Chapter 70

Jimin got out of his room in thoughts of taking some water to drink from the fridge but as soon as he got to the living room he found Namjoon putting on his coat.

"Leaving for work?"He nonchalantly asked him expecting a simple hum or a monotone response but instead he got a suspicious one.

"E?! Yeah..I..am going there. Sure" NamJoon couldn't help but let his nervousness show at his sudden appearance while he had concluded earlier to go on this meeting without letting Jimin know, for now, taking into consideration his current mood and trying to not worry him with any further information.

"Why are you even-...Where are you going Hyung?"Jimin crossed his arms above his chest as he gave a stare to his friend who had tried to lie to him in front of his face.

"Ah~It may be better if you don't know Jimin-ah." Namjoon replied after he left a sigh escape his lips but he already knew that there was no way he was leaving that house without explaining properly.

"It's something related to Y/N, isn't it? Did something happen?" Jimin's gaze turned to a worried one as he stepped closer towards Namjoon, making him unable to leave him in this agonizing state and add on his friend's stress.

"I had a phone call from Mr. Lee's right hand, Mr.Kim LeeGuk. He asked me to meet with him at his residence."Namjoon informed him and Jimin stood silent for a moment contemplating about reasons he might have to want to meet with his friend but nothing came to mind except an uneasy feeling that rise inside him.

"I want to come with you."He spoke his desire and Namjoon was ready to decline but Jimin had already left to go grab his coat in order to follow him.

NamJoon left an exhale as he just proceeded to wear his shoes and stepped out of the door, filled with thoughts as he reached the elevator's door, where Jimin reached at his side before it had the chance to open and let him in.

"You know, I don't think you should come-"

"I will stay in the car, Just leave your phone open." Jimin cut him off as he was not going to accept a negative answer because simply he wanted to do anything he could if it was to help you and this sure was a chance for him to do so.

"We both know you won't stay there... I will let the door open for you." Namjoon told him as the elevator finally came and they both stepped inside with slight smiles hanging from their lips.

"Once inside, best places to look for would be his bedroom. Usually when people have to hide something very important, they tend to keep it in eye reach especially while they are sleeping, cause they are the most exposed at such hours." NamJoon gave him a tip, deciding that this scooping around that Jimin was thinking of was not that much of a bad idea, if it was to get them somewhere with this case. Yes, it was illegal but crime is stated as one only when it's discovered.

"Leave it to me." Jimin reassured him with a smile as he was surely confident about it because it wasn't his first time that had invaded someone's house or stolen someone's personal belongings. Things that he may not be exactly proud of but they were sure actions that required certain skills that he had developed to high levels through time.

---Meanwhile---

You looked out of the window of your car, lost in wonderous thoughts and creations of possible scenarios as to why had LeeGuk asked you to go meet up with him in his house.

You were sure that he must have got to know about his friend's victory when it comes to you cheating and you couldn't help but wonder if he wanted to talk about the situation you were currently in. Him, having a will to help you out, however, was too bold and generous of an assumption as any action that could be considered against TaeYong was impossible to be done by someone who is so loyal to him.

However, that hope wasn't the reason you got out and actually agreed on meeting him. Your condition had no saving and you had more than come to terms with the destruction. You didn't mind much what the society will think of you after this, nor if they were all to hate you, including people whom you cared for. They will always see what they want to see. A scandalous heartless cheater just sells more than a miserable soul, desperate for justice and longing of freedom. Just like the title of an article, the catchier it is, the better.

Honestly, you didn't even want those people to know the truth. What was the point of it? If a mistake was to undo years of work and exceptional behavior if a single thing is able to erase every bit of love you have given to your parents and every feeling they may have ever carried for their daughter. If that was all it takes for trust to be broken and for you to be discarded as a bad person in anyone's eyes, then so be it. If that is all they can see, then you won't be at fault for their blindness.

Surely you knew, however, that it was not gonna be easy but the future that seemed to be painful was not the cause of your current pain. It may hurt but you will hurt for it when the time comes to face it. Now you had a headache because of thoughts regarding MinHee and heartache, of thoughts regarding Jimin.

He was the one that lied and betrayed you, yet you were the one feeling bad for him. It wasn't pity but rather a sadness directed towards life and the paths it can take you and maybe even anger, getting born by the unfairness that kind people go through. You weren't an expert at depicting the virtue but Jimin sure was kind, maybe he at the end didn't act particularly kind towards you but that didn't really erase his general heart that as far as you had been with him, it was evident that carried lots of care and kindness for others.

From Strangers that would pass him by in the streets, to you who never smiled till he managed to make you do so. His worried eyes that you can not forget that always seemed too sincere it be now discarded as a lie. In this time span that he had a destined point to reach, he had given you too many moments that were true, or so you wanted to believe since as much as you brought them in your memory the more they seemed sincere. You had grown up between fake people, and you would like to believe that you are able to recognize them no matter what but you failed to see any sight of deception and malicious intends when it came to him. Had you failed or he just wasn't of that kind? Was he just so masterful at deception that achieved to make you think well of him even after the truth had surfaced? You weren't sure which one of the two was but one thing was for certain.

He will pass like any other disappointment and pain you have ever felt in your life. One day he will be nothing but a distant memory who won't affect you emotionally. Whatever was that it happened and whatever the intentions of his heart may have been? If his words of love were truthful or not? If you even were close to anything like love was or it was just a lustful trap of emotions. Every moment you had lived with him, will one day be nothing but a memory like any other. And maybe like that, you could reach a point when you could say with certainty. That it wasn't love. That you never felt such a thing.

---Time skip---

TaeYong was seated at the couch in LeeGuk's house, his hands placed together as his head was hanging low, filled with anxious thoughts.

"The coffee will get cold. Drink that!" LeeGuk's voice reached to his ears making him abruptly jolt up , displaying his extreme nervous state just by that sudden movement.

"I am okay. I don't need more."He declined before standing up and taking some steps around the room, making LeeGuk who had sat at the other couch opposite him, smirk a bit, enjoying his state even though he shouldn't.

It was rare to see him so panicking and that was what made the moment a bit funny to him even though he knew well that, nothing was funny about his situation at that moment. However, they will not benefit from anything if he was to be nervous as well so he had to at least take this lightly for now, since he still was able to do so.

"Hyung..maybe-"

"No!" LeeGuk cut him off as he already guessed what he was going to say.

"But -" TaeYong gave him a pleading look and LeeGuk stood up and gave him a stern look.

"You want to run away? You are scared? Isn't fear what brought you here, to begin with?" LeeGuk told him, understanding well that each minute that past, was extra pressuring and scary to TaeYong but this time, he won't let him step back. He won't let him destroy his life like this because he knew well that his guilt was never-ending. Maybe, he couldn't save him nor take decisions for him, but he could do his best to keep him on the right path, since he gave him the chance to do so.

"What's so scary of recalling that night? You live with it every single moment of it. You want her sacrifice to be worthy, don't you?" He added, making TaeYong grow silent and avert his gaze, soon an exhale leaving his lips.

"I am such a coward." He mumbled in defeat as he sat down at the corner of the couch.

"Took you long enough to realize."LeeGuk commented jokingly as he laughed a bit, earning a death stare from his friend.

"Seriously, I will never understand you. Just how can you literally take nothing seriously?" TaeYong questioned him and LeeGuk just shrugged his shoulders before giving him his reply.

"Born gifted. What can I say." He smiled but his smile froze as the doorbell rung and the attention of both was directed towards it, now both being filled with nervousness.

LeeGuk proceeded to go and open up for whoever might be from his guessed which he invited, to have arrived first and TaeYong just grew pale as he stood there. Was he really going to do this? Was he really going to speak of the truth just like that, ignoring the fact that if she was to get to know that he had spoke up, his life would be over?

"Y/N, I am glad that you came. Please come in." He heard LeeGuk welcoming you and he immediately tried to erase any kind of expressions of his face, as he sat down on the place he previously was.

His hearing focused on the footsteps that were getting louder and louder, till you had finally stepped in the living room and noticed his presence, thing that brought your fit to a halt for an instant out of surprise and appreciation of his existence around you, so soon. After what had happened in his office, you surely were mad at him, enough to not want to see his face for two centuries or so.

"If this is one more attempt to threaten me or humiliate me, I would ask of you to keep it short and don't waste my time." You told him as you gave him a stare that clearly displayed your hostile feelings towards him.

"Just have a seat , please. I will explain, once the police officer arrives." He replies, making you perplexed for a second as to why a police officer was coming, then your mind went to a certain police officer and somehow you couldn't help but grow curious as to why would he have called Mr. Kim NamJoon over. Was he now trying to stop him from investigating too?

You didn't manage to ask him any of your questions as the sound of the doorbell echoed in the atmosphere and LeeGuk left to open it, without a second of hesitation while TaeYong stood up and you both just looked at each other in silence, till LeeGuk stepped into the room again, with the man that you thought of, right behind him.

NamJoon seemed surprised for a moment by the presence of other individuals in there but he quickly bowed his head and greeted you both, properly.

"I am Kim NamJoon. Officer in JunBu Police station. It's very nice to meet you Mr.Lee." NamJoon proceeded to introduce himself to TaeYong as this was the first time they were meeting each other officially and as such he decided to follow the formalities.

"Likewise. I have heard many things about your job. Thank you for your hard work" TaeYong replied but his good praise was not exactly what NamJoon got from his words, but it was the fact that he seemed to have done a throughout check on his general profile.

We sure are in for some things today. I guess having Jimin on the other line, wasn't as bad of an idea after all.

NamJoon thought to himself, as he flashed them a smile, knowing that the ongoing call that was going on between him and Jimin, would enable him to know that LeeGuk was apparently not the only person he was meeting with.

"Please have a seat. " LeeGuk instructed him as well as you, who preferred seating by NamJoon's side rather than TaeYong's whom was at the couch opposite yours.

You looked at him and you couldn't help but realize that something was off with him. He seemed unlike most of the times you had seen him. His gaze was restless around the room and his fingers couldn't keep still. Even his posture was not as straight and proper as usual and all these things made you conclude that he was agonizing about something.

"You may wonder why we called you here, so suddenly.." LeeGuk spoke as he took his seat next to TaeYong, his eyes locking with your briefly, making you feel uneasy, with the pitiful glimpse you thought you saw in them.

"Truth is that indeed it was unexpected however I am sure we all know what common thing could have brought us together." NamJoon replied, not having any intentions of playing ignorant at that moment as he had no reason to do so. He had done nothing but his job till now after all, and no one could find him any wrong for it.

"That's right. We have no reason to be pretending at this point. It is as you think, Mr.Officer. We have gathered here for the case of Choi MinHee. My ex-lover and my wife's ex-best friend." TaeYong spoke confidently, getting you by surprise as in no way you were ever expecting him to come forward and admit anything about their relationship much more want to discuss it in the presence of a police officer and yours.

"Are you-"

"Yes Y/N. You wanted to know the truth. I will tell you the truth. "TaeYong cut you off as his eyes finally met yours, his words bringing your thoughts to a halt.

Was he really going to reveal everything that happened to your friend that night? Was he really about to gift you what you for years had agonized over questioning? And if he really was to do so, then why? What had changed to make him comfortable to speak of it now?

Such were the questions that run through your head at that moment, making you doubt his words however you were about to listen to him nonetheless because no matter how much of a possibility may be -of this being just one more trick to get you away from the truth- he still made you hope. Made your expectations to rise even though you never liked having expectations because when they were to let you down, it was gonna hurt more.

Wouldn't it be absurd and silly after all? To expect anything positive from him?
