it was evident that the buff guy had more physical strength than you and you ended up under his tight grip, as he turned you around to face towards Mrs.Oh HaNeul.
"Take your hands off me you -!" You spoke angrily, before using some of the self-protection lessons you had taken when you were younger. Thankfully you still remembered them right and you were able to free yourself from his grip and grab your gun again, which you had left at the side, while attending at Jimin.
You held onto it desperately as your chest moved up and down rapidly as if you were running miles but the truth was that your breaths had gotten messed up because of the anxiety and the rush of emotions inside you.
"Call an ambulance!" You ordered while you aimed at her head determined to shoot and not miss this time because your focus was not distracted nor you were afraid of killing her because simply your mind now had another priority and that was to do anything you could to save his life.
"Call an ambulance or else I swear I will fucking kill you!" You threaten with a gaze full of seriousness and malice while your mouth used words that you almost never had spoken of before. But the only response that you took was pain, as you felt something piercing through your flesh, making you drop your weapon and leave a scream.
The guard that had shot you from behind which you hadn't even noticed there soon appeared at your side vision as you were now on your knees, trying to control your screams as the pain surely seemed unbearable.
"You created such a mess and for what? This night could have ended with just your blood but you wanted to spill more. Are you proud of yourself Y/N?" She asked you as she took some steps towards you and you tried to take hold of your gun again but the guard stepped on it and took it out of your reach.
"Seriously, you make me think good of TaeYong Mrs. Oh. I can perfectly understand why he could only use you. Because loving someone like you, is impossible. "You responded, intentionally trying to step on the spot that you were aware that would sting her.
"Maybe it is so, however you seem to be loved by someone." She looked over at Jimin and smiled, making you grow worried questioning her ill thoughts.
"Mrs.Oh. Police are coming." One of the guards that were standing by the door, suddenly announced as the people they had left to guard the roads -while the wife of the prime minister was there- had informed him.
"Should we leave?" The guard beside you asked her and you just felt relieved, hoping that they will come soon however her laughter washed that hope you had, while she stepped towards Jimin and you crawled towards him in a protective manner.
"Don't touch him!" You told her as she brought her heel and stepped on his thigh, making you outraged.
"You love him, you care for him. Yet he shot you, he shot me. Poor Mrs. Lee. You never imagined it, right?" She smiled at you as she spoke and your eyes grew wide at the realization of what she was planning to do, before you lost consciousness due to a sudden hit at the back of your head.
---Change of Set---
"What is going on? Why is Mr. Kim not answering his phone?"TaeYong asked anxiously as he was now pacing up and down LeeGuk's living room since he had come to him, knowing that he had more freedom of expression in that space than his house and in this critical moment he sure was unable to pretend to be okay as it would have been required of him to do while at his house, at the presence of his parents which he didn't want to get involved nor worry.
"He may be unable to. Just stay put. He said he had called the police department of Busan to go there since he would take time to arrive there. " LeeGuk replied while he himself was going up and down, worried about your life deeply.
"Is it good for the police to be involved though. How do we explain all this if anything reaches the media?" TaeYong questioned one more worry that was going on his head and LeeGuk stopped abruptly at his steps and turned to look at him with a gaze that implying that what he just said was of secondary importance.
"I am sorry okay. I am just freaking out about everything that may happen after in general because I don't want to think of the possibilities of the now!" He defended himself as it was true that the though of HaNeul actually succeeding, was something he didn't want to think about.
"Grab you coat. Let's go to the police station and wait for Officer Kim there" LeeGuk propose and neither of them hesitated of doing so as staying there and doing nothing was eating their minds away painfully.
---Time skip---
NamJoon was at the hospital hall, staying there on his own, paler than he had ever been in his life, with thoughts that never were more monochrome.
For a long time, he was afraid of such a day coming. A day that he would find his friend covered in blood, lifeless. A day that he could do nothing but watch. He had told him multiple times to be careful, he was the one that could sleep at nights whenever Jimin was to go out for his so-called 'Missions'. He was the one that felt relieved every time that he would call him after, even he knew his friend had managed to just get away with a crime. He couldn't help but be happy that he was unharmed regardless. Even though he lived in constant fear of losing him.
He was supposed to be over with it now. He had managed to pay his debt and as such Jimin had no need to be doing those stuff anymore yet the day Namjoon feared of still reached to him. He clearly remembered that he had told him to wait but as always Jimin hadn't listened to him and now, he was in life danger, while all the could do as his best friend was stand there, oblivious if his friend is drifting away from life as he stays still or is not.
The situation was surely unpleasant and pressuring, however, he still was thankful that they had managed to bring him to the hospital still alive and they had a chance of saving him. And honestly, that's all he wanted to hear. All he was waiting for was a doctor to come out and tell him that he survived, he made it.
Lost in his thoughts while he kept back his tears, he remained till his phone rang and he this time took the effort to take it out of his pocket and see who was calling him. However, maybe it was better if he had ignored it after all cause once he saw that SooLin was calling him, a tear escaped from his eyes which he brushed it quickly, as he didn't want to allow himself to break now. He was the only one that could deal with this situation after all so he had to stand strong and be as clear-minded and efficient as he could.
He stared at his screen, unable to answer, thinking that they may know of what happened as the media had already gathered, reporting over the incident. However even if they didn't know yet, he definitely didn't think that he had the strength to be the one to inform them yet. He felt like a traitor. As if he had betrayed her as well as Mr.Park. He felt like he had failed on looking after Jimin even though no one had directly put such a responsibility over him.
"I am sorry SooLin..." He mumbled to himself before he pulled his phone back on his pocket then his attention was drawn by a policeman who called out to him, making him stand up reflexively.
"Min. Oh it's so nice seeing you." He told him as he saw an old friend with which he was very close when they both were into the police academy. They had even worked together for two years before Sun WonMin, as his full name was, was transferred to the police station in Busan.
"Same. I wish we had met under other circumstances though." He replied as he held a sad smile on his lips, making NamJoon understand that something was wrong.
" I am one of the police officers send to guard Park JiMin." He announced and NamJoon left his surprise show on his face for a moment.
"He didn't do anything." Namjoon stated as his mind started thinking of what could have happened and what they were trying to do.
"I am sorry. The guards of Mrs.Oh testified against him. They claimed that he tried to murder both Mrs. Lee and Mrs. Oh and so the guards shot him to immobilize him. Some of my colleagues are here, waiting to take testimony from Mrs.Oh herself since her wound is under full control. Mrs. Lee has yet to wake up. Nonetheless, a file is opened against him." NamJoon stood speechless as WonMin explained the full situation then he took a deep breath, trying his best to bring his brain to function.
"Have you checked for imprints on the weapons? Security cameras that might have caught something? There must be something on that scene to prove him innocent!" He spoke , his desperation showing in his eyes and his friend lowered his head, before taking a quick look at his surroundings.
"It's a fairy tale case. The ending is predicted. I wish I could so something but...We all need to live. I hope you understand." He placed his hand on his shoulder and patted it before leaving his hand slide down and smoothly managing to leave a note at NamJoon's pocket.
He stays there watching his friend turn around and go, then he hurries to find the bathroom so he could close himself into a secure space and read whatever was that he entrusted him with. It was obvious that he was risking while doing so, however, NamJoon knew that WonMin was always a guy that took pride in his morals. Sometimes in life however, the power of corruption can be so big that it can cover up anything, and close mouths even of people that live for justice as he was. Yet he had a family. His wife had a year that had given birth to a beautiful girl as far as he knew and as such it would be good that he wouldn't play with his life.
However same applied for NamJoon too, as while he entered into the bathroom for men, he received an email from his chief, informing him of the order that just arrived from the headquarters and was ordered to be send to all police force, giving struck orders to stay out of the case as it has strictly assigned to the police stations of Busan.
They sure are quick
He thought as he found a free stand and got inside, quickly taking the note out of his pocket, opening and reading it.
20/8/5__9/19__2/5/9/14/7__13/1/14/9/16/21/12/1/20/5/4....
NamJoon read the first numbers then he halted, trying to think of the meaning of it which didn't take him long to do as he recalled when they used to do this in the past, passing messages in the class cryptically so even if they were to get caught, the teacher would get confused.
The evidence is being manipulated and destroyed. Westside of the hospital. A trash bin next to a yellow flower. Purple plastic bag. This is all I can do for you. Good luck.
He took a deep breath and threw the note in the toilet, to make sure it will never be found by anyone then he proceeded to calmly get out, now having a destination in mind. He walked casually so he wouldn't attract any attention till he reached onto the elevator in which he stood among others calmly on the outside while in his head, many thoughts were rushing.
What was the evidence that his friend was entrusting him with? Whatever it was it was definitely dangerous of him to have it considering how everything and everyone was being shut down in order to cover up the truth which he even without evidence was able to guess and for certain he wouldn't believe that Jimin shot Y/N.
If someone was to tell him that he shot Mrs. Oh, maybe he would be doubtful considering that at that pressuring moment and if under danger, he might have concluded on doing something like that, be it to protect himself or you, however, to claim that Jimin shot You too was just absurd to him because he knew more than other.
NamJoon was his best friend and even though, Jimin had never spoken out loud of his feelings for you despite the guilt he carried, it was obvious that he cared more than he would care for others in general. To NamJoon, Jimin's care and the way he looked towards you whenever he thought that no one was watching, reminded him of the way he tends to look at SooLin when he too foolishly thinking that no one is noticing him. The way he kept quiet about you always made him think that there must be things inside him regarding you, that he was afraid of admitting because of the situation he was in. How could he say that he had fallen in love with you when all that would do was devalue his love, cause he had to do his job at the end. And devaluing such a feeling might have been something that he wasn't willing to do, because he thought of it as precious.
NamJoon, knew him more than anyone. How Jimin was a soul way different than what he may ever show on the surface. The way he tended to love and get attached to people. He had cared for many in his life, cause he was a caring nature but he knew that Jimin had never fallen in love. Relationships were something he couldn't commit into, taking into consideration his situation so he just tended to avoid them, not wanting to hurt anyone for any reason. He used to say that love wasn't for him and that he had other things on his head to take care of. He used to smile and imagine the day when he would have paid the debt and he would be free to start living his life.
How he was going to work hard and maybe try to go to university since he never got the chance. How he would get a stable job which he will be happy doing and be proud of. He was going to be someone that the woman he will love, will be proud of presenting to her parents. Someone that would deserve to be loved as much as he was willing to love. Yet life definitely doesn't follow anyone's plans.
NamJoon stepped out of the elevator calmly and soon found himself out of the building, doing his best at checking his surroundings before turning and heading towards the west side of the building, looking for a yellow flower.
It took him some minutes of wondering yet he was unable to find any yellow flower even though he had past quiet some bins on his way. He grew a bit frustrated that he didn't seem to be finding it however he soon decided that such feelings would only make his attention and mind foggier so he diverted his eyes upwards, in an attempt to change the scenery so when he gets back at looking towards the bins, he could possibly be able to notice something new.
While he did so, however, his eyes fell off a window from which it was visible a flower pot that had yellow tulips. He gave a quick look around him before heading toward it where he found a trash bin two steps distance from the window that was at the third floor of the building.
He placed his hand on his pocket , pretending as if he grabbed something and was going to throw it at the bin, and as soon as he approached he noticed under other garages, a purple bag just like his friend had told him. He quickly grabbed it and placed it under his coat, then sprinted towards the parking where he had left his car. Thankfully no one seemed to be paying attention to him, but nonetheless he made sure to not be an easy target in case someone might be aiming at him or whatever the occasion may be.
His feelings ranged from tension to nervousness till he reached his car and turned on the engine, driving some distance away from the hospital, before taking a look at the bag only to find out that there were two cameras inside it.
---Change of set---
You had woke up only to find TaeYong in your room while some others seem to be outside as you faintly could hear some more voices.
"Y/N. You woke up! How are you feeling?" He questioned you, as he instantly stood up from his seat and came closer to you, looking at you with a worried expression
"Where am I? What happened?" You replied as your vision was still a bit heavy and you were feeling your head a bit dull as if it was there yet it wasn't.
"You were shot in the arm. You also hit your head. You may not be able to feel it yet because of the anesthetic however."He informed you and you lifted your hand to touch your head only to find out that you had something wrapped around it then you looked at your arm, seeing your shoulder patched up too.
"Wait...Jimin..Where is Jimin?" The memory of him getting shot instantly reappeared in your head, making you look at TaeYong with a fearful expression as you asked him.
"Just rest for now. Everything will be okay." He avoided to give you an answer and instead brought his hand and caressed your other shoulder, thing that instead of making you feel comforted as he hoped, made you madder.
"Respond to me !" You raised your tone at him, unintentionally letting your worried emotions slip to the surface, but truth was that no one could fully blame you for it because anyone would have been losing control if they were at your place.
Someone had literally sacrificed themselves to save your life right in front of you. He had literally used his body as a shield without a second thought. How were you supposed to not care? Even if it was someone else besides Jimin, you would still feel responsible and would want to know of their condition.
"He underwent surgery. They removed the bullets out of his body. His condition is still crucial. He has lost quite a lot of blood. His chances of surviving are low."His words sounded mechanic as even TaeYong himself wasn't exactly fond of the news but the reality was real and he just didn't want to let you know because he knew this may add negatively to your state.
You grew pale just by listening to this, imagine how you were to feel when you get to know about everything else that is going on. How even if he was to survive, he was to pass his life in prison. How in TaeYong's head at that moment, Jimin's death was considered as a better option than life, knowing how everything was getting prepared for his doom and nor him nor anyone had proof to oppose it.
